For auction is this wonderful Vintage DEDHAM POTTERY THE POTTING SHED Rabbit Design Covered Casserole. Tureen or Bean Pot with Side Handles. It is one of the larger Dedham pieces standing approximately 8" high to the top of the finial when the lid is on. With a top diameter of 8" an opening of 6" and measures approximately 11" handle to handle. The eminently usable pot is in the traditional creamy gray pottery with cobalt blue crackle finish with hand painted details. It features the classic crouching rabbit design in a hand painted 1 1/2" horizontal band around the middle of the pot and a different but complimentary design around the outside band of the lid. The bottom is marked with the artist's initials, a star for the Starr family who own The Potting Shed in Concord, MA, and the date and place of production. ... moreSee photo 12. The condition of the pot is very good: no chips or cracks, just some light age crazing commonly found on pottery of this type. The crazing, which does not affect the usability of the casserole, is well concealed by the traditional cobalt blue crackle finish. Additionally, there two tiny pin sized holes in the lid top(glaze pops? most likely from the manufacturing process(See photo 4) This charming hand detailed covered casserole/tureen/bean pot, in the timeless rabbit pattern, is not commonly found and would make a super addition to a set of Dedham dishware or a gift for someone special. There's a replacement screw poking up though the top at one of the brackets and there are dents and dings. It originally had small hooks underneath that have since been broken off. NZL Wool Brokers Shearing Tally Book. This is an original promotional sheep shearing shed weight booklet. This has not been used but does have vertical folding and shows wear. Publisher: New Zealand Loan& Mercantile Agency Company Ltd. Melbourne, Australia. Printed in Australia. In English language. Date: Not dated. I am guessing this is from about the 1940's or 1950's. 20 pages(plus covers) This measures about 141 mm x 220 mm(about 5.5" x 8.75" This has advertising of NZL services inside the covers and on the back cover. The inside pages are all for keeping notes, with the left page covering the Bale number, description of wool, and weight columns, the right pages have provision for general notes on the description of sheep and remarks on condition of wool. No writing. Condition: This has firm folds down the middle ... moreto mid right making the book feel a bit soft. Covers show some wear with moisture marks and spots etc(with more wear to the back) a tear into the mid right edge of the front cover, bumping to the corners with creasing to the lower right corner, inside shows a little paper rippling and edge moisture marks but is quite presentable, fair condition only. Please view my other auctions this week for some more sheep shearing and wool ephemera that came from an old farm clean up. Lots can be combined to reduce postage costs.
