One of the first things that you notice are the large flanges on each end. Unlike most flanges. These are deeply cut out with an almost scroll like pattern. The bottom front edge of the top has a simple design. The two end drawers have nice carved details the other 3 have flush fronts. The contrasting color of the beaded detail around the drawers has a bamboo look. Below the drawers is a carved apron. Also with the bottom edge in contrasting color. The apron transitions into the gracefully shaped curved legs and feet. There is a single humpback stretcher on each end between the legs. This example features metal rod truss bracing on sculptural wood bases and a fiberglass joint down the lower center part of the back of the chair. This is one of my favorite Plycraft designs- low. Sculptural, and unusual. MARKED with a foil label: manufactured by Plycraft LAWRENCE. MASS designed by GEORGE MULHAUSER. CONDITION: Reupholstering is recommended as the vinyl has cracked from age. But the foam inside is still soft and can still be used. Two buttons are missing from the ottoman. The wood is in overall excellent condition.
