Antique Hand Drawn Thread work and Embroidery Cotton BED SHEET FRENCH DRAWN WORK 34" Turn Down BONNE NUIT Here is a lovely Antique French cotton bed sheet with lovely hand done drawn thread work trim and embroidery work. The hand done drawn thread work is along the 3 sides of the turn down area. The turn down on the bed sheet is 34" deep. The embroidery work is in the center panel and the embroidery area is 24" x 15" There are also button holes so that you can thread a ribbon through the bed sheet. The flower motif embroidery work has some raised padded stitching around the roses. Drooping flowers and some of the leaves. The words BONNE NUIT(Good Night) are also done in a padded stitch. The floral motif embroidery work looks to be some machine work embroidery and some hand embroidery work. Photos 10 and 11 show the reverse ... moreside of the bed sheet's embroidery work. Where you can see the hand stitching with some of the threads"crossing over" in random ways and patterns. This is where the embroidery work done is for anchoring or knotting the work when the embroiderer was starting or finishing off at certain points in the embroidery work. Antique Linen Bed Set Layover with Shams Filet Lace Trim with Embroidery
Absolutely the finest natural linen. This set includes 2 pillow shams and a bed width overlay. The overlay measures 89" x 21 1/2" wide. These are handmade so there is a slight difference in the sham sizing. One measures 22 1/2" x 30" and the other is 23 1/2" x 30" The shams have button enclosures with mother of pearls buttons. Each piece is beautifully embroidered with leaves& flowers and monogramed with double M's. Edging is done with 2 5/8" filet lace. Very fine condition. With the exception of a small storage spot shown in the last photo. The open cut decorative draw work next to the trim was laced with velvet ribbon that unfortunately did not survive washing; but can be replaced with your own choice of ribbon to match your room décor. The family story is that a friend had the bed made by a craftsmen in Tennessee for his bride in the very early1900's. It was shipped by rail to High Point. NC. This solid cherry wood bed is heavy, some old time cut nails were used in the construction of the rails which are 1.5 inches thick. With a limited patent and made in Canada. Only 75 of these were made with the iconic Simmons label. Moving sale. Beautiful antique rope bed in very good condition. With a rich, dark patina. The bed has minor dings& scratches, considering its age. The 3 1/2 inch diameter pegged rails screw& counter screw into the headboard and foot board. Overall dimensions are 75" long, 51" wide, and 6' tall. The posts are 3" by 3" which make the inside dimensions approximately 69" by 45" The headboard hangs in place by hooks and eye screws, and seats into notches on the headboard cross bar. The bed is very solid and stable when assembled, weighing about 127 pounds. Both rails have an age crack running part way along the rail as shown in the photos. One rail is missing three pegs. I have one missing peg loose, that can be used as a template to make the other two pegs. This beautiful antique furniture piece has been handed down through the seller’s family and is not a reproduction. Originally owned by great grandparents who lived in a log cabin. This piece was inherited by the seller’s family who remember seeing it in the cabin prior to 65 years ago. No one in the family knows the date it was originally acquired by the great grandparents. This wonderful piece is reminiscent of a mirrored wardrobe when positioned and makes a great addition to a guest room because of its space saving style with a hidden bed inside! Folding beds were advertised in Montgomery Ward catalogues prior to 1900. The cabinet measures 78” tall. 58” wide and 27” deep when closed, 80” deep when open. It has a removable mesh/spring support for a mattress(mattress not included) mattress opening measures 50” x 74” A sofa mattress 48” x ... more72” may be a good choice to allow room for linens. This is a well made and sturdy free-standing piece that moves easily on its metal casters. It does not need attachment to a wall because of its counterweights explained below. Included are the 10 removable original cast iron counterweights on the back that allow the bed to raise and lower almost effortlessly with a slide mechanism. As the front of the bed is lowered. The counterweights allow the lower portion of the headboard to butt to the upper section resulting in a 72” high headboard. These weights(12 lbs 10.8 oz. each) are easily accessible and lift out to diminish the weight of the piece which allows ease of movement to a new location. The gorgeous oak cabinet has not been refinished but has some water staining from plants placed on top in times past(see photos—this area becomes the footboard and is not visible when the unit is closed) It appears that the handles to open the cabinet(one on each side) may have been moved slightly or replaced as there are two empty screw holes by each handle. This bed has been the property of a single family for many generations. It is quite the amazing piece as even the white paint is all original to the date of manufacture. There is one noticeable bend in the thin iron of the foot-board. As you can see in the photos. I am positive that it would take no more than a strong arm to bend it back into shape. I can't find any more defects on the piece. But it is being sold as-is with no warranty due sole to the age of the bed. The hand done drawn thread work is along the 3 sides of the turn down area. The turn down on the bed sheet is 34" deep. The embroidery work is in the center panel and the embroidery area is 24" x 15" There are also button holes so that you can thread a ribbon through the bed sheet. The flower motif embroidery work has some raised padded stitching around the roses. Drooping flowers and some of the leaves. The words BONNE NUIT(Good Night) are also done in a padded stitch. The floral motif embroidery work looks to be some machine work embroidery and some hand embroidery work. Photos 10 and 11 show the ... morereverse side of the bed sheet's embroidery work. Where you can see the hand stitching with some of the threads"crossing over" in random ways and patterns. This is where the embroidery work done is for anchoring or knotting the work when the embroiderer was starting or finishing off at certain points in the embroidery work. Antique Victorian Eastlake wood bed and custom mattress - Turn of the century
This is an Eastlake wooden bed from the turn of the century in the original finish. It has been in my family since purchased. It has nice incise carvings and burl accents. The bed is in good condition and includes the original headboard. Footboard, and attaching side rails. It is a 3/4 size bed, so it is slightly smaller than a full size bed so I had a custom mattress made for it but full size sheets fit it fine. The custom made mattress and bunky board are in excellent condition(only slept on twice) The bed measures- 53" wide x 75.5" long. The headboard is 55" high at the tallest part and the footboard is 29" tall. The mattress measures approximately 51"x70"

Antique Scalloped Cast Iron Twin Bed
Beautiful antique iron twin bed painted in white with gently scalloped head& foot boards. Exploding iron twirls and fleu de lis caps. Little or no rust on the head and foot boards. The iron railings slip easily into cutouts on each end. The railings have some rust, but this is easily removed. I have only taken one picture of the bedframe b/c it's been raining here all weekend! Many times the delicate iron twirls on these early beds are bent from age& wear through the years, but the iron twirls on this bed are in perfect shape. On two sides are the beautifully embroidered initials( L P' ... moreof the bride for whom this bed cover was made.though it very well may have been the young woman herself who fashioned this wonderful thing.a labour of love for her eventual marriage. But what is truly remarkable about this coverlet is its huge size. Not counting the lace border. This coverlet measures 92 inches(width of bed with initials on each side) by 104 inches(head to foot of bed) with the lace adding another 4 1/2 inches to all four sides. The lace edging this fine coverlet is hand crocheted and gives a wonderful finish. It is extraordinarily unusual for the lace to go around a coverlet on all four sides.usually the top edge is left plain. This beautiful coverlet is in excellent antique condition with no stains. ANTIQUE 1790 PENNSYLVANIA BABY ROCKING CRADLE PEGGED CHAMFERED DOLL BEAR BED
This is a wonderful COLONIAL ANTIQUE 1790'S PINE AND WALNUT BABY CRADLE THAT IS HANDCRAFTED WITH MORTISE AND TENONS. PEGS, AND HAND CARVED CANNON BALLS ON HEAD AND FOOT BOARDS. Fully pegged corner construction with mortised and tendons on the ends of the rockers. There are two on each rocker but I did not show the entire rocker and you can only see one on each end. Still retains the Rare Brass Rope Studs. One might have been replaced as it is larger. All the panels are chamfered on inside and out. Really nice contraction. The cradle is extremely sturdy. This cradle is a true work of art from the carved hearts on the head and footboards to the excellent construction. This would be a family heirloom to pass on to future generations or a perfect display for that special doll or bear. Historical Note; Colonial Babies were tied-down in these ... morecradles. As an act of protective necessity. Mothers would Rock the Baby to sleep with a foot against one of the protruding Rocker Rails, then continue their household work knowing that the baby would not be roaming around when awakened. Condition: The cradle is made of pine and walnut. I believe. It is used with wear on the inside chamfered panels and the ball finials show wear. The pegs on the inside holding the mattress supports have been replaced with hand made screws(they are off center) One of the brass rope supports is broken and needs to be secured better. One of the brass rope support matches the other but is a bit larger than the others. There is a crack in the very vertical walnut support. it does in no way hamper the use of the cradle but it is there. It might just be a dry crack. Please, see photo. Measures: 40 1/2 inches in Length. 30 inches Wide at the Rockers, and 22 1/2 inches High at the Headboard. The bed is 16" wide at the top and 39" long. Karpen Antique Single Bed and Dresser and mattress, from early 1900's
This is a gorgeous piece of antique furniture. I purchased it in the early 70's and it has been with me in my guest bedroom. With my doll collection, all these years. It has probably been slept in 10 times as my other guest bedroom has a king size bed. But the family has grown and our 5 year reunions are at our house. So we have decided to sell this set and put in another king bed. It is in excellent condition, no broken legs, all original hardware,all original wood, beautiful painted flowers on the dresser and foot of the bed. Antique Henry Steul Bed
Very rare and collectible Henry steul bed this bed is believed to be crafted before he joined with his brother and before the company became steul& thurman so circa 1883 to 1888 it is the 66 th bed that was made by Henry. It is Spanish oak and mohagony the mohagony inlay is impeccable as he would take an already very delicate wood and perfectly cut it in half so that each side of the bed would reflect the other half it was said to bring the couple closer together. It is however not in perfect shape and would need restoration but I would implore you not to touch the mohagony as it would affect the value only sand and re stain the oak. Antique chinoiserie papier mache go to bed Excellent Condition A lovely old'Go to bed' or Match-safe. Probably Victorian. It stands 3.25" high x 2.5" in diameter across the base. The lid fits well, and the design of two oriental gentlemen in a beautiful garden is in pretty good order(it doesn't show up well in the picture but a bit of waxing will probably enhance the copper coloured lacquer against the black) There is minor wear around the rim of the base.
