SUPERB VINTAGE OR ANTIQUE CHINESE SILVER BRACELET -SIGNED with 5 marks-STERLING?
Loads of photos below- I wanted you to see how very special this stunning early bracelet is! I sold this piece some months ago on ebay(the high bidder was in China) It came back to me stamped as not having been picked up from the post office(I'm assuming that the purchaser didn't want to pay the duty/customs charges) So the buyer's money was refunded and back on ebay it goes- needless to say. I no longer ship to China. It's a superb, highly detailed piece, signed on the interior in areas(a total of 5 hallmarks) Quite hefty for such a thin piece, it weighs 23 grams. As you can see from the photos, there is some bending to the metal, not visible on the outside, one darkened are on the interior and age related wear to the metal. I'm not sure of the silver content- it does look like sterling to me, but I'm hoping one of ... morethe marks on the interior will give some indication to those who can read Chinese. There is a genuine carlved calmon coral rose in the center. Adorned with another small coral cab and ruby red cut past stones. Not signed. The sterling silver contents were tested. The front pannel is adorned with two rows of oval hand cut paste stones in amethyst and blue topaz color. Really nice and genuinely old. It is in wonderful condition with no losses or breaks. Absolutely Stunning VERY Ornate True Antique Late 1800's Victorian Sterling Silver Chinese Export Link Bracelet With a Large Crysoprase Cabochon in the Center! This bracelet was made in China circa 1880 for export to Europe or England. It is made of English silver coins that were melted and pounded. Unlike U.S. coin silver" that is.900 silver. English coins were.925, which is why English pounds of this era were also called"Pounds Sterling. So yes, this is true Sterling Silver. And as explained below, it did test as such. The links are VERY thin, as was typical for silver export jewelry of this era. Chinese silversmiths of this time were some of the best the world has ever seen and this bracelet is ALL handmade! Yes. ALL! Someone must have gone half blind making this! Repousse(pressed from the reverse) pieces are very finely ... moreapplied, with extraordinarily fine twisted silver wire applied in filigree patterns of swirls, leaves, curls, and flourishes on top of them. Filigree is not always open-work. By the way. This is the more solid version. Chrysoprase is often mistaken for jade. It is really a very rare form of quartz that has been coveted since ancient times. The Egyptian Pharoahs. The Greeks, the Romans and the Churches of the Middle Ages all prized it for adornment. This is a magnificent and very old Chinese Sterling Silver Repousse and Bamboo Double Band Bangle Cuff Bracelet. Two sterling bands with beautiful repousse work of lotus flowers and other decorative geometric and floral inspired details wrap around two bamboo bands with nice aged patinas. With additional sterling details of a Foo Dog or Dragon face on either side. There is even a delicate sterling rope detail between the two bamboo bands in the back. I'm guessing the bracelet dates around the turn of the century. There is a little waviness but can easily be manipulated back to being perfect. This is a magnificent Vintage/Antique Chinese Sterling Silver Gilt Carved Carnelian Filigree Bracelet. There are three. Large, hand-carved rich Carnelian stones in Buddha likenesses, each one slightly different and surrounded by beautifully raised and intricate filigree work. The bracelet measures 7" length and it is just under 1 3/4" in width and it weighs a very substantial 86 grams. It's stamped"Silver" under the clasp, but I also had my jeweler test this and it is sterling under the gold gilt. There is a Cabochon set Coral stone in the center with a Turquoise Cabochon set stone on each side. All are surrounded by intricate filigree Etruscan details. The front is 1 1/4" wide and it is 1/2" wide at the ends. The inside measures 2 1/2" side to side and 2" front to back with a 1 1/4" opening in back. It weighs 40.5 grams.
