A moulded cornice crowns the top while a recessed panel door with trim really shows of the attractive qualities of yew wood. This auction is for a fantastic antique oak child's stepback cupboard. The cabinet dates to the late 1800's-early 1900's. The cabinet is 28 3/4" tall. It is 5 1/2" deep on the outside of the top section. 9" deep at the stepback work surface, and 8 1/2" deep on the outside at the bottom. The cabinet is 15" wide. Opening the top 2 doors reveals 2 securely set wooden shelves. There is a drawer with wooden knobs below the work surface. Opening the bottom doors reveals a shelf. The top of the cabinet has a cornice board top. The bottom edge of the front, and the bottom of the sides have swoopy detail. The knobs on the doors turn to rotate a piece of wood that holds the doors closed. The sides are 1 board. The cabinet is old finish. There is a little bit of wear in the finish. This hand made primitive antique step-back cupboard/hutch has it's original paint. The exterior is light blue with natural multicolored crackling. The interior of the top of the hutch is painted yellow. The insides of the top doors are painted green. It has it's original antique hardware. The work surface and back splash are covered with a type of linoleum which was used for counter tops in the early 1900's; this is green with a swirl pattern. There is a metal edge around the counter top. There are two full sized pull-out cutting boards above the drawers. This is not a reproduction. I have a set of three very old ice box hinges in good functional condition. Pins are tight for reuse. These are textured cast brass with nickel plating that is quite distressed. Would clean up some although do not know to what extent. The undersides nickel plate condition closer to original. Marked as a 9/16 inch offset. In other words. Door reveal extended 9/16 of an inch from cabinet or box jamb face. Many other possible repurpose uses in cabinet or furniture renovations or repairs. These measure slightly under 4 x 2 inches. VERY FINE AMERICAN PAINTED CUPBOARD OVER TURNED BOTTLE FEET Pennsylvania. C. 1820-40 Item# 1409APP01Q A truly marvelous work preserved in simply outstanding condition. This exceptional American cupboard retains an early blue over earlier layers of paint. The surface is vibrant and incredibly striking. Showcasing this rather unusual and possibly unique cupboard in a most appealing manner. The feet are some of the most interesting feet found on pieces of this period, turned with utmost precision and with vivid imagination. Beneath a series of rings, the foot swells in a long vasiform baluster over a single ring and a squat turned foot. Each is unique with slight variation due to being turned with only the eye as a guide. The door frame is made up of pinned tenon-mortise joints. The central slat unpinned, the two panels chamfered along all edges ... moreand set in grooves within the frame. Due to shrinking and loosening of the joints, the door shifts somewhat freely and must be"lifted" to close- this is a very easily restored issue, but we prefer leaving it untouched since it is a relatively minor workaround. The original hinges easily hold the weight of the door, this opening with a single round knob and it's lock on the opposite side. The interior is a series of graduated shelves, the second shelf long since removed. The backboards are nailed in neat little rows, the scratch mark outlining where to nail still visible across the breadth of the planks. The case is joined with dovetail construction along the sides, the complex and very highly developed crown molding wrapping around these and projecting significantly, giving the cupboard great presence. The feet are a rare and wonderful part of the design that. Coupled with the very fine crown molding work, make this an exceptional cupboard of the period. Measurements: 35 1/2" W x 21 1/2" D x 70 3/4" H Condition Report: Surface is early but not original- traces of red pigment in some areas. Traces of a dark black or brown undercoat in some areas.

I have a pair of what appear to be very old ice box latch handles for your consideration. There is a left and a right and have a off set of approx 1/4 of an inch. Solid cast brass with nickel plate manufacture. Early manufacturer markings on back of handles. Lots of opportunities for repurpose with cabinets. Chests, boxes and other furniture to bring some real character to the piece. Handles pivot nicely with some wear to the hinge pin. You will have to find or fabricate some sort of catch or strike depending on your application. Some old paint and grime that should clean up some. EARLY ANTIQUE FOLK ART PRIMITIVE WALL SHELF CABINET CUPBOARD OOAK BUTTER CREAM RED PAINT SQUARE NAILS* Up for auction is wonderful one-of-a-kind wall shelf. It's definitely not American and is likely from England or points East. It has some nice detailing. Adorable knobs and a pleasant color. It's a soft yellow/ butter/ cream color and has red trim. The paint is probably original and is worn, chipped and nicked here and there. It's old, it's Primitive and the paint is all patina-ed aged just the way we like it. It likely would have hung on the wall. But it even looks cute sitting on the floor. There are 3 little drawers in the middle. The two on the outsides measure 4.25" W x 5" D x 3" H. The middle is a little larger and measures 7.75" W x 5" D x 3" H. The drawers are dovetailed/ mortised as ... moreyou can see in the pictures. Then there is a shelf above the drawers and it's 7.75" H and two shelves below the drawers. The middle shelf is 9.75" H and the bottom shelf is 9.5" H. The whole cabinet measures 32.25" W x 34" H x 7" D and weighs 25 lbs. Check out the nice detailing on the side panels. There's a nice scrolled cut out that's oval in shape with some cuts out of it. There are two turned balusters. One left and one right. The drawers have some nice wooden drawer pulls as you can see in the pictures. These look to be original. On the back of the cabinet it's never been painted. Except for a little spill over from the front. There look to be some square nails(see picture of the back) but most of them are round nails with some slotted screws here and there. The left and right panels were cracked at one point and the right one has some damage at the top. Shown in the pictures. This is probably from trying to pick up the cabinet by the sides as these are just wings hanging out there and should not be used to lift it. FABULOUS BUCKS COUNTY PENNSYLVANIA STEP BACK HUTCH WITH THE ORIGINAL INTERIOR PAINT. A STUNNING PIECE THAT ALWAYS TURNS HEADS! This was purchased in Bucks county in 1980 for the then princely sum of $2000. We then took it to a professional cabinet maker. Antique restorer to have it raised to its original height. This majestic piece will fit into an 8' ceiling. Step back hutches were cut down by the hundreds in order to fit them into modern homes with lower ceilings. This practice prevented use of the area under the top as a serving area. It is much more elegant and serviceable the way it was intended and is now. The dovetailed joints are proof of its age.
