But I am having a really hard time deciphering it, it appears to be someone's name and then a place in New York. The trunk does have railroad transportation labels on both sides of the trunk. The trunk does have some wear as you can see, original front lock hardware is missing and it does have surface loss. Some of the paint has alligatored a bit on the sides as you can see from the photos. Trunk measures 35.25 inches wide by 17.25 inches deep by 17 inches tall. It has labels for New York Central Railroad and Westcott express one side and the other side has a very partial label and from what I can tell it is in French. The front of the trunk may read Hauve(France)New York. I think this is a really nice piece, I think it has a good folk art look to it and great to find it with original green paint. I believe from air plane panels. The quality is military over-build which is very durable and tough. On the top of this trunk a hole punched stencil reads'Major Ben W. Hunsaker. M.A.T.S. Andrews A.F. Base, Wash. D.C. M.A.T.S. stands for Military Air Transport Service. Activated on 1 June 1948. M.A.T.S was a consolidation of the United States Navy Naval Air Transport Service(NATS) and the United States Air Force Air Transport Command(ATC) into a single, joint, unified command. It was inactivated and discontinued on 8 January 1966 when the Air Force and Navy set up separate strategic airlift commands. There is a red metal tag riveted to the front reading'KOWA Industry' and leather carry handles at both ends. Two latches and a locking mechanism secure the trunk. Matching KOWA key is included. As you can see in the photos the trunk is in good vintage condition with normal wear consistent with age and it’s use. All which adds to the character of the piece. There is some faint writing on the lid in faded marker. See photos. This trunk is 29.75” long x 17” wide x 13.5” high. Use as a coffee table, end table, or storage chest. I don't about the paint it is in good overall condition probably less than half the age of the trunk( my guess! really REALLY cute size and nice piece. This hinged top box was created in the first half of the 1900's. It is constructed of wood and covered with the detailed brass repousse with the pub scene on the front and top. In the scene a group has gathered just outside the pub. Trees line the brick building. A woman raises a glass with four adults seated at a table. A chid plays on the ground in the foreground. Another child hides behind the woman's skirt. A floral& foliage motif in repousse is on each end. Antique England Peerage Brass Slipper Box-Chest/Trunk
Antique brass slipper box made in England by Peerage- still has part of the Peerage sticker on top of lid. 12" H x 17" L x 11.5" W. This is an old piece and does show it's age. Brass is tarnished- needs cleaning. Bottom raised wood pieces that it sits on have split apart on one side(the piece is inside the trunk to be glued on or fixed if you want) making it sit lopsided. Some brass nails are missing from around the edges causing brass to pull away from box. Lid has area on right top where particle board has broken off. For sale is a huge 1800's immigrant steamer trunk. Best guess is German or Swiss. Has a man's name on the top, AUGUST GEUNERT. NEW YORK. I bought it in Pa. At an antique store. They said it belonged to a Doctor. In Philadelphia.They bought this and several Hepple White pieces. From his estate. It is massive. 45 inches wide,22 deep, and 25 1/2 inches tall. And weighs about 75 pounds. Has a some issues with the wood. Please see photo's. Most are the 1/4 inch trim that surrounds. The lid base. A very easy fix for a carpenter. All the straps are present and in great shape with only the hinge. Front pieces altered. The lock plate is 6 3/4 by 4 inches in great. Condition.I do not have the key. Beautiful Antique Trunk w/Key and Tray - Refinished
You are viewing an absolutely beautiful antique Steamer trunk. It has been artfully restored to bring out the wonderful woodgrain. The base is Cedar. Not sure what kind of wood the very top of trunk is. But it looks nice. The dimensions are L31" W20" and H22" It has a slight arch to the top. Probabaly won't work as a coffee table unless you put a piece of glass ontop. It comes with a pull out tray and lock with working key. It has 4 free rolling casters on the bottom to aid in moving. The trunk was treated with 3 coats of Polyurethane by Minwax to protect it for many more years. The tin was painted satin black by Rustoleum. All hardware was painted in metal flake gold. The handles are original, but held up very nicely. Christmas is coming upon us soon and this would make a great gift for someone. This trunk is certainly ... morenot brand new. So it does have its share of character flaws. There are dings, dents, cracks, holes and stains in the wood. There are dings and dents in the hardware and metal trim. Antique CHILD'S DOLL STEAMER TRUNK Metal Over Wood, 3 Wooden Drawers & Hangers
This is a wonderful antique streamer truck/chest for doll's clothes. A toy most girls had to have at the turn of the 20th century. I'm not sure how old the trunk is. It is made of thin metal over wood and the metal reacts to a magnet. The trunk has a center key lock(non working) and 2 metal clasp brass colored steel(magnetic) All 4 corners have the same brass colored metal with tacks. There is a black metal band along the center edge with grommets or tacks. A leather strap embossed with the number 22 allows for easy carrying by an adult as the trunk weighs 16 pounds when empty. The handle is sturdy but has light surface cracks. In its upright position. The trunk opens to a wooden interior with 3 stacked drawers and a side for hanging the clothes. It does come with the 7 original wooden hangers(one is missing from the picture) The ... moredrawers can be removed and are stack-able within the trunk space. Slight loss of the blue paint on the edges of the right side. The trunk measures 22" tall x 12" x 12" There is a blank metal tag on the top near the handle. Antique Stage Coach Trunk Hand Made - Prmitive - Folk Art
A Wonderful Antique Stage Coach Trunk. The trunk is hand made of wood looks to be in original condition. Some small pieces or parts may be missing, it has wheels on the bottom part of one is missing, still for a trunk of this age it is very nice. The straps buttons are brass. The Shield Lock and Key look original, most of the straps are still with the trunk. Please check Photos for details. The trunk has been stored away for many years. Looks to be in very good condition. A Ladycomet Nice Refinished Victorian Flat Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/Key
Nice Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock& Key Here is a nice refinished steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. This one has a very fancy working lock. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 32 inches. From floor to top is 23 1/2 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 20 1/4 inches. This trunk is made up of pine base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax to protect it and make it look nice. The wood is in pretty good condition considering the age of this trunk and there are some typical stress cracks in the base wood. We have shown a close up picture of some of these stress cracks on the top. The majority of the trunks have similar stress cracks. This trunk maker did a nice job of running metal banding ... moreon this trunk. By doing so, it gives the trunk a nice wooden sectioned appearance. Some of the metal banding was missing, so we have filled these areas with glue to make up for the missing banding. The front latches are original cast iron ones and do work properly since the springs are intact. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. The metal parts on this trunk are not brass and have therefore been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. Someone has added a lock hasp on the front of the trunk next to the fancy lock. We decided to leave it there since it appears to be fairly old and you could use a padlock with this hasp to secure the lid of the trunk to the base in addition to the fancy working lock. The lock is fancy in which it has embossed and carved patterns on it. There is a close up picture showing this unique lock. We did match up a key that does work with this lock. We are calling this trunk a flat top, although this trunk has a very slight factory arch to the top which is noticeable in ths close up side view picture. Removable Tray For Antique Camel Back Trunk ~ Restoration
Here is a rare find. this is the tray from an antique trunk. The measurements are approx. 34 5/8" in l e ngth. 19 9/16" width at the bottom. 19" width at the top and approx.4 5/8" deep. As you can see in the photo's the top is warped, and one of the leather straps is broken. There are some water stains as well. Selling as is, as you see it. This is a great beginning for restoration. So many antique trunks are missing this tray.

This is a beautiful hand carved Chinese camphor wood chest up for bidding. Personally pictures do it no justice. Camphor is a natural repellant against moths and wood boring insects. It is beautifully hand carved on the top. Sides and front of the chest with brass brackets. It still has the original label attached on the inside of the lid as you will notice in a photo. The chest has original key and working lock. Has minor scratching and scuffs and a slight chip on the bridle to the horse on the top(please look closely at photos to view condition for yourself) The bottom has an aged crack. Antique REFINISHED Flat Top Steamer Travel Trunk Chest Original Hardware
Refinished antique steamer trunk circa late 1890’s. Early 1900’s with original hardware. This has a wonderful flat top surface, perfect use for a table or at the bottom of a bed. Plus it is nice and roomy, excellent for extra storage. The inside has been stripped of the original paper. Brass colored hardware and front lock, no key. The wood has been finished in a nice warm medium pine color with a not to shiny, not to dull, just right finish. The metal hardware has not been repainted, only cleaned. I like to leave the hardware in its found state. Rear hinges are in working order and original inside hardware holds lid up perfectly. Up for sale is this unique large flat top trunk. It has amazing folk art black lines painted on the brass all original. The outside is green and in pretty decent shape which is original as well. the inside has original insert and wallpaper. This trunk stored yarn all its life almost so it has no musty smell at all. You could use this right away its that clean. It measures 23x37x21 a great size would be a great coffee table. The only thing missing is the lock which the elder lady said fell out 20 years ago. Antique Steamer Trunk Pressed Tin Curved Hardwood Slats w/ Original Tray + Keys
A recent estate sale purchase. An antique steamer trunk with a domed lid. The original tray and two keys. The top of the trunk has beautiful curved hardwood slats held in place with brass tacks. It has two leather handles that are in very good condition, brass plated hardware and pretty medallion trim. The trunk has a plain black metal covering with embossed tin(acorn pattern) on the top, down the front and partially down the sides and back. The latches on either side of the lock read' PAT-JUL 97' and the lock is marked' LONG LOCK CO. The trunk comes with its original tray with a pretty cover on one side and the entire inside, including the tray, is lined with an attractive patterned paper. The bottom is also metal covered and has two plain hardwood slats running the length on each side. There are three small metal wheels near ... moreeach corner(one is missing) that make the trunk easier to move around on any hard flat surface. There is some surface rust here and there but nothing serious and no rust through(no holes) It measures approximately 32" long X 23" high at the highest point near the center X 18" wide. The two keys do not appear to be original to this trunk but they work perfectly, the previous owner's family probably had to find a locksmith to open it because once it's closed it's automatically locked, the keys will be placed in an envelope and taped to the outside so you can get it open when it arrives.

Chest came from a 71 year old women. It belonged to her Grandmother from when she came from Italy to the United States. Wood is wrapped with what looks like tin. Light green color with silver. Antique brass bound wooden trunk/ chest- project? May I state at the beginning that collection is welcome. But I know a"man with a van" who will deliver for 30p per mile round trip within a 100 mile radius, calculated by Google, postcode to postcode from NN7 2HL. Please e-mail me for further info. I couldn't work out how to put all this into the e-bay postage bit- so please ignore the £1.00 delivery! This was bought on e-bay about five years ago- as a gift for my son- who is now into Danish teak and has asked me to sell it for him. Think it was originally a brass bound cedar? household chest. That had a shaped pedestal fitted around the turn of the century along with extra brass hasp and staples for padlocks. It was probably purchased overseas, and when the owner decided to return to the UK, he made it extra secure for ... morethe voyage. It has a large initialled plaque on the lid(R.B. and a nice brass shield shaped escutcheon plate- but no key- also has big solid iron carry handles. The lid has internal locking hinges so you can rummage in safety. Measurements are 2' wide x 15" front to back x 14" high overall. It is in reasonably good condition- wood. Hinges etc are all sound- and looks great. Think the person who sold it me had a half hearted go at restoring it- so could probably benefit from being rubbed down and a bit elbow grease. HERE IS AN ORIGINAL VINTAGE. ANTIQUE METAL COVERED ANTIQUE AUTO CAR TRUNK BOX. Dimensions are 20' INCHES TALL X 18" DEEP X 35" INCHES WIDE. Not sure who it's manufactured by. We believe it is the original brown paint that has minor scuffs and scratches. There is no rusting through. Trunk is still very sound and sturdy and all sides are straight and not excessively dented. Hinges are good and the lid opens and close tight and square as it should. It is used and has wear, surface marks, scrapes and bruises from all those many years of gentle use. the interior and natural back board and inside the lid has been restored natural.
