Crafted in the Louis XVI taste during the first quarter of the 20th Century is a classic example of the very successful design. Of diminutive proportions. It is more of an oversized bergere arm chair than a true loveseat. The width ideal for lounging casually with a good book in a comfortable setting. The crest is a perfect arch, sharply angled at each corner to form the squared back- this balance of tight lines with soft flowing form was a difficult harmony to achieve, conforming to the clean form important to Neoclassical designs while still being warm and inviting. This piece captures it perfectly, the arched crest mirrored in the projecting bowed apron and the soft cyma-curve of the arms and arm supports. These details giving shape and depth to an otherwise austere adherence to the square. Crisp carved details bring elegance to specific elements of this fine sofa: the acanthus carved arm supports or reeded and curled handholds. The fine deep molding of the frame with gilt highlights over a mellow green ground, and the deep rosette carvings on each knee. The arms are fully upholstered, these flanking a deep and incredibly comfortable down-stuffed cushion, creating ultimate support and sleepy comfort in the overall loveseat design. Bought at Christie's Auction approx 8 years ago. The table has an oval top with central ebony reserve and radially veneered with rosewood. Mahogany and other exotic fruitwood. It sits above 4 fluted columnar uprights on a base supported by 4 splayed legs with brass lion paw caps and casters. The table measures 31 inches high, 59 inches wide and 41 3/4 in deep. The 4 chairs were purchased separately. They have a mahogany frame are upholstered with a light tan soft seagrass fabric. The upholstery is finished with brass bolts. Chair measures 38" from floor to top of back height, 19.5 in from floor to top of seat, 21" depth of seat and 21.5" across seat.

My taste in furniture is more rustic so I have no use for this furniture and I'm sure she would want me to find someone who would love it as much as she did. The furniture was refinished in 2008 but due to being moved it has sustained a few scratched and nicks. Nothing that cannot easily be repaired. The table is 38" x 72" with the leaf. The leaf is 16" There are some small scratches and a nick on the chairs. The rose fabric was put on over the original green and beige striped fabric. The seat cushion fabric is easily and inexpensively changed. The china hutch is 38" wide and 69" tall it has a small bit of damage to the lower edge. 1898 Antique Maple and Cane Chairs (2)
These two maple and cane chairs were purchased at Paine Furniture Company in Boston MA in 1898. I am only the second owner. Having purchased them in 1976 from the original owner. I had the chairs professionally refinished and the cane seats replaced in 1979. The cane is still in perfect condition with no breaks or sagging. The top of the chair back has 3 burl inlays. The chairs have normal wear with a few scratches and water spots on the wood edge of the seats. Which should be easy to fix with a wood tint and polish. You are bidding on six(6) ladderback antique chairs. Of the six. One(probably the most valuable of the six, BY FAR) is a child's rocking-chair. The chairs are solid- in what I would call very good condition- with the EXCEPTION OF the fact that, at some point, the legs were shortened. Apparently that is very common with 18th century chairs(the leg bottoms wearing out/sitting on moist floors, for a couple of centuries will do that) And apparently the shortened legs do substantially reduce the value of the antique chairs.that is why I am selling them so inexpensively. The lowest seat's height is 14" The tallest chair's seat height is 16 1/2" Anyway. They have been newly upholstered in a pale beige and offwhite interwoven fabric that has a marverlous feel to the touch. The fabric is an expensive quality Duralee fabric that is seen in the finest of designer magazines. Wood is a warm original patina walnut. No phoney refinishing. Original brass castors are still with chair as well. Size is ample and comfortable. The chairs measure 38" high to the top of the back. And seats are 25" wide and 21 1/2" deep. The chairs do not sit low like many of these era chairs. The crown of the seat is 18" from the floor and the upholstery job was done by a fine professional upholsterer. No smells, no stinks, no rips, ... moreno breaks to wood or pieces missing.all very very nice and in good quality conditon and handsome looks. The fabric was choosen to go with any decor. This is a wonderful set of eight matching solid mahogany dining chairs that are made by the White Furniture Company out of Mebane. North ... moreCarolina, and I believe they date from the 1950s or‘60s. They’re nice solid-made chairs, all solid mahogany, including the fancy cutout center splat. Each detailed chair has a most unusual tapered four-sided angled mahogany cross-stretcher. The chairs are country Chippendale, with a country Chippendale front leg, flared back leg, solid mahogany center splat, carved knuckles on the arm chairs, and the entire set consists of two arm chairs and six sides. The seats are frayed, and I’m assuming they should be replaced. They are usable, but are very easily recovered, as they are slip-on seats. They have a dark reddish-brown finish, and the overall condition is good and sturdy. You can see where one chair was repaired at one time, and it looks like a really good job, but we’ll check it all over. There is also some finish worn off on one of the master chair arms, which we will detail out before shipping. The overall size of the arm chairs is 22 inches wide, 20 inches deep, 39 inches high to the top of the chair, 27 inches to the arm, and 19 inches to the seat. One owner for many decades. The owner is downsizing so this sentimental item must go. Full compliment of pieces: China Hutch/Cabinet Drop Leaf Table with 3 extensions Protective Pad(6 pieces) Chairs(6) The China Cabinet is a solid piece with a clear glass panel that highlights fine china and glassware remarkably. Overall height is 61.25 inches; width is 42 inches. The China Hutch has glass panels in front that slide left and right. The Hutch measures 12.50 inches deep. The Drawer and Storage area below is 18 inches deep. All drawer and cabinet hardware is original brass. The Drawer and Storage area has two drawers(4.25 and 6.00 inches high. Respectively) ... moreplus a center open two door Storage Area at the bottom(15.50 inches high) The top drawer has three(3) compartments. The second drawer has one full sized compartment. Inside the Storage Area is an additional full width shelf that is 10 inches deep measured from its back wall. An oval Brickwede brass tag can be found in the top drawer of the China Cabinet which possibly dates this furniture back to the early 1900's(see Brickwede Bros. notes below) The Dining Table has a formal look and style. Overall measurements are 57 inches long x 42 inches wide x 29.625 inches high without extension leafs. The Table folds down and make it even smaller when not in use. The Table expands manually and vice versa. Top surface has a very high luster. Quite solid as are the chairs. The Dining Table Chairs match the Table and Hutch perfectly.
