Drawers are wrapped in yellow canvas except where the floral fabric is present. Drawers are wood! The chest has brass or brass plated heavy duty rounded corners. The strapping is some form of inflexible metal. Steel perhaps. The leather handle is missing one end and does slip out. But w 85% of handle present the handle could be duplicated w authenticity to original design! Emblems are beautiful! Shiny and detailed. L.W. is painted and bright in a classical shadow block font. The lock outside works as does top drawer lock! Original keys. All hinges and seaman are solid and tight. Trunk is in excellent functioning condition! The laminated hangers are included! This is for an antique childrens or salesmens sample dome top trunk. It is 14 inches wide. 9 1/4 inches high and 9 inches front to back. There are 3 wooden'straps' or ribs on the lid, and wood trim elsewhere. The old leather handles are long gone, but the fittings are still there. There are embossed metal grape leaves and vines on the front, back, top, and sides of the trunk(see photos) On the bottom of the trunk there is a long crack in the wooden bottom from the wood being old and dried, and it is sturdy, has been this way when I bought it many years ago. This is a beautiful Original 1877 Victorian Dome Lid Steamer trunk. It was refurbished at some point, It came from a very well cared for estate. it measures about 34" Long, 19" Wide, and 25" Tall, I don't have the key, the lock says 1877 as shown, it is missing 1 caster on the bottom, it does show some slight staining as shown on the front, not really noticeable, this is over 130 years old, a very nice piece. The bottom looks to be in beautiful condition as well. Chest, military campaign chest or possibly a set of drawers at some stage. Each handle is as shown and has a recessed part to put your fingers in to grip round the central carry bar. Both are still fine for use today and there may be someone out there restoring a piece of furniture that requires two handles. They possibly date to the 19 th century. Condition: I am selling these basically as you see them in the photos. Both handles have age tarnishing and little scores/ marks to the brass ... morefrom age/ use. Some remnants of old paint to the surface can also be seen. But they both would polish up well. The rounded/ curved brass part to the back of each has some light dings; these could be just left as they are or possibly tapped back out if required. The dings to not affect the use of the handles. Two chestnut colored leather straps cut from cowhide 1 1/4" wide by 8 1/2 inches long. Thickness is 1/4" Four brass plated metal strap ends. 1" long split head brass tacks to nail the leather to the trunk. Tacks are to be placed two per end under the position of the metal strap ends in a verticle position for best attachment. Form the permanent handle loop to suit before completing the nailing. Split head tacks 3/4" are to fasten the metal strap ends. The handles measure approx 10 1/2" metal end to metal end but can be shortened by cutting a bit off of the leather strap if required to fit. free postage

Here is an awesome opportunity. They don't come any better than this because they are in museums. I bought this from a 96 year old lady whose family has owned it since its birth. She hated to part with it but had no room in her assisted living facility. It is a beautiful camel back steamer trunk in original condition. It is an amazing piece of history and an incredible antique with an awesome look. There is hardly any rust except on the bottom and very minor. The original lining is still there and is made of paper. The leather handles are still there and in good shape. The paper lithographs are in good shape. This is one amazing trunk. Antique American Leather over Wood Society Trunk - Late 1800s
Offered- An outstanding Leather over Wood Society Trunk. The trunk is in extremely good condition- with just a couple of minor flaws. The trunk measures 18 inches across- 10 inches wide- and stands 11 1/2 inches tall. Trunks of this nature were widely used during the Victorian era- to hold Society Hats and other paraphernalia associated with that particular Society. This trunk is marked: photo#10) G.O. Gordon Lodi. Wis. Robert Macoy(Cross- 3- Period) I do not know which Society the Cross and 3 represent. The interior of the trunk is Cedar Wood. There is a form to hold the Society Hat- and a drop down inner lid to hold other accessories. There are a couple of cracks in the Cedar lining. There is a label on the inner lid that reads: The M. C. Lilly Company Manufacturers of Military and Society Goods Columbus. Ohio There is also a silver colored ... moreplaque over the lock with the above manufacture noted. The leather on this trunk is a beautiful Amber/Medium Brown color- with a darker brown outline. The stitching is perfect and all of the rivets are 100% intact. There are very heavy duty Black Metal Hinges with a patent date of 1866. The leather is in very good condition- as the photos reflect- with scuffing and/or scraping commensurate with age. The silver colored lock is fully intact however I do not have the key. The lock is marked: Pat. April 1877(Over 2 Stars) The leather handle is perfect. As is the case with trunks of this nature- the straps that connect to the buckles on the front are used and very fragile. They are intact but do have breaks. I have taped the backs for stability. Also- the left front leather loop that holds the top leather strap in place is missing- please see Photo#9. This is a very nice item- I have a couple of these trunks in my personal collection and they are great for storage- perfect for fragile Christmas Decoration. Typical of this time period, and has wood and metal construction. It features ornate iron hardware and trim. And leather side handles. Side Leather handles are intact. This wonderful trunk has not been refurbished and is in good condition overall. None of the veneer is missing. The interior’s“decopage” illustrated paper lining) has a decorative floral pattern through-out. The intact original trays are all inside and structurally sound. It has 4 compartments. 2 in a removable tray and one large main compartment. The upper tray is constructed of a heavy cardboard type material. The main compartment is accessible by lifting the sides of the top tray. The trunk is very nice and is ... morevery much in original condition. The leather handles are intact and in their original condition. The trunk has the original hardware but the main lock has no key. There are two side clasp closures to the right and left of the center lock. There are 4 small intact wheels on the bottom of the trunk to ease movement. The wheels are in good working order. The trunk has no major dents or damage. There are a few minor dings but they are not very noticeable and they do not distract from the beauty of this trunk. The interior is aged and is in untouched and unrestored condition. It is quite lovely with only a tiny 1 inch repairable tear in the decorative paper lining. There are n ice embossed designs on the tin work on sides. Top, front& back. The Trunk/Chest measures 31.5 inches long 18.5 inches wide and 21.5 inches tall providing over 7.4 cubic feet of interior space. Weighs about 50-60 lbs. Beautiful Completely Restored Embossed Metal Antique Toy or Doll Trunk
This Toy trunk is a great size at 14" long. 9" wide, and 10" high. Three wide, grooved hardwood slats on top. Working lock with key, and embossed leather handles. Completely restored interior that duplicates the original design. Now on to the metal. The embossed metal covering has been restored to its original finish. This is NOT Gold paint! The process I used was the same as was done in the late 1800's. The finish is a clear Shellac that has been tinted with Red and Yellow tints derived from the spices Spanish Annatto, and Turmeric. Antique c1860 Jenny Lind StageCoach Steamer Trunk Domed Top
This is a beautiful antique Jenny Lind Civil War Era Pine Stagecoach Steamer Trunk dating to around 1860. The trunk has a domed top with front to back metal banding and brass studs and hardwood horizontal slats. The trunk has its original steel lock. The trunk has provenance with the name in Braille on the bottom left of the lid. It is J. Bagnall& Sons. The Trunk was made in England from 1850- 1860. The back hinges and side leather straps are not original but do have some age. PLEASE NOTE: the brass cap on the left side of the lid is missing in the photo but I do have it and will be returned to the trunk. The trunk maintains its original pine planks on the bottom. Antique Hand Painted Pennsylvania Dutch German Wedding Blanket Trunk Chest
This is a beautiful antique hand painted chest or trunk. It is decorated on 4 sides with flowers. The flower painting is in pretty good shape on the sides and on the top. The escutcheon is very unique. The trunk measures roughly 46 inches wide by 23 inches deep by 25 inches high. It has been passed down in my family for several generations. I can remember it always being in a guest bedroom in my grandparents home and they were art and antique collectors. I am in the process of downsizing and I have quite a few pieces to sell. I would estimate late 18th to early 19th century. The hardware and lock are iron and the locking mechanism is very primitive in design. I do not have a key. The paint is in good condition but there is some wear on the corners and edges. The interior is in pretty good shape. The boards are solid. Nice Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Straps& Buckles and Working Lock& Key Here we are offering a nice refinished flat top steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. This one is a true flat top with no factory arch. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 30 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 20 1/2 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 17 1/2 inches. This lovely trunk is made up of poplar base wood with ash or oak outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane. There are plenty of older distress marks on this trunk. This includes some older nicks and dings on the wood in various places along with a couple of small holes in the metal in a few spots. These markings have accumulated over time and are what gives the trunk some of it's antique appearance. We ... morehave the original signed working lock in place on this trunk. It is signed. Corbin Cabinet Lock Co New Britain" We did match up a key that does work with this lock. This one originally had leather straps with buckles that had eroded away, so we have run a nice pair of Amish made leather straps with roller buckles in the same location where the original ones once were. The front latches are also original and work properly since the springs are intact. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. Going to the inside of this lovely trunk, we have finished the wood with two coats of polyurethane. We added a nice trunk maker's style picture of a Victorian girl holding her pet cat which has been applied to the underside of the top. There is a stress crack running along the back of the trunk that we did have to glue to ensure strength in this area. We also remounted the hinges that hold the top in place since they were loose. Going to the exterior bottom underneath this trunk, we had to replace the two bottom slat boards. We also installed a set of four metal glides, one at each corner. MAGNIFICENT"MOTHER OF ALL BLANKET CHESTS" GIGANTIC DOVETAILED SIX-BOARD-BOX õ Actually I think this heroic trunk is an Indonesian Dowry Chest. Or Javanese Storage Trunk(or" Grobog" in Bahasa) To my knowledge. These were the most spectacular, titanic dovetailed chests made anywhere at any time. Each side of this chest is a single gigantic slab of Teak. Cut by hand from the giant Teak trees that once were plentiful in the region. This is the Real Deal, a now rare form, and a magnificent example. The work in this piece is astounding. Every incredibly wide board is hand-planed. Revealing the rich, dark ripple of the aged teak through the subtly faceted carving. The moldings are hand-planed into the boards. The magnificent dovetails seem almost large enough to be a log cabin, the carvings lovely and tasteful subtle coloration ... moreto the wood rich& warming. The iron work is tremendous, robust, aged, hand-forged& intense. And as was the tradition, it's on these really great, large, built-in solid teak wheels! The top slab measures an incredible nearly 25" wide by 36" long in a single slab. Overall height is about 36-1/2" There are two handy compartments inside. One the full height of the interior and one with space underneath. I've been a collector of dovetailed chests for many years& I've collected some absolute beauties. This one is about the most heroic single-slab six-board box I've seen. The Indonesian Grobog chests can be very ornately carved& painted with striking colors. Indonesia is known for its amazing tradition of woodworking and crafts. I like that this one is much more simple& plain than most. And that the aged wood is allowed to be the most prominent surface. Indonesian chests like this are getting very rare. There was a time back in the 1990's when great containers of Indonesian Antiques were being shipped over. But like the flood of large Chinese Antique chests& cabinets that seemed to crest around the time of the Three Gorg

This was really a great find.a turn of the century Late Ottoman Turkish or Middle Eastern inlaid with mother of pearl walnut chest or dowry or blanket box. The pattern involves stars and other geometric shapes and some carvings that resemble birds and it is in very good condition. Patina is beautiful and finish is original. The base is an interesting combination of incised lines and inlaid mother of pearl stars on a reticulated base. It is all hand dovetailed. Height = 19 5/8" Length = 33 5/8" Depth = 16 5/8" Add a piece of glass to the top and have the perfect coffee or even side table. Beautiful Antique Vanderman Strong Box This is an 1897 Vanderman Strong Box which has been professionally restored and is in absolutely beautiful condition. It was made by the Vanderman Mfg. Co. of Willimantic. Conn. and patented July 13, 1897. Vanderman manufactured these boxes in several different sizes, many of which were used as tool chests and by the construction trade. It is made of 1/16" steel which was formed into a rectangular shape and on the top, sides, and bottom are solid oak wood staves/slats riveted to the steel. The corners have custom fit steel reinforcing at every outside edge point. There is a Vanderman brass plaque at the lower center of the front panel. Additional locking mechanisms are in each of the two upper corners of the lid and body wherein railroad style locks were used to secure bolts which are no longer ... morepresent. The original bolts are not included, but I am including two replica bolts, similar to the originals, that can be used to"lock down" the top. The bolts are hex head cap screws in 304 stainless steel and have been given a black oxide finish to match perfectly. There is a large handle on each end which features a stop mechanism that doesn't allow the handle to go beyond a 90 degree position so that no hands could be crushed due to the excessive weight which this kind of box typically held. Unfortunately, the original lock is not included. The oak slats are all in excellent condition and the wood tone of the oak is really impressive. All the steel rivets have been polished and look great against the oak. Matching the rivets that also hold the box together. The body of the box has been polished clean with a wire wheel and is smooth to the touch. There are a few minor dents/dings, but nothing major. Several of the photos turned out a little dark. The body of the box is not painted in any way, but rather has a sort of gunmetal gray/steel look and pictures#2 and#3 are best representative of the body color. Antique Doll Trunk 19th C. Camel Back Metal & Wood Charming
Selling is the sweetest antique doll trunk with a domed lid. The trunk measures 16" long. 9 3/4" wide and 12" tall to the dome top. The trunk is made of wood with wood ribs on the outside of the trunk. The trunk is covered with a textured silver tin that is showing some darkening with age. There are metal straps with a black finish on the edges of the trunk and they are held in with small rivets. There are 2 clasps that hold the lid down that look like cast iron. The clasps are marked"Pat. Jul 9 72" The center clasp is brass, although it is old this looks like it was replaced at some time in the past. It measures approx. 23 inches tall 32 inches wide and 20 inches deep. The lock on the front reads Eagle Lock Co. Terrville CT. It has a 1892 patent date on it. The lock has been pocked off. The inside still has its tray which removes easily. There are a couple of lables for Railway Express Agency and the initials A.M.F. on the side. As you can see in the photos it shows some wear. But has that look of history from all the places it has been. I am located in the western suburbs of Chicago, I have it as pick up only. You are bidding on an original antique Steamer Travel Trunk ~ Chest. This trunk is all original. The lock has the following information: Eagle Lock Co. Terryville CT Pat'd June 13. 1882- Dec 6, 1892. This trunk measures: 32" X 20 1/2" by 22 1/2" high. This trunk is in very good condition. All of the wood construction is in very good condition. There are a few rivets missing& one of the 4 rollers is missing. Both leather handles are also missing. The original paper lining is also missing.

Very sturdy and well woven by a skillful craftsman. This is a wonderful antique French chest/ trunk or suitcase, with a solid handle, wicker hinges and a bamboo stalk to hold it closed, ca. early 1900 years. The hinges are in good working condition. One has been early repaired, see pictures. The wicker has its lovely original golden tone. A rare and important Hartmann American steamer wardrobe trunk in excellent overall condition for an antique nearly 100 years old. I have not been able to find the key yet but the trunk is unlocked. It is 42 inches high. 22 inches wide, and 29 inches deep. I will give it a dusting and a light cleaning and it will be ready to enjoy for another 100 years.
