Its 17 inches tall. 14 1/2 inches across the front, 12 inches front to back, and as you can see it was carved from one very large trunk of a tree- although I do not know what kind of wood this is. There are many natural cracks in the wood from age, some of which were probably there when the head was carved I have, but none of the cracks are serious enough to cause it to fall apart of are at risk for further damage. This is a very rare Goyard carriage trunk. But will need restoration as you can see. The top measures 33 5/8" x 9 1/2" The bottom measures 13" front to back, and the ht. is 10 3/4" The skin is canvas and is bubbling in places and separated at corners. Fancy Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Straps, Key & 2 Trays
Gorgeous Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Straps. And Buckles, Working Lock& Key and 2 Original Interior Trays Here we have a very unique flat top steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. Out of about 1500 trunks that we have refinished. This is the first one that has triple straps running up the front and across the top. This one had originally come with three straps going up the front and across the top from the factory. Obviously we have replaced those three straps with Amish made leather straps, running them where the original straps once were. The center strap can be tucked under a piece of leather on the top if you don't want it to come down over the lock. We have made it that way so you can display your trunk with the lock showing instead of being covered by the third strap. We did want to include the third strap ... moresince it is the first trunk we have ever had with three straps. It just makes it more complete by putting the strap that covers the lock on this trunk. All of the black strap keepers or hold downs that you see on the front and top of the trunk are the original ones which we have painted black. This trunk is made up of poplar base wood with oak outer slat boards. We have finished the wood with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The wood has some typical older distress marks which include older nicks and dings along with some areas of discoloration to the wood on the slat boards. This one doesn't have hardly any stress cracks in the wood which is quite unusual since most trunks we refinish have stress cracks. Here are the trunk's dimension s: from left to right across the front is 32 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 23 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 20 1/2 inches. This one comes with the original signed working lock. It is signed, Corbin Cabinet Lock Co New Britain Conn U.S.A. We have matched up a key that does work in this lock. Antique Leather Trunk modified into Unique End Table
Let me start by stating that I am a complete beginner when it comes to antiques. Any information I have provided in this listing. Was given to me from the prior owner. The trunk is attached to a heavy metal base and is very secure and stable. The latch is very operational, it opens and closes securely, but there is no key. It is missing one of the side leather handles, and the removable shelve does have a hole in one of the corners but can be repaired. Other then that it is in remarkable condition for its age. It stands about two feet tall and is about 30 inches long. I have used it as a table at the end of my sofa, and it also looks great at the foot of a bed. It measures approximately 31" x 16" deep x 12" tall inches. Has Railway Form still attached to top from a soldier shipping the trunk home to Orlando from an Army base in Georgia. Dated 1945. Wonderful bit of nostalgia added. additional pictures available. Trunk is sturdy and well built with all rivets. Handles and metal straps secure on metal body. The trunk is missing the center lock mechanism though replacements are easy to come by. Two side clasp locks are in working order. Huge Early Antique Dovetailed Trunk/ Chest
WELCOME TO LIGHTHOUSE LIMITED! We are pleased to bring you this wonderful early brass banded dovetail trunk/ chest. It is equipped with a antique industrial chest lock. No key. All sides except for the bottom and one side. Was constructed from 1 solid piece of wood. There is a 3/4 inch wood trim surrounding the lid secured by a metal band and flat head screws. The top measures 46" X 28" The sides are dovetailed together and measure 44-1/2" X 27-1/2" The base is trimmed out in a molding style design and it measures 46-1/2" X 29-1/2" It stands 33-3/4 inches tall. It rests on very early casters which resemble railroad wheels. The interior was stripped of the shelving but could easily could be reconstructed if you choose. For other destinations. Please email for a shipping ... morequote. I call this a strap type trunk. Because leather straps would have encircled it in two places. The straps would have buckled at the opening. You can see the leather strap retainers that are still in place. If you want, you can have someone who works leather to make these belt-like straps for you. The top is studded. This is quite unusual in that I've never seen it before myself. It no doubt gave the top some protection from other trunks that would have been stacked on top. I think it is quite a good look. The hardware on the front. Specifically the latches are quite ornate and show that this trunk was made back toward the Victorian era when everything was onamental in design. I figure this trunk was made in the early part of the 20th century and spent a lot of time on railroads and maybe steam ships(the labels certainly bear out the railroad part) Notice the heavy use of studded rivets all along the corner protectors. This shows the quality of the trunk and like the studded top. Improves the overall look. The lock was made by Eagle Lock(see condition note below) I suspect from this that the trunk is American in origin(no makers mark was found on it) Underneath a

Antique Dread-Naught Steamer Wardrobe Trunk Luggage Chest Steampunk Storage
Here we have an incredible hunter green wardrobe trunk made by the Dread-Naught Luggage Company of Petersberg. Virginia around the 1930's. The interior has been completely recovered in a stunning ivory/ cream satin fabric. It has a locking mechanism for the drawers in addition to the exterior lock and the keys are included for both. The exterior has the wear and tear you would expect for its age and the leather handle is worn and torn as well, all of which add to its antique character. The top latch is off, but we have it; someone who is handy could probably easily re-attach it. The lower latch and lock keep it securely closed without it. Up for your consideration is a rare antique Hardy valise. Steamer trunk This is a super Rare antique STEAMER TRUNK. ALL ORIGINAL made by HARDY LEATHER CRAFTSMAN, European made. I have tried to research HARDY CRAFTSMAN and can't find much. Seems to have been a British Co that was know for super quality leather work. Not so much in trunks though. I had a couple Trunk" experts" tell me this is a trunk made in the same style as the famous LOUIS VUITTON trunks. And was probably from around the turn of the century( 1900) or early 1900's It has a pull down drawer that I have taken pics of. It includes 2 original wooded hangers. All of the trim is brass colored which does have scratches. The Brass tone Latch/ Lock is is in working order. I have no key. Condition: Overall very solid and great for display standing upright as we used ... moreit. Or setting down as the previous owner had it. The condition is good. The interior is very good. All snaps are present and work. There are no rips or tears. All pieces appear to be present. The exterior could use a good cleaning although the fact that it is not cleaned is what creates its absolutely wonderful patina. It is missing the handle but all buckles and latches are present and they work. It does retain its original makers tag. Few places there are some dings. And some of the fabric has minor discoloration as could be expected for its age, but overall still very good. Don't pass up on this one. It is a very Rare item. Antique Steamer Trunk Dome Top Embossed Metal Hardwood Slats
We recently purchased this attractive antique steamer trunk at an estate sale. It has a very slightly domed top and it's covered with embossed metal in a floral design. The trunk still has both of its original leather handles and they seem to be pretty sturdy. It measures approximately 30 1/2" long X 17" wide X 19" high at its highest point near the center. The tray for the inside of the trunk is missing. The hardwood slats on the trunk look to be in good condition and all of the metal and wood on the trunk is all held in place with brass plated tacks. The bottom of the trunk is covered with black metal and 3 hardwood slats that have done a great job of protecting the trunk over the past 100+ years. There are four(4) tiny metal wheels near each corner on the bottom which makes it easier to move around on any hard flat surface. ... moreThe key is missing for the old brass lock and we're not 100% positive that the lock is functional so it will arrive open. There are two(2) hinges on the back that hold the lid securely to the bottom and there are two metal clasps that keep it closed tightly in front, one of these is bent and does not close properly, it will need to be repaired. There is quite a bit of surface rust on all the metal on the outside of the trunk but there is no rust through and there are no holes visible. The inside is clean and dry and it retains its original paper lining. Most folks like to remove the old paper, sand down the interior and then either seal the wood or line the trunk with cedar, this eliminates any lingering musty odors and makes it a nice place to store blankets or seasonal clothing at the end of your bed. Trunks like this are becoming very difficult to find and eventually I'm sure they will be extremely rare. Their uses are many and will only be limited by your imagination. Medium Size Antique Steamer Trunk
This is a really intriguing medium sized trunk. I bought this at an auction with a couple of other trunks. After I got it home and inspected it a little closer. I realized that I nor anyone else had noticed something. The trunk is partially covered with sheets of copper on both the front and the sides. It has discolored to the point that I wasn't sure but with a little bit of ketchup, on a small spot, the bronze shine started to come through. The back of the panels(which are hard to see unless you look closely) are still very shiny. I don't do any restoration work but with a little elbow grease, this is a diamond in the rough! The trunk does have some flaws.both handles are gone as are the latches and the top part of the lock. the bottom of the lock remains. the top is bare cedar wood so I can only assume that the entire trunk is ... moremade of cedar as well. Antique 1860's Stage Coach Wagon rare trunk leather brass nails old chest
Selling this rarely found stagecoach travel trunk from circa 1860 that has been refinished. The leather of the top of the trunk had shrunk to the point where it could not be reattached to the sides so I covered it with a black buffalo hide that is thick and comfortable to sit on. I think the results are pretty good.There is a minimal color difference between the old and original leather. Every brass nail is original to this trunk. Because the original leather could not be reattached to the top. I built a wooden seat, added some padding and covered it with the new hide. It functions perfectly as a seat. The interior of the trunk has a small door. It is through this small door that users would store their laundry. There is some available space to store some small items. The leather on the bottom. The sides on the top and bottom, are original. ... moreThe dust covers on the sides are original, but the cover on the front is new, as is the lid lifter. There is a lock behind the lid lifter, but there is no key. The interior is lined with come cloth that is dirty in a couple of places. I added two stays to support the lid. Handels are original, not sure how much weight they can support. Over all the trunk's dimensions are 24 x 13 x 14 1/2. I attached a picture of what the trunk looked like before refinished it. very nice antique carriage travel trunk chest brass tacks 1827
Selling this old travel trunk/chest that I have refinished. The trunk is covered with old brass tacks. The top has a design that resembles a football along with the letters I.W. Prior to refurbishing the chest was covered in deerhide and the brass tacks shown. The interior had newspaper dated 1827. Prior to staining the wood had an almost white color to it. As a result. The Early American Minwax stain looks great on it. The trunk was treated with three coats of polyuerothane. The handles are original as is the lock. There is no key. I add the stays to the trunk. Antique Metal Bound STAGE COACH Trunk JENNY LIND Lock & LEATHER Lined REFINISHED
Beautiful Refinished 19th Century Stage Coach Trunk Solid Wood. Was covered on the outside w/ paper, but most of paper was gone paper was cleaned off. And trunk was sanded, and finished leather straps were added to the trunk. Original ones were gone I chose these straps. As the design on them was much like that of the original paper: The handle on the left side(when facing the front) is the original handle. Amazingly still very sturdy, the other is a replacement, matches very well The loop at the top above the lock is a replacement. Matches the handles The lock could presumably be made to work again. But doesn't at this time, I don't have the key either The lock is beautiful. It is a Jenny Lind style lock, very intricate and beautifully designed The inside is totally lined with leather. I chose this instead of paper or fabric since ... moreso many trunks from this century were covered with leather, I thought it would be awesome to have one lined with it instead, makes it unique and luxurious: The leather lining also has two very functional pockets on the back side. Inside, that are very useful for holding small items you might place in your trunk! measurements are 31in x 16in& 17.5 tall excellent condition!

Refinished Dome Top Victorian Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/Straps, Key, & Tray
Nice Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Straps& Buckles. Working Lock With Key, and Interior Tray Here is a real nice refinished dome top steamer trunk or travel trunk from the late 1800's. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 30 1/4 inches. From floor to top is approximately 21 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 16 1/2 inches. We have removed some of the metal from between the slat boards to expose the wood underneath. This lovely dome top appears to be made up of poplar base wood with ash or oak outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. Some of the boards are rough cut. lumber. These are boards that were used straight off the saw mill and still have the saw blade marks on them since they were not run through a planer. There ... moreare also some typical older character marks or distress marks on the wood which include older nicks and dings in various places along with some hairline stress cracks. Just about all of the trunks that we refinish have some form of distress marks including these that we have mentioned. This dome top comes with the original working lock. It appears that the key hole cover is missing, although we have still matched up a key that does activate this lock. The front latches are original and do work properly since the springs are still in good condition. The metal parts that make up this trunk are not brass and have therefore been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. The fancy slat board cap metal that drapes down over thr front from the dome top has patent dates on it. It is hard to clearly make out the date. We have shown a picture of one of these patent dates. It looks to read, Patd Mar 15(or 16) 80" referring to 1880. The side handles were gone and have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps.
