It measures 36 inches long by 24 in ches tall with the lid closed by 20 inches deep. It features a remova ble storage tray and more linens. Beddings. And clothing can be placed underne ath for conv enient additional hu ge storage. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side locking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. So you may want to grab it quick, before it is gone! Note: Not shipping overseas nor to Alaska on this one. Only to domestic United States. ANTIQUE SOLID OAK CHEST TRUNK COFFER, EARLY 1700’s
This antique solid oak chest/trunk/coffer came into our family when it was purchased from an antique store in Summerland. California back in the mid 1980's. It was sold to us with the provenance that it is from the early 1700's and was a ship captain's chest/trunk/coffer and was from England. Condition as shown in the pictures is as we received it and it has been well cared for since it came into our hands. It has the original hand forged iron hardware and does have the original working lock and key. The construction is with wood pegs and the main box is made with one piece oak planks, with the front and side decorations placed over that. Overall dimensions of this piece are: approximately 48" long, by approximately 24" deep, by approximately 24" high. Considering that the planks used in this piece are all straight ... moregrain with no knots, it is quite possible the tree the wood came from was very old itself. You are bidding on an 1893 Antique Steamer Trunk which is in pretty good condition for its age! The inside looks great. Both latches work. On top in the middle, there is a marking reading EST- MADE IN U.S.A-1893, DURABLE trademark, and underneath that, A.LERCHER NEW YORK. I do not know too much about trunks, just a little, so please observe all pictures good and closely before bidding. Both handles are broken/ripped, the one on the left seems to have most of the strap handle, on the right lot of the handle is missing ad shown in picture. The inside flower pattern trays, which there are two, seem to be in great condition. This is a fantastic furniture sample that measures about 14" wide x 9" tall x 8-1/4" deep with hinged lid closed. It weighs about 6 pounds. Made of SOLID CHERRY. And pinned together with WOOD PEG FASTENERS. Feet appear to be hand turned. PLEASE SEE our many photos for details. It’s all solid hard wood that I believe is maple. It has beautiful old bluish-green paint. And hand dovetailed joints. It has handsome metal strapping that goes completely around the trunk. It’s a very sturdy trunk measuring 41” long with handles. 20” wide, and 19-1/2” high. Perfect for a coffee table and storage. The inside of the trunk is very clean. There is a small of wood missing from the bottom side(see picture) And a hinge need a couple of screws for which I did not have the right size. Antique STEAMER TRUNK SS CANADA Halifax Nova Scotia Trans Atlantic Crossing
For antique collectors. This is the kind of opportunity that rarely comes around. Here we have a steamer trunk from the early(very early) 20th Century, we estimate circa 1912. Looking at the many stickers it has on it, it is evident this trunk has traveled great distances. There are stamps from New York, Canada, and even a partially concealed sticker from the Cunard Line. This trunk has some serious history to it. The trunk is marked AC Colvin and the SS Canada. We believe the original owner traveled on steamships for the Hudson Bay Company. Completely refinished antique dome top trunk. I installed new double ply stitched leather handles. very strong) made by local amish here in central PA. The exterior was cleaned, brushed& sealed for protection as well as conservation, I leave the cracks& dents to preserve the character that the trunk has ocumulated over the many years. New high end fabric for the interior was put on after stripping, cleaning, brushing, drying and sealing the interior. some say fabric was not used for the interior originally, but I have seen it on occasions and always in much better shape then wall paper, so for personal preference and long lasting I choose fabric for most of my projects. Antique Victorian Child's Dome Top Steamer Trunk Embossed Metal Hardwood Trim
A pretty antique Victorian style hump back steamer trunk that's in good sound condition. We believe it was used by a child based on the size( 24" long X 15" wide X 17" high at the center) It has curved hardwood slats across the top and hardwood slats across the front, sides and back, there are lots of brass tacks holding the wood in place and the wood has a rich warm patina. The body of the trunk is covered with embossed tin and plain black metal. The leather handles are missing but these are inexpensive and can be purchased any of the trunk restoration sites on-line as well as right here on EBAY. It has two clasps on the front to hold it closed and there's a lock but no key, we are not certain that the lock works so it will arrive open. Two sturdy hinges on the back hold the lid securely in place and the lid fits nice ... moreand snug. The inside is nice and dry and there are the remnants of the old paper that it was lined with here and there. Most folks like to sand down the interior and apply a sealant which eliminates any lingering musty odors, another option is to line it with cedar. The bottom of the trunk is metal covered with three wood runners that have done a fantastic job of protecting the bottom. Near each corner on the bottom is a small metal wheel that makes the trunk easier to move around on any hard flat surface. These antique trunks are not often found in such nice condition, there is very little surface rust and and absolutely no rust through on the metal. A great place to store extra blankets, seasonal clothing, toys, hats& mittens, a display piece for an antique doll collection or antique toys. I once sold a trunk to a grandmother who purchased it to send her grandson off to college!

This is a great old child's or doll's trunk that I have been using as a storage piece. It is a domed or camel hump back top. With wooden ribs. There are are black metal bands with brads across the top, corners& sides. The think wooden ribs arch across the top and around the center circumference of the trunk. The inner structure of the trunk is wood with metal overlay- probably steel. The steel has been faux treated to given a bronzed/copper look. It is original to the trunk, not added. Some scratches on the surface. The original paper trays are inside with some decals. There is a little hook which allows you to open and close the inner"door" images 3& 4. The bottom is wood. Offering an antique trunk with domed lid. Removable divided interior tray beautifully refinished with a quality fabric, velvet ribbon and padded lid. My parents were in the antique business and bought this trunk for me almost 55 years ago and had it refinished. I only stored fabrics in the trunk. It comes to you in great condition weighing almost 60 pounds. I used to have a key for the lock but have not been able to find it. This item is listed for local pick up only. Antique Refinished slightly curved Top Trunk - 5 slat top
Antique refinished steamer trunk dating to the late 1800’s. Ca. 1880’s. This trunk is solid and heavy– it was originally canvas covered and the canvas was removed to highlight the gorgeous wood underneath. This trunk also has had its share of rough riding. The previous owner used it as a wood block of some sort and when we salvaged it– it had many nails hammered into the top– in addition to two round drill holes. Almost looks like it could have been used for bee bee gun practice. My patient husband took all the nails out and sanded the wood smooth. We stained the wood with Early American Stain and then treated the trunk to three coats of Clear Satin Urethane. The wood grain is lovely. This beauty boasts 5 slats on the top. Wonderful decorative hardware, and a beautiful front lock plate. Latches on the front are very nice and work just fine. ... moreHinges on the back are solid and it retains original lid stay. Gorgeous Victorian era antique dome-top steamer trunk. The metal sides and top of this chest are embossed with an intricate floral design that has been painted a wonderful gold color. Contrasting black metal covers the corners and edges and is decorated with braces at the corners and where it meets the oak braces. Two heavy leather handles on either side are worn and broken. Giving the piece an authentic aged fee. The metal lock and fasteners are impressed with decorative designs with an arts& crafts flair. It is called a Saratoga trunk which became popular with the wealthier class for those traveling to spas and to the Saratoga Springs in New York during the Victorian Era. It was a large domed top s tylewith fancy trim. Covered in either leather or metal. Early trunk ads and catalogs describe the Saratoga as"large round trunk of the highest class. Antique Small Child's/Doll Embossed Wooden Metal Overlaid Steamer Trunk
Up for bid is an antique child's/doll wooden steamer trunk. The trunk is overlaid in embossed painted metal. The interior is covered in paper. The trunk measures 14" x 8 1/2" x 9" high. The handles are intact. Some of the nails are slightly loose especially the ones in the hinges. The locking mechanism is no longer functioning. I am not an expert but this came from a friend's mother's estate and they had quite a few trunks that had been handed down. Solid hinges in good working order, 2 working latches, and a center hasp-type lock(unfortunately, no key) There is some of the original label still visible on the top and the side. At some point in its past it has had a protective coating(poly? applied to the exterior. The inside of the trunk is unfinished wood in good condition. Up for sale today we have an antique wood storage trunk chest. This antique storage trunk features latches that were patented June of 1877. Therefore the chest may be dated sometime during the late 1870's-90's. This storage chest is in very good overall condition for it's age, but the backside of the chest has a split in the wood on the rear left latch. The locks feature a cross style that turn to unlatch the chest. The interior features a variety of styles of paper coverings over the shelf and underside of the lid. This chest is on wheels, but the wheels need to be oiled and one needs to be tightened. This antique storage trunk chest would make a great addition to any antique furniture collection! Similar ones seem to be from the late 1800's but this is unique in the fact that it is covered in metal with wood trim. It has a flat top. Removable tray and wheels that I placed coasters over. NO RESERVE… This auction is for a very old Wood Chest. This piece came from a Hollywood Movie Prop Sale. I have no idea what movie it was used in. The Chest measures approx. 22 inches long. 12 inches wide and about 11 inches tall to the peak on the hump top. The chest is very old constructed with dove tail corners. Somewhere all the road someone lined it with old wall paper. That paper is also old as there are areas where it is coming off and very worn. It would make a nice project for someone to re line the inside with different vintage paper. There are many old age cracks and repairs. There is a center narrow piece of wood at the very center of the top that has been replaced. There is some old termite damage near the bottom. And lots of other old scars and scrapes from all the years. Please not the inside lip on the edge is missing on the ... moreright side, but that doesn't show when the lid id closed. Even though it looks like there s a keyed local on the front, there is not. It's a neat looking old piece that would make a nice restoration project.
