A 19th century cherry corner cupboard with glass pane doors. The measurements are approximately 85.5" tall and 49.5" wide across the front. You should plan on it taking up about 32.5" of wall space from the corner out along the wall on each side. This corner cupboard is a ONE piece construction(it does not break down into two pieces) There are grooves near the back of each shelf in which to set items for display such as plates/platters/chargers. There is some damage to one pane of glass- it is the lowest pane on the right door(see photo) This is an antique piece of furniture. So there are some nicks, dings, repairs, and imperfections which are noticeable upon close inspection. We believe it may be a Kentucky piece and we believe the surface to have been refinished at some point. Also, the original locking mechanisms on both ... moresets of doors appear to have been removed and replaced. The top corners of the molding on the front appear to have been damaged/repaired. That said, the construction is quite solid and there is no major damage which has affected the integrity of this piece. I have had this little storage cupboard since 1975. It has been in the basement of my old farm house since I moved in, not telling how long before that and it has been there since. I did put my laundry soaps and cleaners on the top, never really did anything else with it or to it. Nice old primitive cupboard, wood and most likely hand pieced w/ found lumber and wood pieces. Measures 22 5/8 inches tall, across the front is 17 1/2 inches. 10 inch depth measuring on the inside. Opening at door is 11 inches wide. 3 shelves. Metal clamp type closure. I believe the handle is plastic. Mitered corners on the front. Old peeling worn off decal. Many old coats of paint, top is paint chipped, dirty from age and soap bottle ringed. Warped door bottom from basement dampness, I think this could be made flat again. It is a 21 drawer apothecary cabinet with it's original porcelain knobs! The knobs graduate in size from 3/4" to 1 1/4" for the larger knobs. This is a completely original cabinet! There are some old paint splashes and nicks. Slight wood pieces missing, edge wear, some stains or markings inside the drawers and there's some dings in the wood on the side. These are tell tale signs of the age of this beautiful cabinet. In the upper right corner, on the side, there's a piece of wood missing. It's hard to see but look closely. As noted. On the outside of this cabinet is red paint with white porcelain knobs. The top drawer measures 18" wide x 9 1/2" deep x 2 3/4" high. Also in the top cabinet you can see there is an old lock inside the drawer and then outside you can see where the key would have gone- it has been painted over. We do not have the key. The three bottom drawers measure 9 1/2" deep x 16 3/4" wide x 1 1/2" high. Total cabinet measures 19 3/4" wide x 11" deep(not counting the knobs) x 12 1/4" high. It weighs 14 lbs. On the front of the bottom drawer there are two holes- they do go through to the other side. I'm not sure what this was for- most likely ... morea name plate of some sort or maybe an old handle. In all three of the drawers inside- in the back of the drawer there are holes that go all the way through. The hole is also inside the top drawer under the lid. This was likely to lock the drawers. The person would have a rod(not included) that would slide down from the top and lock each drawer in place. Then. By locking the lid with the key(not included) the entire cabinet could be locked up safe! It may have been for a shop owner or perhaps for someone who kept valuables in their home and didn't want any sticky fingers walking off with their goods! Once the cabinet was all locked up, it was easy to carry without losing the drawers by grabbing ahold of the nice brass handles on each side. This is a great size cabinet that could be used for many things! There are some paint spills on a couple of places. Chips, scratches, and holes but it does not take away from the beauty of this cabinet. Great for many uses! The red paint appears to be old but don't think it is original to the piece. Great piece! LARGE VERY ORNATE ANTIQUE JELLY CUPBOARD WALNUT BACK SPLASH
Here is a beautiful antique back splash that came off a jelly cupboard. The jelly cupboard set on a dirt floor in a farm basement for many years and was beyond repair but this back splash is nice other than some normal wear, its end point on its left side has a small piece off its tip and a small piece of molding missing from its right side below the ginger bread plus notice the ginger bread there also has a few cracks but all is nice and tight and I added close ups of those. This measures long across its base 45 inches then from its base to its top is 14 3/8 inches and it has beautiful patina. A grand. Large and old primitive kitchen corner cabinet. Made from pine, with some decorative(burl? wood insets. My guess is that it dates to about 1860 to 1870. Hard to tell too much about it since it has been painted, rather recently, in white latex. I have started to peel this off, which is why it looks so weird in the photos! It is heavy, and solid. There are 3 sections: a bottom section, with solid doors, a middle section with glass doors, and a top section, also with glass doors. There is also a deep drawer at the bottom. At the moment it is in the back of my garage. And I cannot get close to it to take better pics, but I will haul it out soon and post more pics. Measures 99 1/4" wide. 22 1/4" deep, and 89 1/2" tall. Comes in 3 pieces, the top hutch, cabinet and drawer section, and a base that it all sits on. This piece was acquired from a high end antique shop in Birmingham that was going through a bank ordered liquidation; they had it priced in their shop at $16,000.00; I got a great deal on a piece of this magnitude and I am passing that deal on to the customer.
