Antique Trunk-Leather Handles-incls. 2 leather straps, 4 retainers and Tacks-G
Auction includes two black leather straps 9 1/2" long by 1 1/4" wide and about 1/4" thick pre-slotted to receive the prongs on the retainers. Four gold painted pronged metal retainers approx. 3 1/2" by 1 1/4" Sixteen split tacks for nailing the retainers(Eight 1" split tacks for the inside and eight 3/4" split tacks for the outside) Once the retainers are nailed in place you have your movable handle. This design will allow for the handle to flatten out when not in use. Drill the sides of the trunk about 1/4" where the prong is to be located. These are the best type of handles.Very sturdy and can be used on medium and large trunks. Free postage.

Wonderful antique steamer trunk from family estate. Was my great-aunt's piece. In very good condition for it's age(late 1800's) This trunk measures 30" W x 15 1/2" D x 19 1/2" H. Bent wooden handles are in great condition and solid. Wood slats have a nice rich patina and metal is embossed with shell pattern and shows no rust. Original rollers on bottom, but at some point, additional rollers added. Trunk sits firmly on these rollers. Interior is in great condition with some peeling wallpaper. This is a great piece. It is a German antique steamer trunk I believe to be from about 1890-1910. This is a rare style of trunk. Double locked and oak banded(made with half round oak banding instead of flat wood bands) The exterior canvas is mostly intact with some nicks and tears from use. The color of the exterior varies a bit from darker to lighter brown. There are remnants of some old old labels on the outside of the trunk as well. All original locks. Hardware, etc. The interior lining is mostly there. But with some tears. The leather handles are still on, but one is broken and the other is very worn and would probably break if used. Overall it's in pretty good condition for the age. And it is awesome! Measurements: 18 inches tall. A Ladycomet Refinished Dome Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/Straps, Key & Tray
Fabulous Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Straps& Buckles. Working Lock With Key and Interior Tray This beautiful trunk sure has taken on quite a transformation from the time that we have purchased it. It was very rustic and in dire need of help. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 30 inches. From floor to top is approximately 25 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 19 inches. This lovely dome top top should date back to the mid to late 1800's and it appears to be made up of pine and poplar base wood with oak outer slat boards. We have finished the wood with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The wood has a nice reddish brown color to it. There are some typical older distress marks on the wooden surfaces. These markings include older nicks and dings along with some slight ... moreareas of discoloration. The majority of the trunks that we refinish have similar distress marks. This one comes with the original working lock. We have found a key that does activate the lock mechanism. The metal parts that make up this nice trunk are not brass and have therefore been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. This one was missing the front latches, so we have run a pair of Amish made leather straps with roller buckles up the front and across the top. Instead of having the metal latches, you can use the straps to secure the trunk's top to it's base when buckled in addition to the working lock. As far as repairs go, there were two pieces of hardware missing where the outer slat boards meet. So we have replaced these with some home made pieces that look somewhat similar. There was also a section of an outer slat board missing, and we replaced it with a piece of slat board from a parts trunk. Unusual Clinton"Wall" trunk manufactured in Clinton. MA about 1900 give or take 10 years. A wall trunk is hinged so that you don't have to pull it away from the wall when you open the lid. Very good antique shape. Tin has two-toned raised grapevine pattern. Brass key shield. Cast iron hinges are stamped with manufacturer's name etc. Trunk has original tray fitted for the wall design with a huge maker's label still intact. Antique Dometop. Dovetailed oak chest looks to be 19th century, beautiful scene painting around entire chest. I do not know anything abouut this scene. All I know is it is beautifully handpainted. I don't know the artist or maker. I purchashed from an estate sale. The colors are blue, green, white, and a yellowish tone. Original handles in tact, which is rare as most broke off over time. The wood has been finished in a nice warm medium pine color with a not to shiny, not to dull, just right finish. The metal hardware has not been repainted, only cleaned. I like to leave the hardware in its found state. Rear hinges are in working order and original inside hardware holds lid up perfectly. Refinished Civil War Era Dome Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest Very Nice
I am listing a Beautiful Refinished Antique Dome Top Civil War Era Trunk. This trunk is probably from the mid 1870's period. As some of the hardware is marked 1872. T he trunk's dimensions are from left to right across the front- 26 inches. From floor to top is approximately 19 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 15 inches. I have removed all of the original paper that covered this trunk, inside and out. The trunk is made entirely up of pine wood. The wood has been finished with three coats of clear lacquer. The wood is in great shape with a couple of stress cracks in various places which are quite common on trunks this old. This one comes with the original tray. The front latches are also original and do work. The side handles are really unique and quite rare to see anymore. They are made of wood and are usually broke. These ... morere in excellent shape. Going to the interior, I have finished the interior wood with two coats of clear lacquer. The interior is in pretty good condition considering how old this trunk is. The exterior bottom underneath the trunk has normal wear. It also has the four factory original rollers and slats. I have not been able to find this Louis Vuitton hat box anywhere on the internet. And I have been looking for over 10 years. I am assuming it is quite rare. I am not a collector, but I believe this antique LV belongs in a collector's house or a museum, with other fine LV pieces. I know very little of its history, but what I do know is it came over from Europe with a woman who immigrated here(Through Ellis Island) and ended up in New Mexico. The box is lightweight, and made of a type of hardened leather, that is as hard as plastic, and thin. The noticeable age wear is a 3 inch split in the lid(see picture) with a small hole resulting(looks easily repaired) Also, the bottom is warped, and the leather is a bit wavy. Beautiful antique trunk made around the turn of the century! This unique extra large antique trunk was made by Haskell Brothers. Chicago U.S.A. It has the original two removable inside skirt shelves. The outside trunk canvas with strapping is in very good condition considering the age. The trunk has all metal buckles and brass trim except one small part of the lock. Inside the top lid is the original pocket with fastener. The trunk measures appx 24 in high x 46 in wide x 21 in deep and it has not been refinished. As you can see from the photos to the left and above. It is lined with a floral patterned paper and has a beautiful lithograph containing dogwood tree blossoms, a child in victorian dress and two children that appear to be Eskimo/Inuit with a dog. One of the children is riding in a sled with the other standing behind probably on the runners. As you can see. This tray is in pretty rough shape. However the art was so beautiful we had to rescue it and hope someone can use it! This tray measures 27 3/4" x 13 1/4" on the very bottom. It then angles up to measure 27 3/4" x 14" The piece measures 7 1/4" at the middle from the bottom ... moreto the highest part of the dome. Here is a very nice Antique Louis Vuitton steamer trunk. Its the highest end model with all brass hardware and leather trim and a zinc bottom. Interior is clean with 2 trays. This is the very early hand woven linen monogram canvas which was produced from 1896-1904. The serial number 106906 should put it around 1899. For your consideration is a beautiful anti que round top Civil War era trunk. It is also known as a stagecoach trunk. Based on the lock. The hand forged iron handles and the hand forged nails I believe this trunk dates to 1850-1860. Also please notice the quality. Unusual, hand cut. Dove tailed corners. This trunk is made from six solid pine boards. All sides, top, and bottom are made of a single wide pine board. The top has a couple of small cracks due to the wood losing its moisture over its 150+ years of life. It comes with a working lock but missing the key. The trunk measures 30" wide X 15" deep X 13" high. It does not have a tray as trunks during this time were not equipped with trays. Up for auction is a very old antique"METAL STEAMER TRUNK" with"2 ORIGINAL KEYS" The numbers on keys are"T46" and the"ORIGINAL PAPER TUFFER TAG" still attached. The lock on the front is a working"LONG" lock. This trunk is actually in pretty good shape especially the inside. Please see pictures! The original tag on the front says: TUFFER LUGGAGE 21W, STANDARD TRUNK AND SUITCASE CO. LOS ANGELES, CALIF. It does have a very unique color of"Blue and Gold" The right leather handle is separating a little and this you can't tell by the pictures. The ottoman has been freshly upholstered in in green two-ply wool and silk hand embroidered on pure cotton crewelwork. The ottoman features a working hinged lid. To the bottom of the ottoman. There is a mahogany moulded frieze. The ottoman stands on the original mahogany shaped but feet with the original mug castors. This ottoman would be ideal for storing magazines; music or clothes and it would look great in a variety of rooms from the living room or bedroom in front of the bed. This is a beautiful. Rare J.R. Hughes& Co. wardrobe steamer trunk in great condition. It is all original, including the hangers and the original leather handle. The top opens on one side to access the hangers. And the hangers also slide out on telescoping metal rods, as shown in the photo. The drawers include 1 hat box. 1 folded box and 2 small drawers The original lock is intact. But I do not have the key. Has all the original wooden hangers. For your consideration is a fully refinished oversize antique flat top steamer trunk. The trunk has its original canvas covering and all original hardware including a solid brass working lock with key. The design is unique including two interior trays. An auto lift for the top tray and a small front door for easy access to the lower tray. The trunk measures 36" wide X 22" deep X 27" high. New to the trunk are both trays. Antique Trunk - 1872 Patent Date - Beautifully Restored - Awesome Trunk
For sale today is a very nicely restored antique humpback trunk and the restoration turned out very well. I found two patent dates on the trunk. One is on the latches of July 1872 and on the hardware of March 1881 which makes this awesome old humpback a 110 to 130 years old- a true antique. This trunk was structually sound when the restoration started and the metal bottom is in good solid condition. Has had multiple coats of paint applied and has the original bottom slats.The trunk has the three original hinges which are fancy and tight and work well. There are 45 pieces of original polished hardware and has the original center lock which has been polished- no key. A new black leather lid lifter has been installed. Both the original mechanical latches are fancy, heavy duty, tight and works well. There are 14 original solid oak slats in a ... moregolden oak color on the trunk. The interior has been removed. The metal/tin is very good condition Still has the four original metal wheels on the bottom and the trunk rolls easily. Two new black leather handles were installed with the original end caps. The trunk retains the original metal lid stay and the lid closes well. If you are interested in this trunk please make an offer. I will consider any reasonable offer. This awesome old humpback is 34W. 19D and 23.55H and weighs 44 lbs. The measurements for the trunk when it is packed and ready to ship are 37W, 24D, 27H and will weigh 56 lbs.
