These are a set of 4 English Dining Room Chairs in the Queen Anne style. They are from circa 1910. They are in excellent condition and very sturdy. They are faux painted to look like rosewood I believe. That is the original finish. Very unusual. The upholstery is original and a mohair type. Like a cut velvet. The seats are removable slip seats, if you need to change the fabric. They have some scratches here and there. But not really that noticeable. I have owned them since 1973. Saddleseat, American made. height is about 36 inches, width of widest part of seat about 17 inches. I am not an expert on windsor chairs, i am guessing at the age of these from the 1930's or 1940's. the finish on all is pretty rough as you can see in the pictures. light sanding and stain and finish should do the trick to make them comfy for your home, or paint if you like. they are sturdy. notice in pics 2 chairs have nicks or crack, not all the way thru more of surface damage. all chairs have tiny nicks as they must have been well used. sold as is no returns. local pickup only. I gave up as it became futile. What I can tell you about the chairs. The chairs are solid wood& hand carved. I am unsure of the wood. The chairs appear to be from around the mid to late 1800's. During this time period generally mahogany was used. But I cannot verify the wood. The black material appears to be leather. Dating of the chair came from the springs- thick/heavy. I do not know if the leather is the original material. The style of the chair leads me to believe it came from Europe. These are generally what is called a throne chair. The story goes that they were placed in front of the fire with a matching footrest(not available) in the drafty castle to stay warm. Concerns: Obviously there are concerns with the chairs. I was not able to capture all concerns in the pictures- not enough picture space on ebay. The main concerns are the cracks demonstrated throughout the pictures. There are cracks in the chairs that have been repaired(you can see the glue/cracks in areas) I did not do any repairing-
