Antique Victorian clock case/curio cabinet
Offered for auction is this super nice old clock case that has been adapted for use as a curio cabinet. Small slats of wood have been nail into the interior sides and glass shelves installed that sit on the wood slats. Six glass shelves are included. also. The interior has been fitted with contact paper to better show up what you are displaying oh the glass shelves. Can be removed easily. The top piece of glass is missing. Bottom glass pieces are beveled. Nice pediment with carved design and the case still has the brass plate on the bottom of the door to mark the pendulum swing. also, two screw adjustments on the bottom to level the case against the wall. Not sure of the wood species but is very light colored, little grain and appears to be poplar or gum wood. Probably has a nice soft stain on it and has a honey color. Heavy. Size: 13 1/4" ... morew x 31 1/2" t x 6' deep. Up for auction is an antique cabinet makers workbench. The bench is most likely made of oak. But could be some kind of other hardwood species. The workbench is in great stuctural condition. The top has the usual chisel marks and scratches that come with years of use, but I would say this one is better than most. I do not know how old this bench is, but being that it has wood threads on the 2 vices, I would guess late 19th century or early 20th century. The top measures 24" x 74 1/2" not including the vices. The wooden cabinet has a door with a supplies area and there are scratches and nicks on the wooden cabinet. The cabinet is a red, cherry looking wood. There is a recessed waist below the top that has an unusual double bead detail in the center. The three drawers and the two doors are are flush with the front frame. The doors are a flush panel style. The layout of the doors have been changed at some point. Originally this Cabinet had Three panels. One below each drawer. These panels most likely were not hinged, but lifted out. To make it more usable, one of the panels was split in half, and each half is now used as a fixed panel placed on either side of the pair of doors. Each door ... morenow has wood pivots. The original hardware has been retained. They are missing some parts. But the back plates are intact, and due to the unusual style, it was better to leave them on. There is a nice carved apron in the bottom. As well as carved feet on the front legs. Much of the old brown lacquer is still on this beautiful piece. Very tiny bit of wear to gold and just a few, tiny singular scratch marks in glaze when you angle the plate looking for them. Antique Arts& Crafts Era Wood Wall Mount Store Display Cabinet Thread Display I had an opportunity to go down state Illinois recently for the homecoming of my Alma Mater and shopped the wonderful sales. Barn sales and antique shops along the way. I have a huge variety of oldees for you this week- from 19th century primitives to 1950s kitsch- there’s something for everyone! This one is very very cool. It's a farm auction find that no one could identify for me. But the general consensus(and I agree) is that it was more than likely a store thread spool display piece. Made of solid wood, it has a tiger oak decorative veneer that shows some wear and egdge shipping. If you like rustic, the cabinet is for you- if you are looking for a project, it would be a beauty to restore also. The cabinet measures 25 1/2" wide at the top, 22" ... morewide at the body, has 6 shelves that are 18 1/2" by 2 1/2" deep, stands 23 1.2" tall, 5 1/2" deep at the top and 3 1/2" deep at the body. It weighs 14 3/4 lbs. The shelves are rounded to hold rounded items(like spools) and you can see that there's 7, a little over) 2" wide spaces on each shelf- you can see the wood is a little lighter between each one- they are not physically separated, the shelf is rounded and smooth all the way across. There are numbers, 1-6 stenciled in what looks like gold with a black rim, starting 1 at the back of the bottom shelf and going up to 6 at the back of the top shelf- I have no idea what they represented, and there's no other markings or identification on the piece. The cabinet is unfinised at the top- making it appear as if it attached to something from above, or possibly was built in? The bottom is finished, but you can also see the heads of the hardware attaching the sides, so I do believe it was not meant for display- the cabinet does stand well on its own as the bottom is flat. Measures about 20 5/8" high to top of pediment and about 10 1/4" wide at the base by about 5" deep. Mirrored door with 3 shelves inside and a 7 1/2" wide drawer at the bottom. Could be used as a jewelry cabinet or? I would guess this dates to around 1900 or so. The main case is pine wood that reminds me of the antique English country pine furniture you used to see a lot of. The faux bamboo trim is the same color as the pine. But looks like a harder, tight-grained wood like maple or something similar. Very good overall condition. Mirror has a couple of very minor spots of silvering loss. this vintage oak filing cabinet has a tabletop! never saw one like it. But the top is very early. so it serves as both a side table and as a storage unit. NOTE the drawers are not very good at wheeling on their rollers. they are able to be pulled in and out. As I understand it.this sweet ice box came from England with another piece I purchased for my main countertop in my kitchen. It is OLD. I believe it to be around the late 1700s. The inside is fully tined lined. The knob on top is original as well as the rest. It is one HEAVY piece. There is wear naturally on the piece and some good old cracks on sides but tight and top has some wear also where someone used it probably to cut some meat or something. The nice big bun feet has some old detoriation. But they are solid and work fine. Wonderful Patina! Take away all the cracks and wear marks and it and it would not be as GOOD looking as it is. l have a very old corner cabinet up for sale. I have had several antique dealers look at it and they say the wood is not native to this country so I am unsure what it is made out of. There are huge bubbles in the glass in one pane. It is all hand made. The dental molding has all been cut individually. Small square head nails used. 2 antique windows/ cabinet doors.These were taken out of the attic area of an old house that a relative razed years ago. We have had them in our possession for about 30 years. They were in the same area of the house but we do not know if they were side by side or separate in the room. We are selling them as a pair. They look like glass but I do not know that for sure. They look leaded but again. I have no way of knowing.is there a way to check) The frames are in good condition and are put together dove tail style. The wood looks like oak. Notice both window side by side, there is a bit of difference in the pattern but you have to look close to see it. One side of the frame appears to be darker than the other side. They just look like natural wood and never painted. The pull rings look like brass and the hinges are original too. Antique VTG Wooden Apothecary Printers slanted Cabinet 1800s Labels 19th c Old
Great antique cabinet with 11 drawers. 8 are printing drawers with tons of slots for printing block. 3 are storage drawers with cast iron pulls. Owners must have switched out the shelves long ago and put in the larger ones to hold extra storage. The top is cracked as seen in photo 8 but it is still very solid. Either top left leg or bottom right legs is just barely a hair too short/ long. That is why you see the piece of hardware under the leg in front(this would be a super easy fix but I am too lazy) Two knobs are porcelain. The rest look to be wooden. There are lots of labels on this cabinet. The first label reads Forest County Public school. I don't know much about the history but am assuming it was used in a school at one time. Has some scratches and scuffs, in original condition, one side has a crack through it as you can see, can be glued and clamped if you want, but it doesn't affect use or aesthetic in my opinion. Original drawer pull has been cleaned and refurbished. Hangers added to the back side for your convenience. This tray arrives to you ready to hang. These trays were originally lined with paper beneath the dividers. The paper almost always turns black from the lead. Ink and graphite used in the printing process. The paper has been cut away and removed from each section prior to cleaning and disinfecting the tray. It came in on our last container. ... moreAnd is absolutely clean and stunning, in a beautiful dark reddish-brown mahogany stain finish. It has three shelves inside for tons of storage. It has its original old glass that shows some surface scratches and wavy glass, and what’s amazing is that each door has individual mullions, which means five separate pieces of glass. Also, take a look at the mahogany grillwork. The original key comes with it, and like always, the key appears to work, but we never guarantee these old locks to work without being adjusted, cleaned, and spoken to softly. There is a dainty little curved backsplash, and there is a nice bow to the front. The overall size is 35 inches wide, 13 inches at the deepest point, 49 inches high to the backsplash, and 47 inches high to the top of the base cabinet. Scalloped edge with gold gilding and a forest green ring around the rim under the gold glding, also has gold trim around the edge bottom of the green. Measures approximately 8 7/8"almost 9" and 1" high. This plate was made in the first quarter of the 20th century, likely around 1904-1915. Condition is very good with no cracks, chips or crazing.
