It has two brass handles on each end of the trunk. The one end of the trunk is monogrammed with the initials"EW" It has all its original brass hardware engraved with the Goyard logo. This Goyard trunk is composed of Monogram leather coated canvas with brown wood trim and is lined in ivory toile canvas fabric. This trunk comes with the two original trays and the key. Antique 1910 Excelsior Storage Wardrobe Steamer Trunk (42" X 23") Yellow Brass
Early Vintage Travelling Storage Wardrobe Steamer Trunk dates back to about 1910. 42" tall X 23" wide and deep. Yellow in color with a nice patina. All edges protected by brass plating. There are 6 functioning ball type wheels on the bottom which allows the user to roll the trunk while flat. And an additional 2 functioning wheels allow the user to roll the trunk while standing on end and towing with the leather handle(picture shown) All metal edges do have some wear but this gives the trunk a great look. The locking hardware is functioning. And is stamped EXCELSIOR#4230 Made in Stamford, Conn USA. Excelsior began making this lock in 1910. The locking mechanism is controlled by the exterior latch which in turn stabilizes the drawers for travel(shown in picture) There is 1 key from the Independent Lock Co#1076 Made in Fitchburg. Mass ... moreUSA(valued at $18.95 on Ebay) The interior fabric is a copper monochromatic damask which is in good shape considering the age(picture shown) Once settled at their destination. The traveller may lift the padded top portion of the trunk up using the attached hinges to reveal and unlock the hanging garments(see main picture) There are 5 drawers which feature the same copper damask on their fronts. And brown lining within(picture shown) The top drawer is missing the lock, the bottom drawer is missing the handle, and both drawers do have a little water damage. There are 4 original hangers(1 shirt. 1 pant, and 2 coat) These hangers rest upon a chrome bar which extends outward 18" to allow the traveller to peruse their garments and avoid wrinkling. The hanging garments are protected from dust during travel by a copper damask curtain that snaps closed at the bottom. Approximated weight is 85 lbs. This trunk would make a fabulous decorator's piece in your home as a side table or coffee table. Convert into a bar. Or use for stylish storage, or travel in style, this steamer trunk is fantastic! Up for bid is a really interesting looking antique or vintage BARREL KEY. It could go to any number of antique locks- trunk. Door, cabinet, etc. Please look at the pictures of the key to see the obvious wear and all the measurements. In picture 3. You'll see that this key is bent from use. The letter"Y" is stamped on the handle end and the number"51" is stamped on the other end of the key. I've purchased lots of keys in an effort to find keys for my own trunks. Here are the following measurements: from left to right across the front is 33 1/4 inches. From floor to top is 23 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 19 inches. This trunk is named a wall trunk since it can be put right up against the wall and the lid can be lifted up without hitting the wall since very little space is needed for it to open properly. Most trunks need to be about three or four inches away from the wall for the lid to be opened. Look at the pictures and we have shown the signed and patent dated hinges. It is signed, Clinton Wall Trunk Mfg Co Clinton Mass Patented Feb 25 1890" We detailed these embossed numbers ... moreand letters with black paint to make them more legible. The wood is in it's natural color which is a tannish brown color. There are a couple of typical stress cracks in the wood. Most all of the trunks that we refinish have one or more stress cracks. The front latches are original and work ok since the springs are in place. We have given this trunk a nice older sturdy working lock, signed"Yale" It comes with the proper key so you can lock your personal belongings away from others if you choose to do so. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. Going to the interior, we have made a nice tray for the interior. It rests at the top edge. You can sort smaller items in this tray, then lift it up and place many more items deep inside the belly of the trunk. We have shown a close up picture of

Wonderful antique wooden storage trunk made by B. C. Sweetser& Sons of Portsmouth. N.H. in 1875. We were able to date the trunk as it originally was lined with old newspaper dated June 1875. The newspaper was removed as it was heavily water stained, torn, brittle and musty. We were able to save the original manufacturer label in the center of the interior of the lid. Interior is now clean and can be used to store items. The exterior is original(not refinished, only cleaned) with a warm dark wood patina; original lock(no key) and iron handles. Dome style lid. We bought this Document Chest in Maine almost 10 years ago. They told us it was a'Pony Hide' Document Chest. It is made of wood and covered with rawhide. I think it could be up to 200 yrs. old. I think it is Folkart; It would make a wonderful display or decor piece as it is not too big. 18"L x 9"H x 10.5" deep. It is made of wood. With a gently curved top. Decorative upholstery type tacks hold down the rawhide, thru tanned leather strips. The rawhide has split in a couple of place due to its age, and shrinkage. I believe someone inherited the Chest and changed the first inital from a P to an L. The lock and handles are delicately hand forged Iron. They did not have the key for it. This picturesque immigrant trunk or chest is wormy pine with hand painted floral motifs resembling traditional Scandinavian rosemaling. Hand planed with hand cut corner dovetails. This furniture has a beautiful old finish. Waxed and buffed, only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its warm patina. The interior is very clean. This is a beautiful carved black forest bear desk set probably circa 1900. The set includes a pen tray and ink well holder/ finger moistener/ sponge holder. The piece features a carved bear in mid roar. The bear is standing on all fours and facing the holder for the ink well(finger moisture pad stand? If it was an ink well reservoir. It looks as though it would have held a glass inkwell with its own top, as the wood does not appear to be missing hinges or a top. The pen tray is in front of the bear and inkwell is made to look like a tree trunk. The bear has glass eyes and no coloration or markings that I can find other than what look like trees or the bear's claw marks inside the trunk where the pen would rest. Please see photos. This early trunk was just dug out from a great local estate. This one has early paper labels on it. The Paris one as pic shows is the Gran Hotel Paris. This label is on the front as pic shows. On the top is an American Railway Express sticker from Littleton. N.H. There are actually a few of those labels on outside as pics show. Also on the outside is a larger Bogota sticker. Inside top cover is an old label mostly missing. All there is to make out is F S.Furers of.5 year.the letters TEE. And under that is the word solid. Tray is complete with a lift up lid on each side. Here is a beautiful Jenny Lind trunk from the Civil War period. Jenny Lind trunks are scarce. These were the top model trunks from any trunk maker of the day. They took quite a bit more work to put together and sold for a premium. Jenny Lind trunks were named after the Swedish singer who toured the U.S. in the early 1850's with P.T. Barnum. Known as the"Swedish Nightingale" she is said to have had a trunk like this one with her and they became all the rage for several years. They have a beautiful keyhole or figure eight shape. Most of the trunks like this were made in New England and are each a little different and hand made. The trunk has a beautiful interior with a lid door to store items and an interior shelf. ANTIQUE Leather Trunk-Orig Fabric Lining+Tray w SOLID Leather~Went Paris to NY
ANTIQUE I just returned from a weekend antique shop fest. We saw one like this in every way but the color of that one was very faded. They were asking $850.00 and at auction we saw one sold with NO interior finish or tray. No hardware and a funky odor( LOL) sell for $445.00 Gorgeous leather steamer trunk. This has clean working brass latches. 2 original leather straps on the ends and 1 handle. Exterior wooden strapping and leather bumpers on the corners. Remarkable beautiful original fabric lined interior with a lift out tray and fabric tie downs. What we assume is the maker tag is mostly worn away. But we show it in case you can ID it from the scrap remaining. There are a couple other applied tags. We can see this traveled Paris to NY via Fast French Line Steamers. Some other words are on this label but we cannot make them out. This label ... moreappears on the trunk in 2 other places, discrete and aged. There is another label with Cie Gle Transatlantic on it. Nothing to pinpoint year or ownership. The ends of the trunk have a lovely ink tattoo with a 3” A and P on them, my guess is that was the owners initials. This is 22”x38”x13” plus a hair on each increment to allow for the 3D texture of the brass hardware. The bolts are not flush to the leather. They are raised and domed. Inside has a beautiful wine+ blue colored Iris floral pattern. Tray is about 4” deep and lifts out completely. NO ODOR! No fade. I do note a bit of wear and slight tear on the underside of this tray. Nothing at all ugly or something you see unless the tray is turned over( pic 10) Tray sides have a handle on each end and 2 strap tie downs. Exterior condition is amazingly clean and solid. Nothing broken. Gouged or stained. Certainly some travel signs, but they add to the charm and again there is nothing ugly looking what so ever. We see 2 very mild leather splits, but they are still very firmly in place. This weighs about 30# before packing. This is an authentic Louis Vuitton wardrobe trunk Hat Case. It is a family heirloom. 1920s-1930s, The trunk is wood with brown and gold LV monogram canvas and leather. The trunk is sold as-is, in used original condition with no later cleaning or restoration. The upright exterior measurements are 19.5" tall, 19.5” wide, and 9.5” deep. The exterior of the trunk has some marks and wear associated with its travel usage. Inside label with serial number reads: 796908. The brass is unpolished and the lock is intact, no key. The text on the front of the trunk reads M.H. as this belonged to Maud Hill. Antique Marshall Fields Steamer Trunk made by Oshkosh
A chance to own a great piece of history! Up for auction is a Marshall Fields and Company Chicago steamer trunk by Oshkosh. The last patent on the trunk is 1930. The initials L.S. are on the trunk. It aligns when put together and goes together but does lock/shut completely. Possibly some part of brass closure is missing. Does have a slight musty odor. It has all the drawers on the right side of the trunk and has a curtain with an iron on the left side of the trunk. I think something is missing from the bottom left of the trunk, possibly a shoe drawer? It has the Marshall Fields and Oshkosh tags on it. It is brown and there is wear on the outside as it has not been restored. There are some white marks also on outside. Wow! Cabin/ beach/ cottage/ loft/ apartment: Coffee table possibility! From the internet: In 1850. Jenny Lind, the Swedish Nightingale" came to America and had a two year concert tour. She had trunks which were made in London which were soon copied by trunk makers all over America, which we now refer to as Jenny Lind trunks. They were usually leather covered, with several iron or Brass bands around the trunk, fastened with large brass studs, and they curved in at the center.They are often called Bread loaf trunks. These trunks were often very decorative with brass locks, fancy tooled leather and elaborate interiors with paper lining and trimmings. Models made with brass banding are referred to as"brass bound" Jenny Linds. They were so popular that the style continued until the 1870s in many sizes and varieties, including doll ... moretrunks. Some also refer to these trunks as"stagecoach" trunks as they were also used for stagecoach travel. This is very unusual trunk looks like it was made in the 1800s. It was discovered in the attic of an 1836. NY farmhouse. We have no patents or dates to verify its actual age; however. Given the materials, the condition, and the style we are quite certain of this statement. It could be older. If you are an expert on trunks, and recognize this particular style, please let us know. He will be happy to incorporate any additional information in our listing. The stagecoach trunk has brass decorations on metal straps. It has some leather straps still remaining. One leather side handle is still present. We believe the original leather hinges were replaced at some time with the metal ones you see. Based on our examination of the area and discoloration around the hinges. One of the four is only half there. We do not have the key for the lock. Up for sale is a rare antique leather box made by Nathan Neat Co. out of Boston. MA. Box was made between the 1820's- 1840's. The exterior of the box is covered with dark brown leather secured by brass tacks. The interior is lined with its original printed wallpaper, with the original label on the inside of the lid. Also has original lock, but no key. Was in the same Northern Vermont family for many years. Measures approximately 14" in width, 6 1/2" in height, and 9" in depth. The leather is old, cracked and has some worn areas, but overall is in good condition for its age. Has original initials(W L) on the front. Box is missing the handle. A large wardrobe trunk made by Henry Likly of Rochester. N.Y. established 1844. Extremely solid. And equipped with casters and great oak slats. It is signed with a brass plaque outside and a paper label inside. It is ink stamped Patented December 12. 1911. This is complete. Fully functional, and in excellent vintage condition. It comes with the original key. This rare American trunk was beautifully made in the same style of the famous expensive ones. Antique Hand Painted German Pennsylvania Dutch Chest Trunk Dowry Wedding Blanket
Beautiful Antique German Pennsylvania Hand Painted Trunk Chest For sale is a beautiful antique hand painted chest or trunk. It is decorated on 4 sides with flowers. The painting appears to be on top of a gesso or tempera of sorts. The flower painting is very nice and in pretty good shape on the sides but worn on the top. The escutcheon is very unique. The trunk measures roughly 46.5 inches wide by 23.5 inches deep by 23.5 inches high. It shows a good deal of age because it is very old. I am not certain but would estimate late 18th to early 19th century. It is possible that it is older since the joints and hardware are similar to chests claiming to be early to mid 1700s. The hardware and lock are iron and the locking mechanism is very primitive in design. I do not have a key. The iron hinges could use a little straightening. There are square ... moreand round nails holding it together. Some of the nails for the hinges have been replaced with screws. The paint is cracked and peeling and missing and dirty. The interior of the trunk shows mostly red. The lid has a label and a picture of cupids. The label in in German but I don't think it has anything to do with the origin or maker of the trunk. There is a small lidded storage compartment on the left side. The ball feet appear to be correct. One toward the back shows deterioration. There are some random areas that show past termite activity or worm holes. I am not sure. The boards are solid. Though. This trunk was just removed from a Los Angeles storage unit and needs a very thorough cleaning. I am not an expert on such pieces and welcome any details people might be able to add.
