At a time when mass production and reproduction defined the furniture industry, as the Victorian age enjoyed machined and factory processes in most aspects of the business, the Aesthetic Movement was a distinct rejection of the homogenized industry. Seeking to bring art back to the furnishings, works of the Aesthetic Movement are characterized by intricate inlays, complex veneer work, reinterpretations of 17th and 18th Century styles- particularly Chinese Gothic and Chippendale. In this example. We see remarkable influence from the William and Mary Period promulgated in the inverted trumpet pillar supports beneath the top shelf and the interpretation of bun feet. However, the case has an angular geometry that speaks of Neoclassicism across the rest of the surface, the cross-banded veneered doors and mirror reflect in the truncated prisms that flank the drawer- the angles literally bounce around the entire facade of the cabinet. These are given structure and purpose with the deeply fluted Neoclassical columns that flank either door and raise the entire case architecturally. Completing the form is a crest that is highly naturalistic and chip carved with great skill. A pierced and flowing design highly representative of the Art Nouveau movement. The veneered doors are match-booked, creating a circular vortex that swirls around the panels. Crafted in Walnut and Walnut veneers over White Pine. This is an absolute treasure for any serious collector of the fine works of the Aesthetic Movement- it is a piece you can look on and study, finding more intricacies the longer you look on it and examine its case. Some restoration work should eventually be done on it, steaming the warp out of the door and removing the glue from the pair of finials and restoring them to the top, but it can still be enjoyed in it's c

This is an Antique very nice Solemakers Library Bureau 4 drawer Oak card file cabinet in good condition. The fingerjoints are the old hand done ones with the extra detail on the back panel which leads me to believe it is probably pre 1900. The hardware and Solemakers Tag are all original brass with a natural tarnished patina. The interior slides are not with the box but the interior is clean and in good shape. The finish was cleaned a bit and a new top coat of shellac applied. There is some fading to the original color on one side with the rest in a good original light to medium oak shade. There are some use marks primarily to the top but the cabinet is in good condition and a good looking piece of furniture. OFFERED HERE: This antique cabinet photo showing an old-time hunting party proudly displaying a large buck and their rifles. We found this vintage photo near Williamsport. Pa. and it might be assumed that this kill was made in nearby mountains. Central Pennsylvania was without deer for many years way-back-when, so it's unknown how this kill figured into that history, if it did. Was this one of the last bucks, or one of the first of the restocked deer? My guess is that the photo could be from late in the 19th Century or early in the Twentieth. I also will note that the men appear similar to many I've seen in antique coal mining and vintage lumber camp photos. There were both in the mountains around Williamsport, but it's unknown again if either played a role in this photo. CONDITION: Front margins and back are soiled. Please check out the pictures– they show how wonderful this old cabinet is. This antique primitive wall mount medicine chest cabinet with mirror door has all of its original paint(at least two coats) and the original mirror. The wood was first stained. Then painted old green, and then the tan or beige it is now– there are some splatters of white around the edges, too. The mounting bracket at the top is brass and is 2 7/8” across the bottom and is 1 3/4” tall. The back panel for this cabinet is a fantastic piece of wood that was most likely used as a shipping carton at one time– ... moreit is marked with the words: hospital. 751 Albany St, Boston, Mass. and the numbers 436 in a circle. This wood cabinet stands 26 1/4” tall from top to bottom. The top piece is 19 7/8” from side to side and 5 5/8” from front to back. And then narrows done to 19” across the front. The middle of the cabinet measures 18 1/4” from side to side and is 4 7/8” from front to back. The base or molding around the bottom is 19 1/4” across the front and is 5 1/4” from front to back. The door is 16 3/4” wide. 23 1/4” tall and is 7/8” thick. The mirror measures 18 3/4” x 12” and is mounted securely into the door. The two-piece latch is fully functional and is 2” long(with both pieces) The mirror is free from any scratches or gouges but there is a very small amount of poisoning in the lower right hand corner. There are also some bits of paint on the surface that will easily clean off. The cardboard backing on the mirror has some old water damage– probably from bathroom steam. There are 3 shelves, including the base of the cabinet. They are all in very good condition, but do show signs of use. I especially like that the front and sides are glass and can look through it. The old wavy glass on this is incredible. The front has narrow wood slats that reminds me of mission style. Some of the wood is missing on lower right side(see Pic) You probably could get some veneer and match up or just leave as is. The piece is in overall good sturdy shape for its age. Oak antique stacker(three pieces) office cabinet. I have no idea as to why the bottom two stackers have holes made into the pull out drawers. Normal wear from age. There was no crown the top piece on the top stacker when I purchased it. I do see that ebay has some listed for sale or maybe you have a stacker that will go on top that is finished. The two bottom pull out drawers measure 7" high while the top file area measures 12-1/2" high. No makers name on it. There are 3 shelves inside, 1 has a candle burns from where people used to light with a candle. There is no restoration to the cabinet except a piece of wood on left end foot and small ear tip on front foot. The ends each have 4 ventilation holes. The hinges are not original.Very nice small size, 36" wide top molding, 67 1/2 tall, 17 1/2 deep. Good luck what a piece of american history! Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE Description Apothecary Cabinet(circ 1880) This herbal cabinet features 44 individual drawers. Each draw was for different herb that is named on the destinctive drawer pulls. Found in early drugstores. This item is dated by the KNAPP joints used in the contruction of the drawers. Metal handles held in place with metal screws have the names of each herb pressed into the metal in latin. This would make a great addition to any antique drugstore, movie prop, kitchen herb bench or smalls storage drawers in a conversion apartment. This is a very old item which has flaws and character but do not survive and as a result very rarely come on to the market. Due to the size and nature of this piece it will be a pick up only. Measurements This piece in total of both sets of drawers measures 92" long(each ... moreunit being 46" long) by 12" deep by 44" tall. The top longer drawers measure 20" long by 10" deep by 3" tall. The other 40 drawers measure 10" long by 10" deep by 4" tall. The top section which is not constructed would measure 92" long by 52" tall by 8" deep. This is an AUTHENTIC DRUG STORE MEDICINE CABiNET. That comes from a defunct Drug Store in Lorain(near Cleveland) Ohio. Oak. With a dark stain. 2-Doors. With original BRASS latches. Bottom door does stick. 2 Drawers on very bottom. Inside the main cabinet. There are multi shelves, adjustable with original wooden wedges that fit into the angled grooves on both sides of the cabinet. Cabinest was made this way so the druggist could easily adjust the shelves for the many, vaired, heights of bottles and jars that he kept in the cabinet. There is a noticeable odor of MEDIcINE when you open the door. It is not objectionable. But it is there. NOT musty, but medicine-y. I think it smells sort of like an old LINIMENT. GLOBE WERNICKE? STACK FILE CABINET BASE PART. 1/4 SAWN TIGER OAK! This is old. Does have wear,and a split on inside edge of top board, see pictures. BASE part only, for stack file cabinet. Globe wernicke? Not marked. 1/4 Sawn Tiger Oak. Base part stands approximately 19-3/4" tall, top is about 33" x 17" Please check out the pictures they are the best description. Antique Communion Cabinet
Built in early to mid 1800's in Belgium. Passed down through family. Completely hand carved by many craftsmen. All hardware is handcrafted with the symbols of the crafter as seen in picture of hinges. This is either a communion cabinet. Maybe a chalious cabinet. Two hand carved doors open in front and one large hidden door in back. It is a very unique piece, extremely hard to find. Very hard to part with. I had a antique refinisher look at it to make a copy for one of my childern he said it would cost$25.000 to replicate. This a very beautiful piece that would add elegance and grace to any room.

The measuring tape on the pictures is for size references Very elegant item in fine original condition worth building the entire room around it. Top quality of carving. Gilded bronze hardware, great sense of taste and proportions- a real masterpiece. When we found it the bibliotheque was used as a buffet and for this transformation ... morea mirror was added to the back of the top section and the wooden shelves were replaced with two glass shelves. I am selling it as found. With one key, two glass shelves for the top section which are not original to this item, and one wooden shelf for the bottom section. However, if you want you can order an extra key for $50 and we can make wooden shelves for you if you do not want glass, which will cost $200 each. Shelves will look antique and if you do not know that they are newly made you would never believe so) For shipping purposes it will be taken apart but is easy to put together. All that you have to do is place the top section onto the bottom one, no tools or special skills required. Measures about 107” tall. 49” wide. The bottom part measures about 43” high and 21” deep.
