This is a mates chair and although it have those little stubby"arms" it is not to be confused with the actual captain's chair of this style that has much longer arms. These were produced for a number of years by Ethan Allen for a few of their lines including Traditional and Early American. There is no damage to the chair and only a few tiny dings or scratches from normal use. There is very light wear to the very tip of the top rail and tip of the"arms" All the joints are nice and tight. It is in the popular nutmeg color and the finish is very good. It has been thoroughly cleaned and polished with butchers wax. It is 29 1/2" tall with a 17" seat height. The height of those stubby"arms" is only 25 1/4" so these chairs can be tucked tightly under the apron of most tables. Leaving more floor space in a smaller dining area. As for the chair it is very comfortable due to the great formed seat work that Ethan Allen was noted for in all of their lines from this period. It is constructed of maple and built to last for generations. As always, feel free to ask any questions and I'll get right back to you. The larger rocker is signed(see pics) with the Shaker label and the number 7. It measures 42 x 25x 19. This rocker is in good condition though again there is a crack in the arm and in one of the back ladders. Both rockers appeared to have non-professional fixes to the cracks and they have been re- taped with the cotton Shaker tape. And four as carver armchairs, with studded leather backs and seats, some floral embossed, standing on square section legs united with stretchers, some with shaped carved friezes. Crude and primitive(but charming) old repairs and replacements to leather work, some splits and cracks, some old woodworm damage, scuffing, staining and scratching, and general overall wear with some feet re-tipped. Some are slightly older than others with iron studwork dating to around c.1700 with the others being more of a mid seventeenth century period showing brass studwork. All the chairs have a wonderful colour and deep patination to their walnut frames. Imagine a line up of colourful war criminals of the same family. With the scars of battle, and you are some way to understanding the make up of this octet. They have probably seen things in 18thC Spain that you or I would not dare dream of. This is not to deny that they are of considerable quality, with a gorgeous mellow patina to the walnut and a softness to the leather, and one can happily sit in each without fear of toppling over; they are sturdy and comfortable. Handsome Pair of Antique Walnut Throne Chairs
Last listing of these chairs before they go in a local shop on consignment. I have for your consideration a very handsome pair of European handmade walnut throne chairs. I am not sure of their age but they are definitely early 20th century or possibly 19th century pieces and could be Italian manufacture as I've found other Italian made throne chairs with similar design. My wife simply liked them and bought them so we don't know their history. Each chair is solid with no loose joints or damage other than normal age wear. You can see and feel the hand made craftsmanship and each one has slight differences in the carvings and some of the wood has worm holes which was part of the character we liked about them. The finish appears to be original which is a plus for antique furniture and I am not sure if the leather was ever replaced. Since ... moreit is in absolutely pristine condition I would say it has been at some point, but not by us. Antique Dining Table 9ft 10in X 44in w/ six leaves & 8 original chairs
Tiger Oak dining table and chairs. They are from the mid to late 1800's. The table seems older like possibly from the 1830s to 1860s and the chairs seem to be from a period between 1875 and 1900. Without leaves the table measures 44in square. There are six(6) leaves each about 1 3/8in. The total length with all leaves is 9ft 10in. The table is in very good condition. It was completely restored in about 1998. The under frame is all original and did not need any restoration. A miracle really. It is remains in excellent working condition fully supporting the six leaves. It opens and closes very smoothly. With all of the leaves. This table is absolutely beautiful. Huge. It looks like it goes on forever. You can comfortably serve 12 and could probably squeeze in 14. There is some minor water damage on three leaves and on one side of the table. ... moreAn example photo is attached. More photos are available. A local sanding and re-polish would mostly suffice although if you want it perfect the entire top would need to be re-sanded and re-finished. But it would require nothing more than that for perfection. There are 8 chairs. Seven(7) have caning threaded through the wood itself while the 8th has an inset cane panel. A two photos of the cane panel are provided. Some example photos of the threaded caning are provided and the 7 other chairs are substantially similar. I'll send you more photos if needed. The chairs are beautiful tiger oak. They were fully restored in 1998 including gluing. Caning and finish. The seat was also repaired on each chair where the original wood had become weak. All original wood was maintained. You can see the overlay that was added in one of the photos of the bottom toward the left. The doors of the cabinets have elaborate carvings of Spanish European castles, knights, etc. See pictures to appreciate the detail. The table and two side boards all have matching carved claw feet with wrought iron decoration at the bases. It is a stunning set. The table has two built in extension leaves that allows it to expand to a total of 122 inches. Without the leaves being extended, the table is 66 inches long. The incredible solid mahogany triple pedestal table is banded around the perimeter. The 3 pedestals all have 4 legs, each with brass casters. Each table section is attached to the pedestal, if you remove the center section, you also remove the center pedestal. The table was made by Georgian Furniture Manufacturers; this company no longer exists, they had showrooms in London, Paris, and Rome. Their furniture was of the highest reputation and built by hand in Seoul South Korea. It is incredibly well engineered and crafted. Table was likely made in the 1970's; the company now operating under this is not the same maker. This is an Antique Victorian Solid Hardwood Round Dinning Table with a Flip Top That Turns Into a Chair. 47 inches in diameter. Oak Bent Wood Chairs are from the 1920's(or earlier) Chairs have no hardware. All joints are doweled. Chairs were recently professionally refurbished. They were taken apart. Stained, glued and put back together. Finished with a light varnish. Then all had new cane seats made. Total cost was $600. I still have the receipt. Chairs have a very slight teeter. Caps on the bottom of the legs should take care of it. You could also leave it like it is. Table is artisan made and estimated to be much older then the chairs. It has not been refurbished.
