This trunk is from Ajax New York. It has a Yale lock which I don't have a key for. It needs to be refurbished. I really don't know the history of what vehicle in may belong to. The dimensions are: 30.25" x 19" x 12.75" The lid is detached(needs to be reattached) It appears as though it had a handle on the top. There is a slight split on the side. Ladycomet Refinished Flat Top Angle Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/Key&Tray
Beautiful Refinished Flat Top Wall Trunk With Working Lock& Key. Interior Compartment Area. And Interior Tray Here is a very unusual fancy refinished flat top steamer trunk from around 1900 or so. Here are the following measurements: from left to right across the front is 28 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 22 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 18 inches. It is unusual in which the top and back and front slat boards are angled at about 45 degrees. We have only had about four of these over the past thirteen years to refinish and that would be out of around 1500 trunks. We have removed some of the metal from between the slat boards to expose the wood underneath. This beautiful trunk appears to be made up of pine base wood with ash or oak outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane. There are some ... moretypical older distress marks on the wood. These character marks include older nicks and dings. Mostly concentrated on to the outer slat boards, and there are a couple of stress cracks. The majority of all trunks that we refinish have these type of markings. This great trunk comes with the original signed working lock. It is signed, Yale& Towne Mfg Co Stamford Conn U.S.A. We have matched up a key that does activate the lock mechanism. This trunk maker used a very nice amount of nice hardware on this trunk. A lot of it has embossed patterns to the metal. The front latches are original and they have a big number"3" at the top of them which we have highlighted in black paint. The metal parts making up this trunk are not brass, so we have hand painted the metal in black and gold leaf. The trunk maker also did a good job of running vertical and horizontal outer slat boards on this trunk, especially on the sides. It is not very often that you have two vertical slat boards and a horizontal slat board running on the sides of the trunk. Anyhow, it gives it a nice, unique appearance. The side handles have been replaced with sturdy Amish made black leather stitched straps.

I found one patent date on the hinges of December 1891 which makes this awesome old trunk as much as a 123 years old- a true antique. This trunk was structurally sound when the restoration started and the metal bottom is in good solid condition. Has had multiple coats of paint applied and has the three original bottom slats.The trunk has the three original hinges which are heavy duty, fancy, tight, work well and the lid closes well. For sale today is a restored is a stagecoach style curved top antique trunk. The restoration of this great old trunk turned out very very nice. The pictures do not do it justice. I did not find any patent dates on this trunk and based on 49 years experience restoring trunks I would date this trunk to the 1850's to 1860's which makes this awesome old stagecoach trunk as much as 160 years old- a true antique. This trunk was in good solid condition when the restoration started and the wood bottom is solid and has had several coats of clear applied. There are two original slats on the bottom. The trunk has the two original hinges which are HD. Tight, work well and the lid closes well. It has 4 pieces of original polished hardware. I did not find any patent dates on the trunk and based on 40 years experience restoring trunks I would date this trunk to the 1890's to early 1900's which makes this awesome old flat top a 100 to 120 years old- a true antique. Henry Likely trunks were very well made trunks and are highly collectable. The maker label is still on the trunk but it is not in very good condition. This trunk was structurally sound when the restoration started and the metal bottom is in good solid condition. Has been painted, has four original metal skids and has the three original bottom slats.Retains the three original hinges which are heavy duty, tight, work well and the lid closes easily. This is an early ca.1880 ladies stagecoach half trunk. Sometimes called a hat trunk. It is embossed leather-covered with hardwood slats with decorative brass buttons. The brass lock mechanism and key are original. The leather front straps and the end leather lifting handles have been replaced. The interior is complete with a lift out tray and a drop down bonnet box with lid and lovely victorian lithograghs. It is 20"x 16"x 19"tall and weighs 30 lbs. I acquired this flat top antique trunk at an auction. I have not tried to clean it as I do not want to ruin the integrity of the trunk. It is made of wood and covered with canvas with metal straps. The left leather handle is broken and the right one is intact. However they are extremely fragile so I would suggest that they not be used to pick up the trunk. There are pieces on the front with the buckle. There is a small hole in the top of the trunk. Please look closely at the pictures as they are part of the description. BIG Antique Trunk Restored Patented 1880/1881/1885 As much as 129 Years Old!
This trunk will ship by Greyhound bus to the lower 48 because of the size and weight and because it is too expensive to ship UPS or Fedex. For sale today is a very nicely restored large humpback trunk made by George Burroughs and Sons in Milwaukee. WI. I found patent dates of March 1880 on the hardware and June 1881 and July 1885 on the wheels.which makes this neat old humpback as much as 129 years old- a true antique. This trunk has a presence to it. This trunk was in good solid condition when the restoration started and the metal bottom is good. Has had multiple coats of clear applied and has the two original skids. The three original hinges are HD, tight, polished, work well and the lid closes well. The lid stay is original. There are 65 plus pieces of polished original hardware on the trunk. The center lock is original, has been polished ... moreand there is no key. The mechanical latches have been polished, are tight, fancy, HD and work well. The original tray is long gone and the interior has been removed. The metal/tin is smooth and in good condition. Th ere are twenty one solid oak slats on the trunk. Two new black leather handles were installed with the original hardware. This was a high end trunk when it was new. This is an original Civil War steamer trunk owned by Col. Henrie Crandall from Rhode Island. Makes a nice conversation piece. A piece of History of the Civil War. It does has wear and tear but it is solid. It is in its original condition. Please study the pictures. Col. Crandall was born November 30. 1829 at Voluntown, Ct. From 1860 to 1866 he was Assistant commissary General of the State of Rhode Island. For a period. Under Governor Smith's administration he served as Acting Adjutant general. At the outbreak of the Rebellion he went out as Sergeant in the First Battery. Col. Crandall was Aid on the Staff of both Governor Turner and Governor Smith. This was obviously made by someone to carry their tools. This antique carpenters tool box has a lid with a lock hasp. The lid was likely used to store saws. There are posts with rotating parts to hold something in place, and a long divided drawer is freed up inside when the lid is open. The drawer has two areas measuring 13.5" L x 2 1/8" W x 3 1/8" D. The chest is 6" T x 30"L x 18"D. Note that there is no longer a handle where there once was and slight damage to one of the corners.
