Exquisite Rare Antique Japanese Marquetry Scholars Desk/Tansu Cabinet. C.1890 Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Exquisite Antique Japanese Marquetry Scholars Desk/Tansu Cabinet. C.1890 This is an utterly stunning piece of antique Meiji period Japanese furniture– it is a scholars tansu cabinet. Which comes in three pieces. There are two matching tansu cabinets, used for storing paper, ink, and other sundries, and a top that fits over both cabinets. This top can be taken off to slot in place between the cabinets, forming a small desk for use while travelling. It is entirely covered in marquetry work of the most amazing quality and design. There are a large number of exotic woods used in the marquetry– Katsura. Persimmon, and Cedar for example- which is continued on the inside of the cabinets on the drawer fronts; there are also ornate brass ... moremetal work hinges, clasps and handles. Although antique Japanese Tansus can be found for sale. These desks are very rare and of great interest to collectors(I have only seen 2 or 3 before) The marquetry work of this one places it in a different league to most; see here for a similar marquetry cabinet(not a desk) priced at $5,000 and clearly by the same workshop) It is a rare. Beautiful, and valuable example of antique Japanese furniture, offered here at an extremely low price(my Ebay shop philosophy is to sell within days or weeks at a very low price. Rather than wait months or years for a higher amount) Size The separate cabinets measure 6.25” wide. 8.5” deep, and 10” high, while the desk measures 25” by 10” by 8.5” deep. C ondition It is in very good condition; It has a few antique replacement handles. The chair seat swivels and the chair rolls around on casters. 16" wide x 19" deep x 35-1/2" high overall with a 19" seat height as you see it in the pictures. Looking underneath I can see that you can lower it down about 1-1/2" and you have about 6" total screw extending down below the spinning disk. You should be able to raise it 2 or 3 inches anyway. Seat height would then range between about 17-1/2 and maybe 22" You merely turn the disk to change the seat height. I lowered the seat to the minimum for shipment. The seat back has a black material tacked into place on the sides. I think it's old leather. But for all I know, it could be something else. Please look at the pictures and judge for yourself. Beautiful. I found a few issues which I think are not very noticable. There was a crack in the top of the upright back support timber that I had to glue(the crack extending below the slot was not glued) One nut securing that support was replaced with a more modern one at some point, there is a split in the wood surface on the back of the

Old desk set. Made from horn, with a wood base. Horn pieces include pen rests, pen holder, and a pipe holder. Round opening in wood base has a glass ink well for a dip pen. Glass inkwell has a plastic screw top with brass dip opening. This piece is in excellent condition. The style, the quality of workmanship, the materials, are clearly of the highest quality. Please see picture number 6 for a close up of the underlying wood grain, which appears to be mahogany(though walnut is not an impossibility) The framed glass top. Reveals 2 separators with gilded scrolling, providing areas for 3 locked drawers. The locks are brand new and not original. This is unquestionably a very hard wood, and given the reputation and standards of Maison Jansen, this is almost certainly mahogany. The desk is 30.25" wide, 37" high, and 14.5" deep(from drawer) When opened, the writing surface is 27.5" from the floor. It features original brass hardware, a single pull-out drawer beneath the desk, and six compartments inside to store letter, bills, etc. I estimate the age of this piece to be approximately 110 years. It is in good to very good condition as indicated in the Condition description. There are some light scratches and cup marks as pictured. Gorgeous antique 1917 CHELSEA Clock. FULLY WORKING& 100% ORIGINAL. This is a RED Brass(copperized) classic"Clinton" model on four ball feet. All complete, original& scratch-free beveled crystal, perfect silver face with black hands, arabic numerals& sub-seconds with inner track- all in perfect condition. It's an easy wind, easy set 8 day Chelsea movement, keeping time for all 8 days, The screw-on back is perfect. The clock sits firmly with an angled face for easy reading& is signed both CHELSEA& C.D.Peacock. Chicago( C.D.Peacock is& has been the TIFFANY of the Midwest. Est'd in 1837, the oldest gild jeweler in the Midwest, even survived the great Chicago fire& is presently a dealer in Cartier, Patek Philippe, etc. with a customer list that ranged from Mary Todd Lincoln to Mick Jagger) there's ... morea gorgeous& sublte engraving on the back of the screw-on door(JAH) again. Leather is in very good condition with no splits. Cracking or tears. I doubt the leather is original to the chair, but it is not"new" either. Vintage 1950's Atlas microphone desk stand old antique 763 model midcentury
Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at an older Atlas desk stand from the 1950's/ 60's era give or take a few years. The original Atlas sticker is missing and based on the type of paint scheme. Base stamp and design would suggest a late 1950's model as does the cast iron base stamped with a simply 1. This stand is in excellent condition considering it's use and age. The original paint is in very nice condition as seen in pics provided. Total length is 12 inches high x 6 inches wide. The 3 pads are in great condition. Perfect for displaying any vintage microphone. The chrome stem(upper and lower) is completely free of rust. And pitting. Priced to sell. This is a Rare ANTIQUE and attractive Seth Thomas 8 DAY CHIME BRASS AND CRYSTAL REGULATOR M antel Clock. C.1900's. This clock measures approximately 9 3/4"tall x 6 1/2" wide x 5 1/4" deep. This has a Brass and Glass case with B eveled glass to all sides. It has a Round Brass Seth Thomas 48S Mechanical Time and Strike. Movement with Cathedral Coil Spring Gong Chime which Chimes only one time every half hour and the correct amount of times for every hour. The Dial is a Porcelain the enamel in very good condition. This is a Key winding clock. All crystal panels are perfect. Original and secure. The clock is good working condition! This clock movement mechanically is good condition and what needs.
