The inside of the drawer bears a tag for“G.T. Rackstraw. Worcester, England. Made from fine mahogany wood, this buffet has beautiful color and an attractive look. The company G. T. Rackstraw originated in England around 1749. They specialized in making fine furniture of mahogany. Yew, and oak. Their focus was to make a high end item that would last for many ... morelifetimes. Because of their quality construction they are rarely sold, but instead handed down from generation to generation. We feel this sideboard was made around 1960. The wonderful mahogany has a splendid grain and beautiful color. Satinwood inlays and mahogany cross bands provide subtle. But necessary contrast around the doors, drawers, and top. Further enhancing the beauty of this sideboard are fluted details between the drawers and doors and down the legs. The legs themselves are tapered and end in spade feet. The cabinet doors stay closed with a spring latch and the drawers slide smoothly on wooden runners. The brass ring pulls are in great shape and are the right proportion for this size buffet. The only blemish on this bow front sideboard is a small separation in the top on the right hand side. We have pictured this in the photos. This separation is from shrinkage of the solid mahogany top that occurs when the wood breathes. This is a cosmetic phenomenon and does not affect the integrity of the top. For Auction: Stunning antique buffet/ server. From around 1880's to 1900. Nice hand carving work on this piece and It is the original finish with great patina. Both bottom doors lock and have key. The server has some wear for its age. But it is solid with no loose joints and is in overall great condition. Top has a split(see pic) But it has been glued so it is solid and secure. The line is still slightly visible since it was not sanded and refinished as to hide it completely. Overall dimensions are 50" wide x 37" tall x 18" deep. The edge is is flat with no detail. There is a stretcher type piece above and below the door openings. The flush doors have an external mounted wood pivot that runs from top to bottom on the edge of each door. Each door has beautiful paintings of flowers and vases in mostly red colors. The drawer fronts. Front frame, spandrels and apron also have painted designs. The lacquer on the top of the cabinet appears to be done in a style that is called Pi Ma Hui. Which is a process where a layer of fabric is first placed ... moreon the cabinet and the lacquer is applied over the fabric. As seen in the photos there are sections of the lacquer missing and there are cracks in the finish. The lacquer is black but in some areas looks more like a very dark brown due to aging. for sale is a very nice antique solid quartersawn oak buffet made in 1904. it has a nice backspash with a carved crest and the original beveled mirror. it also features twisted legs and twisted columns as part of the back splash. it has double yoke stretcher which adds additional beauty to the piece and additional support to the legs which is really not needed i don't think. it is rock solid with no wiggles. Wobbles, loose joints, or any other issues to report that would be deemed detrimental to the buffet. it features abundant quartersawn oak flake over the entire piece. it has a long drawer across the top with dividers in it and two large drawers below it in the center and of course as you see two doors, one on either side, that expose a large storage area which has a half shelf which may be put in if desired. the i have the holder ... morepins for the shelves. all the locks are extremely clean and quite functional. the drops on the drawers are large and solid brass and are heavy since they are solid. the buffet is 60 inches wide, 39.5 inches to the top of the cabinet portion and 54.25 inches to the top of the crest of the back splash. it is 24 inches deep. it moves easily on its original metal casters. the piece is rock solid, all original with no missing parts or pieces and no repairs that is see. it is near mint condition. it matches a table i now have listed as well as a set of 6 chairs. i tried the set together with no luck, so i have busted it up and will sell the pieces separately. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at buyer's expense. good luck. fyi. I have owned this beautiful oak sideboard for about 10 years. It is in nice shape with the original finish. It has a few minor condition issues(see photos) Nothing serious. Measures 86 1/2 inches wide, 23 1/4 inches deep, and 51 inches tall. It is made to come apart. So it is much easier to move than it appears. My Father told me it was common for old furniture to come apart in northern Europe as stairways and doors were often narrow. The family I bought it from purchased it in the 1950's from a friend who imported antiques from Belgium. They used it as a store fixture(it has a check guarantee bank sticker on the back) and later in their home. No shipping on this item. You will need to pick it up at my house in Portland. This piece has gorgeous grain and still retains its original DARK finish. Has two smaller drawers across the top and one large drawer across the middle. And cabinet with two doors below- all with original wooden knobs. Columns/pillars on either side of the mirror. It is in very good/excellent condition with some normal wear on the feet. Some small scuffs on the top(nothing major- the worst is shown) small nicks and scratches here and there, and the cabinet doors each need a latch. Otherwise great with maybe some dust. It's not too bad but as expected, you'd probably want to clean it to your liking before using it. The drawers have keyholes/key holes. I might have the ... morekey lying around- will have to check. Original surface. No major issues, just some light wear. This stands 68.5" at the tallest point. The base is 36" tall x 20 deep and 54" long. We believe this is Cherry wood. It's very stable and a bit heavy. The mirror is beveled with slight silver loss. But not bad. This is a really nice piece of furniture.

It was manufactured in October 1944. It has a top drawer and 3 bottom doors. There is a lower shelf for storage. This piece is sturdy and in very good condition. There is some minor surface imperfection on the left side bottom but nothing that takes away from the appearance of this neat buffet. Antique Saginaw Furniture Mahogany Buffet Cabinet
This beautiful. Solid mahogany buffet cabinet, made by Saginaw Furniture of Michigan in the l930s, combines great Art Deco styling with a compact design. The 36" wide cabinet is 20 1/2" deep when closed and 30 1/2" high. There are six 15" leaves-all solid mahogany-and an extra leg that can be added when all are used for support. It opens to 9 feet but you'd never know it to see it all closed up as small as a commode. A fantastic piece, hard to find, perfect for people in a small abode who like to entertain. Beautiful Antique buffet/sideboard with retractable leaves
This is a beautiful antique sideboard. It was sold to us as being mahogany wood but I can't be sure that is the case as I really don't know different woods. It has two drawers and leaves at either side that can be folded up and down. It is 271/2 inches high and 62 1/2 inches long(when both leaves are extended) and about 38 inches long(when the leaves are folded down) Local pick up only!
