For sale is a grandma's primitive antique pie or bread safe with the original removable shelves. It is galvanized steel and has been painted white and is quite chipped(see pictures) The door has a clip closure and both the closure and the hinges work well. There is a set of round air holes on both the front and back. The size is 20" tall by 13.5" wide and 11.5" deep. I believe this was made by the Home Comfort Company. This is a great old piece that was in the house we recently bought. I put this in my garage and now here it is. I haven't ever cleaned this. I don't want to ruin any value. Not sure what kind of wood this. not pine) Its heavy. A very solid piece. Maybe a maple. Has round nails. A few white paint marks. Item measures approx. 20 inches tall. 13 1/2 inches wide, and 11 1/4 inches deep, with a swing door that measures 15 1/2 x 10 3/4 inches. Pie safe is in good condition, dent on upper left front side and holes on back panel and one hole on top plate. Pie safe is also missing one shelf and heavy staining on bottom side(outside only) I haven't cleaned or repaired this item in any way and selling as found and with original patina. Door opens and locks. Item appears was painted many years ago with green paint which now is very fragile and some areas missing from wear. The tin inserts are the original pieces. The doors are whole and sturdy. They can be reused as wall art. If they are the right size for you. He informed me that the base is not original, the mesh on the front has been replaced(frame inside and out where the mesh is, is not original) He also stated that the"paint" is probably milk with some sort of dye, like mustard seed or dandelions. Not sure of the type of wood.probably oak. He also believed ... morethis dated around 1850, due to not having the tin/copper punch front and the nails used. There are some newer nails on the top, where the piece is missing. It looks as if someone used these to refasten the missing piece. The woman from whom I purchased this, could not find the missing piece. Structurally, the piece is decent with some gaps in the wood as seen in the pics. Lots of character, like the mice holes on the front and on the back at the base. It stands almost 4' high, 30" wide and 16.75" deep. The hinges on the door are loose and will need to be tightened. I like to describe what I see"wrong" with items, this way there is no surprises when your purchase arrives. This is a very nice antique piece. Antique Punched Tin Pie Safe Tins Folk Art Fish Pattern
These are rare fish pattern pie safe tins punched in a fish pattern. The fish pattern has been found in the Great Lakes Region and on a very rare occasion New England. The tins date to the early to mid 1800's. There are 12 tins that have what appears to be two layers of paint. Yellow and green. Most show minor signs of age but two have rust through areas, see photos. These recovered tins could be used in another pie safe or in kitchen cupboard doors. Antique Pie Safe 1840s (Unique-Read Description)
Well. I said I'd never part with this but truth is, times are hard. This was given to me by an old couple that I used to do chores for in the mid eighties when I was a kid. At that time, they were still using it as well as a wood burning cast iron stove. There was electricity in the house but no running water. Mr. Bennett passed away and Mrs Bennett went to live in a nursing home. They had no children and left me pretty much everything. This has been in storage awhile and now its in my home. I had an antique guy here in town look at this and he said it could sell as $5k to the right buyer because there isnt many of these left. See the hinges on the side? pic) well the entire top lifts off(pic) and it FOLDS FLAT so it could be put on a wagon and moved during the old days. While I thought it was early 1900s.he assured me it was 1840s. Now.flaws.the ... morescreen on the doors is NOT original to the pie safe. Also the shelves are NOT original as they appear to be plywood. I took the back out(but have the wood stored) as it was getting very brittle and I was afraid I would damage it. I recommend NOT shipping this item HOWEVER if you arrange for thefreight and provide me a crate, I would be more than happy to crate it for shipping and help put it on a truck for you. Otherwise, I would advise you pick it up here. I am on the edge of the great Okefenokee Swamp. There are still homes down here that use old wood stoves and pie cupbards in their homes. Toledo Conservo Canning COOK OVEN SMOKER PIE SAFE ANTIQUE
This is a canning cooker by Swartzburg Co. Conservo. And it dates from the 20's or 30's. This is the cheapest one on eBay and these regularly sell for 150-200 but Im willing to price low and sell cheap. It measures about 21" tall by 12" by 12" and is made of galvanized tin with a copper bottom. It has two wire shelves and two doors. It weighs about 8 Lbs. This one is in good condition as both doors work well. The dome top is in good condition and the original vent pipe coming out of the top. a The copper bottom is in very good shape and could be polished to high shine if so inclined and you can see that this oven was used by the black on the bottom. It could be used on a burner or wood fire. It has two wooden handles at the top in good shape for easy moving. It has chipping paint. Antique Tin Lithograph Bread Box, Pie Safe or Cake Box with Amazing Scenes
For Sale is an absolutely beautiful antique bread box. Pie safe or cake box. I am not sure exactly which this is. There are airholes on the right, left, front and bottom of this box. I believe this is made out if tin. The metal is very thin and looks to be tin lithographed. The cover is much thicker and the inside has a nice brass or coppery look to it. This contains five different pictures on the cover and each side. Each picture has a caption on the bottom. There are some dents and scratches, but that is to be expected as I date this to the late 1800's to the very early 1900's. I discovered this in an estate clean out and it had been tucked away for approx. a good 60+ years. All of the metal isfolded over to seal and there are no nails used at all on this beautiful piece. The clasp is held on by beiing twisted over the cover on ... morea hinge. The cover features a group of people and the caption underneath reads"The Watch Designer" The words are worn so it is very hard to read but that is what I believe it to say. The center of the group is a man showing another a watch on his wrist. The next pic shows the front of the box. It is a jolly looking group of soldiers with their swords and weapons in hand. Some have fur lined cloaks and some are holding flags. The caption under this picture reads"The Civic Guard" The picture on the right side of the box is a guard facing the front. Unfortunately a scratch goes through his face. But he seems to be smiling as the caption would prove as it reads"The Smiling Cavalier" On the left side is another happy gent. He is facing completely forward and is wearing a black hat and tan coat. His hand is up as though it is greeting someone and the caption under this picture reads"The Jolly Toper" Again, this caption is hard to read as it has some wear to the lettering. For sale is an American primitive Shoe Fly Pie Safe. Dimensions are 49.5" wide. By 17.25 deep, by 31" tall. I bought this in North Carolina from an antique store in 2006. It's been sanded and cleaned up, I added puck lights and painted the entire cabinet inside and out. The finish is black distressed with a blue/grey trim line detail. The inside finish is an antique white that has been glazed for an antiqued feel. It's ready to wall hang or stand on the floor. Screens are original and varnished with a clear coat. This is a Fantastic Primitive Antique Vintage Pine Wood Pie Safe/Jelly-Blanket-Storage Cabinet that was painted Avocado Green and has the distressed look. I purchased this from an Estate Sale where I was able to speak to the original owners grandson. He. At the age of 67 now, told me he remembers this being in his grandparents house for as long as he can remember back. He told me his mother painted the cupboard back in the 1960's for his grandmother the Avocado Green color it is now on the outside and a canary yellow on the inside. It has its original double doors with key turn, however no key with it, and original double pull out bottom drawers. The shelves on the inside have been replaced and are not the originals. There was one and I put that on the bottom shelf because the wood is split. I believe finding some older barn wood for ... morereplacement shelves would be great. I am sure the new owner would have some great replacement ideas. On the back there is one board that is split part way. Please see picture. Also on the back is stamped in black DeWitt-Seitz Co. Duluth, Minn. It measures 80"s tall. 41"s at its widest point which is the top trim. 39& 1/4"s wide in the center across the doors. Drawers are 6"s tall and 17"s long. Doors themselves are 59"s tall and approx. 17& 1/2"s wide. The sides are 16"s wide. If you would like any other measurements or pictures, please do not hesitate to let me know. I bought this from an elderly gentlemen in central Ohio who said that he"hated to think how old that thing was. My Dad made it over 60 yrs ago. Not real sure what that meant but it was his Dad's handy work. Very nice& sturdy piece but not terribly too heavy. Space for 5 pies. If it doesn't sell quickly. RARE Antique Primitive Shabby Distressed worn Green Wood Metal pierced Countertop or wall mount Country Farm Pie-Safe. Good condition for age. Chipped shabby worn Distressed paint. Missing two drawer handles. Really neat feature about this piece is it is all constructed of tongue and groove, sides, top and bottom and drawers. Hard to see side tongue and groove in pictures. Please use Ebay's picture zoom on side top of the piesafe and the tongue and groove can be seen. Metal pierced plate is rusted as most are and has some dents creases ect. Not bad at all. This Beautiful piece will make a great addition to any farm house country store setting. Measures approx. 29" tall x 23 3/8" wide x 16 1/2" deep. Rare and hard odd size to find. No holes for wall mount but could easily be drilled in back board, very strong cabinet. Hinges ... moredo have little play in them but door opens and closes good. Drawers open and close good but will need some drawer pulls. Sold as is as found with no warranty's. Note: This is a large item and can be shipped by UPS ground. Will put two layers of thick cardboard around the piesafe with cardboard corner guards. Any larger this item may have to be freight shipped.
