It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side locking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. Antique Trunk Hardware Heavy Solid Brass Trunk Lock w/ Key by Hillebrand& Wolf. Lock plate measures 3 1/4 by 4 1/2. Hasp measures 3 3/4 by 3 3/4. This lock has a very rare locking mechanism. It is one of the few trunk locks that will lock without using the key. This is accomplished by a spring loaded locking pin. However. Whats more unusual than that, is what can be called a safety latch. Inserting the hasp into the lock, locks the trunk, but you can use the key to turn the latch even more, which is a secondary locking position. This made it harder for thieves to pick the lock. Antique Miniature Trunk Found in a local house estate is this small antique hand made trunk on feet. The wood looks to be cherry but I am not positive so please judge for yourself. It is a solid well made trunk with dovetailed ends and it has its original lock but no key. It is in good overall condition. See all my photographs. The base looks as if it has been repaired and the feet may or may not be original, see close up photo#4. Both square head and round head nails have been used in its construction. This trunk was found in Giles county in the Blue Ridge mountains of southwest Va. and comes from the original family. It measures about 9.5" high by 14" across by 8" deep. It weighs 6.5 pounds. Rare Antique Gold Rush Stagecoach Trunk, 1860's, tray, key, Restored and Lined
A beautiful and rare stagecoach or"gold rush" style American trunk made from about the mid 1860's to 1870. It measures 31 1/2 inches wide. 20 inches tall, 18 inches deep. Made of thick pine with metal banding and hardwood slats, attached with dozens of large brass buttons! A fabulous and impressive looking trunk which is very hard to find with six bands and in such great condition. The original lock is complete with the fancy brass cover and working key. The handles are the original style, sliding arrow design, attached with the original holders and brass buttons. A new all wood tray was made which makes the trunk much more useful inside. It was thoroughly cleaned out and relined with nice quality fabric in blue and off-white colors. I preserved the original large lithographed picture in the lid, which shows a lady on horseback ... moreand her dog! The bottom is in great condition and has the original metal rollers. A nice high rounded top which allows for more storage inside and gives it a great look. A real piece of American history and very useful in the home. Up for sale is this beautiful restored large antique victorian roll top steamer trunk with key. It measures 35" long by 22 1/4" wide and 25" tall. The original canvas that wrapped this trunk has been removed and the wood was sanded. Stained with minwax"cherry" then sealed with two coats of spar urethane(light sand in between coats) The interior lining has been removed and the wood was sanded then stained. The trunk shows obvious aesthetic signs of age but these details give it the perfect patina and look. The structure of this trunk is solid and it is functional as a coffee table, blanket chest, etc. A great piece with tons of character that will be the focal point of any room. Untitled Document Purchased at a recent estate sale in NC full of fine antiques. This beautiful ornate trunk was a nice rare find. It has many exquisite and elaborate details. Please see images. It measures 23" tall. 30" wide and 17.5" deep. A collector's item! Looks great for its age though it does have some wear. The only parts I notice missing on the exterior are one of the leather handles and it did not come with a key. There is a name written on the right side. See photos to judge condition. It has its caster wheels. Overall it is very nice and I believe everything is original. The inside seems to be original and in very good shape for the age. Charming old wardrobe trunk available to add to your collection of antiques! Since it is super heavy. Local Pickup only. UPDATE! We are willing to negotiate delivery within approximately 75 miles of our home! What's so cool about this wardrobe trunk is that it has features that so many of the other wardrobes you see don't have or they're missing! Also. It was restored approximately 20 years ago and is still in good condition. You may want to repaint or reline the trunk to make it your own, but you don't have to worry about a bunch of repairs because they were already done. For example, the metal trim was not brass and so it was painted. It could easily be repainted to suit your needs. As for the unique, original features, the trunk includes: a wooden ironing board, metal bracket for iron, a pull out holder for the ironing ... moreboard, 6 wooden hangers- one of which holds a cloth laundry bag, a removeable wooden box(holds shoes.lap desk? and 4 drawers- among other features. It's missing the outside lock and original leather handle(handle was replaced with a strong leather buckled handle) The key to the inside lock, the narrow flat bar that slides in front of the drawers, and some material behind the drawers. Some of the material is faded. The hinges and drawer pulls are secure and in functional condition except one outside latch(this doesn't prevent the trunk from closing tightly. The metal rods that hold the hangers extend out to hold the ironing board and are easy to slide in/out. All the drawers are lined with material and are in good/clean condition. The top drawer is divided into three compartments and is in good condition. The two middle drawers are in good condition too. The bottom drawer is deep and has a shallow pull out tray which exposes a cool feature. The feature is a sphere shaped cloth form that straps to the side of the drawer with leather. The original leather is still in place and functional. But somewhat brittle. My guess is that a hat could be pinned to the form to keep it saf

Very nice miniature trunk. measures 18" x about 9.25" x about 9.25" nicely lined. One ding in corner of tray. the straps are missing from the side handles(I've seen folks replace such with old weathered leather belts) nice hammered metal strips with design. no key to lock, but you can close it and open it by sliding up. there is a hinge in the corner of the inside that attaches to the lid, and a small nail is missing to attach it.modest wear on edges/ corners. Antique Beals & Selkirk Steamer Chest / Trunk
Antique(circa 1890- 1910) steamer trunk by one of the luxury brands of its time. Beals& Selkirk. The company was founded in 1889 in Detroit before relocating to Wyandotte. Michigan a few years later. The trunks produced by Beals and Selkirk were considered to be amongst the finest of their time. These trunks were built to withstand the toughest of handling. They were reinforced with leather or metal corners, straps, bumpers. handles, hinges, and locks. After the San Francisco earthquake in 1906 left thousands of people homeless, Beals and Selkirk sent 6 carloads of trunks. They also mass produced a simpler style for the army during WWI and WWII. By the 1920's, the Beals and Selkirk company shifted from trunks to handbags, appliance covers, and doctors' bags. This particular trunk is is good working order. But is in need of restoration ... morein order to bring it back to its original condition. Obviously with its age. US Army ? Antique Vintage Military paint Suitcase Trunk Case
I do not know if this is a military issue suit case or for civilian use. It is an Old find. It looks it has been repainted in the past in Olive Green. It has metal panels. Leatherstrip handles and brass locking devices. I do not know at what State this suitcase was made but the main lock has a New Jersey factory logo. What you see it what you will get. It is a FULL size case and i can get actual dimensions upon request. It is in good condition with many Oil Can dents here and there.

They weigh 93grammes each and have been gently cleaned- rope material is a gold colour, metal fittings are silver in colour and are lightly pitted. Probably quite scarce. Rare Vintage Antique Cast Iron Figural Tree Branch-Trunk Plant Stand
You are looking at a great antique figural cast iron plant stand that is made to look like tree branches. Limbs, etc. I have never seen another one of these! Stand is most likely from the late 19th century. This piece was obtained at a high end estate sale recently where there were alot rare items. The hexagonal top has come loose some time ago, and was repaired by placing a bolt in it as shown, but this piece is very sturdy. The planter that I have resting in it weighs nearly 40 lbs.

Beautiful Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk with Original Working Lock and Original Working Key My husband and I have refinished over 130 trunks. Each one is a treasure of its own. The history of each trunk dates back as early as the 1 800's. Each has its own unique story. While owning a trunk of your own. You can enhance the tradition and legacy with your own family. This is a very nice decorative refinished flat top steamer trunk. The particular d imensions for this are 32" length. 19" width and 21" height. This beautiful trunk would make a great trunk for a college student to keep stuff in, or for someone to store old photo books in. To begin the restoration of this trunk we began by taking off the old canvas covering and all paper on the inside. Next we sanded the wood on the entire trunk. On the outside and ... moreon the inside. After all the sanding was done, we then applied coats of Polyurethane as the finishing touch to give the wood a nice shine. The trunk has some typical small stress marks and small stress cracks which are common in wood of this age. Next we painted all metal parts of the trunk with a black or gold leaf paint. We then attached 2 new Amish made tan leather hand l es to this beautiful trunk. With this particular trunk we were able to keep the original lock and key and they are in good working condition. Working the way up to the lid of this trunk. You will find the original stay to keep the lid open when wanted. Also on the lid you will find the original label. This is in wonderful condition and very readable. We included a picture to show you the label. We love finding these on trunks, it fills us in on a little bit of the trunk's history. Finally on the bottom of the trunk we painted all the black on that too. Also on the bottom are the four original casters that roll smoothly while moving the trunk. It is constructed of pine box framing with horizontal hardwood slats. The decorative tin is embossed with an alligator pattern and the trunk is secured with steel. Tin and brass hardware. Although its exact age is undetermined. The trunk’s hasp hardware shows a patent date of July 9, 72. Therefore, it’s fair to estimate from its overall construction and appointments that this steamer probably was manufactured between 1872 and 1900. A unique feature of this trunk is that the two front hasps have small levers that allow the lid to be secured in the closed position. The lock tongue is missing, and was not replaced in the restoration, but the lock plate when cleaned revealed brilliant ... morebrass details. This trunk is lightweight and measures 24 inches long. 14 inches wide, and 15 inches high at its crown. In the refinishing. The plain paper that lined the interior and lid was removed and the inside was cleaned, sanded and finished with two coats of clear satin polyurethane to preserve the natural color of the pine. A new floor of cedar was installed and a new tray was built and stained Early American. The exterior was refinished by sanding and wire brushing the tin. Then treating it with rust inhibitor and painted with Rustoleum Satin Black. The hardwood slats were cleaned, sanded, and finished with tung oil, with steel wool between coats to enhance the finish. The embossed“alligator” tin was cleaned and wiped with Minwax Dark Walnut stain to restore its original finish. It was then sealed with tung oil to create its natural look. Antique 1920s Excelsior Salesman Sample Steamer Trunk Miniature Doll Trunk Measurements: Trunk 12" Length 8 1/4" Height 8 1/4" Width Tray 10 3/4" Length 7" Width 2" Height 5 pounds 13 ounces Good antique condition. My client's uncle purchased this trunk for my client when she was a child ill in hospital in the 1920s. The trunk is constructed from wood. Covered with a dark green heavy weight brocade pattern cloth on the outside and green and blue floral design paper on the interior. There are a few scratches and small areas of wear on the outside covering; around some of the metal hardware. The bottom, which has wear spots of less than 1/8" diameter, and one line, less than 1/8" W x 1/2" L, on the lid. A few of these wear areas reveal a cloth weave under the dark green surface. The lid and body ... moreof the trunk have metal banding. Corners and hasps and lock which are attached with metal round head rivets. Metal has age patina. Some rust where finish has worn with surface scratches and surface rub wear. It looks like the metal hardware on the corners and the locks once had a brass finish which shows sporadically across the different metal parts. The bottom metal banding had a black finish once upon a time. All of the banding may have been black. There is no key for the trunk. The outside paper is in good condition with minor scuffing. The interior floral paper has crayon markings on the lid and bottom. There is some missing paper on the interior lid and on trunk's interior sides along the top edges. The insert tray has one intentionally slanted side. The tray is lined with the matching paper and there is missing paper on the corners and along the top rim edge. The tray paper has some stain with powdery residue. The interior lid stop leather strap is broken. Metal central lock device is stamped: USA EXCELSIOR STAMFORD. Fabulous 1800's Antique Doll or Child's trunk. In great shape for it's age- very sound structure and no mildew or musty smell. Measures in inches approximately: 9.75 D X 16 W X 11.5 H. Has been in the family since the early 1970's. Features: Small wooden chest of square design with lovely red/brown lithograph paper bearing beautiful designs. Inside there is a removable. 2 compartment top tray. Tray rails are solid and existing. Tray fits firmly and is supported. All metal stays are solid and in place. Paper covering is original. No mildew or musty smells. Metal features are not damaged nor bent. Lid closes firm and completely aligned. Hinge tight. Straight and completely aligned. Inside. This antique Louis Vuitton steamer trunk most likely dates to the turn of the 20th century. I would guess the early 1900s based on my research. I do have an inquiry placed with Louis Vuitton to try to determine exact purchase date and price, which they say they may be able to supply me with. This trunk has some old water damage, as shown in photos, but is in very good condition overall considering. The original insert is here and the trunk opens and closes as it should. The trunk is clearly marked LV in many areas and has the original canvas strap, which is also clearly marked. The trunk is marked with a large, red H. Antique Steamer Trunk Dome Top keenan brooklyn New York 1800s
Very nice wood dome top trunk in untouched vintage condition. Has part of the original label that refers to the keenan company that made high end trunks and luggage in downtown New York City from the Mid to Late 1800s. Please see all pictures for detail. This trunk may need some work to it and may need a little fixing up if desired by new owner. I think it looks great the way it is with the exception of maybe new handles. Beautiful Refinished Dome Top Steamer Trunk with Working Lock and key and full Interior My husband and I have refinished over 135 trunks. Each one is a treasure of its own. The history of each trunk dates back as early as the 1 800's. Each has its own unique story. While owning a trunk of your own. You can enhance the tradition and legacy with your own family. This is absolutely beautiful very nice decorative refinished dome top hump back steamer trunk from the late 1800's. The particular d imensions for this are 32" length. 19" width and 23" height. This beautiful trunk would make a great trunk for a college student to keep stuff in, or for someone to store old photo books in. To begin the restoration of this trunk we began by taking off the old canvas covering and all paper on the inside. Next we sanded the wood on ... morethe entire trunk. On the outside and on the inside. After all the sanding was done, we then applied coats of Polyurethane as the finishing touch to give the wood a nice shine. The trunk has some typical small stress marks and small stress cracks which are common in wood of this age. Next we painted all metal parts of the trunk with a black or gold leaf paint. We then attached 2 new Amish made black leather hand l es to this beautiful trunk. With this particular trunk we installed a new lock with 2 working keys. The interior of this wonderful trunk under the dome has a hidden compartment section. Notice picture. The lid also has the original picture which is in good condition. You can drop down the door to access this area in the hidden compartment which is also shown in a picture. You will find the original stay to keep the lid open. Finally on the bottom of the trunk we painted all the black on that too. Also on the bottom are the four original casters. This trunk has a very nice interior. This is a great Victorian salesman sample or dolls chest. It measures app. 12" by 7 1/2" by 7" It is domed top. It is missing its handles and some of the paper has rubbed off but all in all it is in beautiful condition considering its age. it has the original hinges and lock. It has a most unusual patriot picture applied to the top. We owe Allegence to No Crown" We are not sure of its origin but it definitely appears of the period. It has the original inside tray and part of a decal on the truck inside top. There is some flaking on the inside consistent with age. Please see the pictures. This lovely antique box measures about 8 1/2" tall x almost 10 1/2" wide and it is 11" deep. It is paper lined on the front and on the top(the simple design is lovely) and the pretty lady on the top is really stunning. This ancient wooden trunk box is incredible for its age. There is no foolery here! It HAD 70 years of dust on it and after a light cleaning here it is. This is an 1850's antique camel back wooden steamer trunk that spent some time on the WHITE STAR LINE's RMS OLYMPIC in 1927. This truck has 4 large CUNARD WHITE STAR LINE luggage claim stickers dated April 24th 1927 and the name Emily Whitehead on the label. The farmhouse estate sale that many of my current listed items are from were owned by the family of J. J. Whitehead. An adventurer/explorer/photographer that I am listing an antique Kalapalo Indian hunting bow. This man was an avid photographer and explorer and was traveling Brazil sometime in the 20's-30's ... morebased on photos. He looks like the original Indiana Jones to me. Photos include pictures of his wife and I believe this is her trunk. This is a very interesting story and if you have time. Please read that antique bow auction. Here is what appears to be his traveling trunk marked Whitehead that was left on the RMS Olympic and had to be delivered to New York as abandoned luggage. Besides being a great story with the RMS Olympia tie in. This is a beautiful old crusty camelback! It has a great old look with large knob rivets and hand wrough iron handles. Original paper lining and a few personal letters from the owners inside. I have not read these but there are about 30 letters all from the 1930's. Measures 28 1/2" wide x 20" deep x 21 1/2" high. There is no questioning the stickering. They are absolutely 1927 RMS Olympic tags and show a delivery charge to New York. Original tag is in place too. Great old paper lining.
