She paid $20,000 for the set and we are selling the other matching sofa and the two chairs in another listing)The frames are heavily carved wood, with gilded floral motifs and other period-style elements, including some areas that look very Art Nouveau. Well-maintained antique condition, the frames are solid- there are some joints that show small lines of seperation, but nothing that affects the stability or useability of the piece. The cream paint and gilded areas are very good, there is some flaking to the gilding, and the front of the arms that would have received the most wear have seen some over-painting. Please note these are larger pieces than your normal sofa or setee from that era. 1940's 1950's ORIGINAL MID CENTURY MODERN Sectional SOFA Couch Antique Vintage
This is a 1950's or late 1940's modern design. Split sofa in original condition. The photos tell the story, it's 8 feet 8 inches long. One of the sections is faded from sunlight. There is some light wear due to age, and on one of the cushions the fabric is splitting, but overall it's very good. The foam and all the fabric is original to this piece and over 60+ years old. This was the pride and joy of it's owner when moving to the suburbs in the late 1940's(mid century modern home) and was still sitting in the original living room. LOCAL pick up only.please email with any questions or offers. I will be available to show it. It would be a great"new" piece if re-upholstered, but could probably be used as-is.

Offered here are three fantastic antique furniture pieces from my eclectic antiquities collection. It has been an honor to have them but is now time for someone else to take care of them. These pieces are circa 1914 original furnishings from the Davenport Hotel in Spokane Washington. Claimed to be one of the worlds grand hotels. This furniture suite certainly backs up the that claim. When the hotel closed a several years ago some items were sold, the lady who bought these pieces had them very nicely restored. I acquired them when she left the country. I use them in my office to impress important clients. The quality of these pieces suits the finest of homes. Far nicer than modern furniture. The wood is finely carved mahogany. The fabric is a velvety solid blue grey color with alternating patterns giving an appropriate classic striped look. ... moreThe bottoms are covered in a black fabric. There are no tears. This is a beautiful Rosewood Regency period brass inlaid pedestal sofa/library table with a large drawer. Including original lockset and key! Purchased in London ~1952. It’s been in the family ever since with it’s unrestored. Original finishes and patina. Dimensions: 56" wide with leaves open(up) 36" wide with leaves closed(down) 29¾" deep 27¼" high Drawer: ~18½” wide x 22¾“ long x 2¼” interior drawer depth) Top and Drop Leaves- Fabricated with beautiful. Aged Rosewood the top and leaves are decorated with two lines of brass string inlay which includes four“8-pointed star” motifs in each corner of the two leaves and four scrolled inlays centered on each side of the top. The leaves are supported in the open position by lyre-shaped brackets(fly-backs? which have brass-inlaid 4-leaf motifs on the ... moreends. Brass string inlays are loose/bulging at various points. Although no brass appears to be missing. Table top/leaf edges are trimmed with rosewood with at least 2 small pieces missing. Top piece has some checking in the wood; the finish varies in glossiness in several spots; nicks; spots; and scratches. All typical for the age of an unrestored piece like this. Front. Back, Drawer, and Lockset– There is one large brass inlaid dove-tailed drawer complete with its’ original lockset and key. This drawer is nearly the full depth of the table and there is a“dummy drawer” face at the back(including a dummy brass inlaid keyhole) The front apron has two decorative raised panels to either side of the drawer with lavishly inlaid scroll-work. The back is the same design as the front. The underside of the drawer has a scribed line in the center of the wood( The l ockset works. But not smoothly. The key will raise the 2 lock pins. But will not retract the pins all the way down. Pedestal. Base, and Legs– The table stands stable on a rosewood-wrapped round pedestal and base with four sabre-shaped legs ending in the original“hairy-claw-foot” brass casters. Superb Victorian Antique Small Walnut framed Sofa. Professionally Upholstered A simply stunning original piece of Victorian furniture. A charmingly proportioned sofa or chaise which has been expensively and professionally reupholstered with traditional materials through out. Excellent quality yellow damask material covering. Traditional webbing, springing and real horse hair stuffing. The backrest also being deeply button backed and filled with horse hair. Frame and legs are I think of walnut and finished with the original cast brass and porcelain casters. There is old traces of worm on one of the back legs but this is minor and obviously has long been treated. There are a couple of tiny marks on the fabric which can be easily cleaned. I have tried to picture them but they are faint and small. It is from a smoke, pet and possibly most damaging, ... morechild free home. All joints are tight and secure and it is ready to give the new owner and their children's, children many more years of service. One of a couple of pieces of furniture that I don't want to let go but my little house just doesn't have the space. It would love to live in more opulent surroundings. Measures approx 135 long. 65cm high, 77cm deep and the actual seating is 54cm front to back. Antique Sofa - Beautiful Carving
This is an antique sofa. Probably Victorian which was purchased from an antique dealer in New Orleans to my knowledge. It was purchased by a relative who passed it along to another relative who had it in her living room for around 60 or so years. It is a beautiful piece. I don't know if the upholstery is original or if it was reupholstered at one time. It has had this upholstery for at least 60 years. Note the ornate wood carving, there is one small area where there is a small piece which has broken off- you can see it in one of the photos. The fabric is in good condition considering it's age, however I'm sure has faded. There are a few places where the threads have pulled apart on the seat- also seen in one of the photos. I do not know if it is American or foreign made. In removing the current fabric, which screams of a 1970s reupholstery job, I found the seat was raised on plywood blocks to add lift to achieve a modern height. Springs in seat and back do not seem to fit the age as to be original. Antique ghost sofa (secret storage chest)
This is definitely a one of a kind sofa. You would never know by looking at it that it has a secret hidden cedar chest built into it. You could hide your guns. Money, important papers etc. in plain sight. This is a very old sofa and it is really heavy. It has awesome claw feet and ornate carvings in dark wood. It's covered in a bizarre lime green material with a great funky look to it. There are no rips or tears in it. This is a beautiful and rare set of vintage mohair furniture. I am not sure of the exact year that they were made but the latest patent date found on the tags of these pieces is 1929. They are comfortable to sit in and are a color that goes well with nearly anything. There is some noticeable wear as one would expect from furniture of this age(some fading in common areas like arm rests. A hole in the back of the chair, a small hole on the top of the sofa) but the steel springs are still good and do not sag. All the mohair and brocade is original and make these beautiful pieces that are getting harder and harder to find. The common areas of wear such as the arm rests could be easily covered with antimacassars if you dont not want to restore these pieces. This is a really old set of sofa and chair furniture. The old man that owned them said they belonged to his grandparents. They are probably late 1800s. The wood on the chair matches the sofa. But the upholstery is a different shade. The upholstery on both pieces needs cleaned. Both of these pieces are heavy, it almost takes three men to lift the couch. Spectacular& rare customized antique side table Check out the stunning gorgeous walnut flame/burl grains on the top.incredible beauty which was hidden under a failed opaque finish I restored this table using my own special black distressed hand rubbed finish.The entire finish was hand restored including hand scraping& sanding the top. By design. I left nicks, dings, veneer chips, and character marks in the wood prior to restoration. You can see the beautiful chestnut colors show through the hand rub distressed black finish. I sealed the black with hand rubbed varnish as a glaze to provide a special depth and beauty. The table dates from Circa 1920.the Kiel company operated their second plant in Milwaukee. The entire leg/stretcher rail assembly was carefully taken apart and restored by gluing/clamping and screwing everything in place making it non-removable, the table is now rock solid, it was very wiggly-jiggly prior to restoration. There was no need for the sides/legs to be removable, so I chose to make it much more solid I love the original trim around the edges of the top. It has great details The top is made from a 4 way book-matched(4 pieces of veneer book-matched together)walnut burl veneer.I meticulously hand rubbed 10 coats of varnish to achieve the incredible luster and depth which showcases the walnut wood.there are small natural cracks& a few tiny dings in the center of the top burled area.all character is consistent with its age. That is what makes it a beautiful antique The medallions on the ends. Sides& legs are made from Bakelite(original resin) or Bakelite type material. The medallions have some cracks and a few medallions have cracks& small pieces missing. Antique Victorian Empire Walnut Civil War Sofa Couch
This sofa/ couch was made in the Civil War era. 1820-1860) It is 82" long and 39" high to the center at the back. This sofa is ornate with hand carved walnut wood about 2" thick in dark brown color of the grape and leaf patterns. The cushion is about 4" at highest point. 58" long without arm, and 20" deep. It is an original tanned upholstery with the small mauve flower pattern. It is decorated with some fabric buttons on the cushion. The cushion is very firm. There are 3 light water stains on the cushion sitting area as shown in the pictures. There is a small worn area on the fabric of the left arm. No major damage on the cushion. The cushion is 5" high from the floor. It has the brass rivets stitched along the cushion all the way around the front. The arm is 24 1/2" high from the floor. The stitching at the back along the left arm has come detached about 2" The legs are very stunning with the hand carvings on wood about 2 3/4" thick. The end of the legs have brass wheels about 1" diameter. There is a tear at the back on right foot area of the upholstery about 2" But it is not noticeable. The back felt cover is purple/ blue. It is faded. There are rusty nails holding back cover. That is partially torn off. The bottom of the couch covered with the fabric. It is old, has no tears. All the tears mentioned can be fixed. An absolutely marvelous example of craftsmanship. The crest rail is exquisitely carved from a thick solid plank of mahogany; two nearly identical panels capture oak leaves tied together with flowing ribbon flank the larger central panel of opposing cornucopia overflowing with sheaves of wheat and fruits. These magnificent landscapes are of exceptional quality, each tiny detail carefully and painstakingly brought to life under the artists knife. The crest rail has a soft backward curvature, completing ... morethe cyma form of the back that so harmoniously mirrors the curve of the arms and sharper bow of the legs. All edges are molded with delicate reeding, giving a distinct angularity to the curvy Greco-Roman inspired form. The tip of each arm is capped with deep floral rosettes carved of the solid, these flowing up from the panels over both legs, each depicting drapery hanging from floral rosettes with a large tassel focal point.
