I believe this cupboard to be made of pine. It is 28.5” high. 14.5” deep, and 28.25” wide at the widest point(the top corners) The back of the cupboard is open. So your gorgeous wall color will show through. The two interior shelves are painted white. The outside of the cupboard is natural with protective coat on it. The patina on this is just lovely. There is some wear to the bottom left corner. And the back piece is a bit separated from the main piece(see pictures) Some extra nails/screws and general tightening up will address these issues. There is also a chunk of wood taken out of the top right corner(again. Pictured) which would be easily covered ... morewith stain/polish. Again. This is in as-found condition. Who has signed his name and info about the cupboard on the inside door( See photo) This Hutch is made from true one inch by up to sixteen inch wide chestnut boards which were removed from Mr. Crumbuss's floor during expansion of his home dated 1747. You can see the original markings from original cut nails which were used on the flooring. The family states Mr. Crumbuss build this in 1875 and used in his eating room. LIGHTING American Red Painted Wardrobe(Kas) Pennsylvania Mid 19th Century Item# 130009JLE22 This wonderful Red Painted Kas or Wardrobe was crafted during the middle of the 19th Century. Almost certainly in Pennsylvania. It is the embodiment of charm, boasting an early dry and ruddy painted surface covering thick solid yellow pine planks. It"knocks down" into many parts for ease of movement and shipment- the crest, the side panels, the three backboards, the two stiles separating the backboards, the doors that lift off of their hinges, the blade between the doors and the lower base in one piece. Each of these parts come together as panels that tenon and chamfer into the mitered cuts in the reciprocating parts, requiring no pegging ... moreor other joinery to bring the entire armoire together. While the surface is probably not original, it is very early, dry and well patinated. The armoire retains originality in almost all parts, the hinges, the lock, the knobs, the latches- all untouched. The backboards have a series of signatures from years of ownership scattered randomly along them. Mostly confined to the centermost plank. These read in graphite" John Conti 1978" John Zimmerman June 21st 1916" J B Flynn 1886" and somewhat illegibly in chalk" 1877" The complex cove molded crest is nailed along the edges over the rectangular crown of dovetail joinery. The entire case is joined with through-tenon mortised joinery around chamfered panels that rest inside the mitered edges. This making up the sides and doors. A thin half-round molding completes the transition between the crest and shaft, the shaft and base. The base is a single piece with a pair of hand dovetailed drawers retaining their original wooden knob handles, the bottoms deeply bevelled and nailed along the back edge. It 9 little pull out drawers with wooden handles. The knobs are newer and are not original. It's made from old crates that say"American Cheese" and"Cloverfield Processed Cheese" Take a look at the pictures of the drawers by themselves. The cabinet is a cute size and measures 13.5" W x 16" H x 12" D(not incl. knobs) the little drawers are each about 10.5" D x 3.5" W x 3.5" H. We're not sure of the age of this cabinet.
