Medieval/gothic oak carved tracery panels: part of 15th/16th century screen
These seven portions of an incomplete medieval carved oak tracery screen date from the late 15th/ 16th century and exhibit the skill of the carver to great effect. The screen is'blind' in that only one side is carved. The other side being flat and probably originally laid over panelling. The paired arches are moulded and bear cusps at their heads with finely carved and delicate protruding florets. Each pair of joined arches is surmounted by a roughly diamond-shaped floral carving. The base of each arch bears a central upright miniature'poppy-head' as seen on church bench-ends, especially in East Anglia. The widened base of each'poppy-head' encloses a carved flower surrounded by foliage. The oak has a rich patina acquired over many years: the backs of the pieces have that grey tone of age. Please see the pictures to ... moreget a better idea of the quality of these pieces. The sections are shown as they appear on my wall. With gaps allowing for any obvious missing sections. As the sections rest on a wooden ledge, the oak has not been damaged in any way; small brackets have been used to hold pieces against the wall. On the reverse, occasional use has been made of Blu-tak to help temporary attachment to the wall. I will number the pieces to allow easy assemblage. The whole'run' of pieces measures 1metre 20cm. With a maximum height of 59cm. The'poppy-heads' are 21cm high. The round pegs used by the carver to join sections are visible in places and the individual sections are, of course, quite fragile. Nevertheless, this tracery has been on the wall for 15 years without mishap and should last for many more years. A difficult thing to pack. I have estimated postage costs. GOTHIC! architectural pieces. Salvaged in the 1970s from the St Agnes convent in Fond Du Lac WI. Dates to late 1800s. free shipping for any nuns! Striking, quarter sawn oak construction with nice tiger stripe patina. This would be off the charts expensive to have custom made today in mill shop. It has the classic, gothic, arch design& deep bevelling. To say this is high quality, is an understatement. Middle pediment with ornate carved medallions at each end measures 46 1/2 inches by 4 inches. That piece alone is enough reason to bid. The rest is gravy! The matching pair of narrow arches measures 28 1/2 inches by 2 1/4 inches. The small, matching, arched panels measure approx 7 7/8 by 5 inches. Antique Tudor Revival Medieval Gothic Deco Nouveau Moe-Bridges Style Chandelier
This is an antique chandelier light fixture with five lights. It came out of a victorian home and was probably a replacement when the gaslights were taken out. It looks like a Moe-Bridges light fixture but I am not sure because I can't find any marks on it. It has been professionally rewired and works great. It is heavy and made of brass and painted metal. It has red. Green and gold colors in the decoration. There are some chips on some of the painted areas especially the finial that hangs down on the bottom of the fixture. I didn't want to change or alter the finish at all so I left it as is. I hung the fixture on a ladder to photograph it hanging but I am sure it would look much better hanging from the ceiling in your home. This is an amazing chandelier with the original finish, which is mostly a silver to gray nickel with gold. Notice the twisted spike that hangs down through the center. The cast bronze socket bobeches are threaded to screw on to the sockets, and appear to have a patent date of 1909. Please note that this fixture needs rewiring, and could use a cleaning. It is in great condition with only a tad bit ofsurface rust on the front(hardly noticeable) I would think that this surface rust could beremoved without much fuss. On the back it has engraved very finely"Madein France. It also has other very small marking which I can not make out! It also has a circle on the back center where themakers mark would usually go! Antique Hammered Mission Gothic Chandelier Nice Patina Gothic Arts Crafts
This is for an Antique/Vintage Hammered Aluminum Mission/Gothic/Tudor/Arts&Crafts Chandelier. Just as found at a local estate. Overall, it is in very good condition without any cracks, chips or repairs. The patina is very nice.but a shade darker than the flash pictures display. Each socket has a glass"hobnail" base. All glass hobnail trim is solid and unbroken. The chandelier weighs between 6 and 7 lbs. There is a flat black ceiling cover that does not appear to be original to the chandelier. The wiring is fairly good, however the hardwires were taped to a plug, so the lamp could be moved from place to place. I would probably rewire this unit, but it does work as is. Unique Old Hanging Light Fixtures From Church? Gothic / Steampunk
Hello Folks. Today I have some very unusual and unique light fixtures to bring to you. Purchased at an estate sale, I was told they came out of a restaurant, but I do believe they had a life prior to that, since they are very, very old; I think they may have come from an old church or publc building like a train station. I believe they were hung from the ceiling, quite an architectural find; very old and unique. Their style is up for interpretation maybe Spanish? Gothic? Italian? I don't know for sure. Though they are old pieces I believe they could be restored to their original glory if someone was so inclined to put the time and energy into restoring them. They look exactly alike except their height varies. The tallest one measures 53" and the shorter one 46" They are all heavy metal construction with ornate decoration, please ... moresee all pics. I believe they once had glass inserts, but since plastic, but even some of those are missing. They look like they have been stored away for quite some time since their last use; they are dirty and have some rust on some areas as well. An antique 17th century carved Gothic revival trestle chair with curved seat and Griffins. I believe this chair was made between 1650 and 1750. The wood appears to be walnut. It was made completely without fasteners. It has been recently recoated. Size: 34" tall. 24" wide and 22" deep. Condition: very solid. No loose joints at all, recently recoated, there is evidence that there was a finial on top of the chair back, the right arm has 2 gouges on the inner side and some tiny worm holes, the right legs and stretchers have many tiny worm holes, there is a repair on the bottom right stretcher and some filler material, the gap at the center where trestle and seat frame come together has some filler added(front and back) there is a tiny crack and chip in the left arm, a fine crack in the upper left stretcher, the face at the center ... morefront has two tiny finish nails added. Vintage Mediterranean Swag Hanging Ceiling Light Fixture Lamp Gothic Mid Century
Here is an excellent example of a mid century Mediterranean style hanging lamp. This lamp is mostly made from wood with gold velvet overlay. It is in very good condition and works like it should. There is a pull chain switch(3 WAY) and a 13 foot chain with 15 foot cord. It measures about 24” tall and 10” in diameter. Please see photos for condition and content. Double Castor/Cruet Frame/stand MERIDEN B COMPANY gothic design
You are bidding on an old DOUBLE PICKLE CASTOR STAND. In excellent shape, looks like it was replated! It is about 8 inches wide by 11 inches high, holds cruets about 3 1/4 inches in diameter, maybe less. There are 4 ornate feet, has a woman's head stamped on the front and back of the middle section and Roman's heads on the handle, plus It looks like it will shine up. There is a stamp MERIDEN B COMPANY, with the double ax logo, and 30 under the base, indicating that is was made in the late 1900's. The only flaw that I did see was the hook for the cruet tongs, it looks like it is missing part of the end of the original hook. Antique Chair Gothic Style, Interesting Provenance, Needs Restoration
This chair was used Christmas time by the Hahne's Company of Newark NJ for their yearly Santa celebration from the late 30's until the store closed sometime in the 80's. While I have no pictures of kids sitting on Santa's lap from Hahne's. I am sure there are some out there who can provide such a photo. Discovered in a storage unit in NJ. This chair was purchased in the 30's by the creative director of the store from an antique shop in Pennsylvania, and is a mid 1800's reproduction of a Gothic chair,or some similar style. sorry I am not an expert. It is in need of restoration but is 99% complete. the underside of the lid. As shown, is a new repair, otherwise complete and original. It is, sadly missing the front left claw foot.
