There are a few minor bumps and scrapes as shown in the pics. The very top has some light"surface" graffiti. See pics. I say surface because they are not deep and could be removed with light sanding. Probably some naughty church boys from the past. The average person cannot see the top when standing in front of the piece. I am 6' 2" and I cannot see these marks without standing on a stool. I believe there may have originally been two additional carvings on the two vertical boards toward the back on each side. I can't say for sure. But there be appears to be some light wear in these locations. The piece is signed in the back I believe M.I. Belgium B.G.E. The only reference I could find to this signature is MI Belgium Ministre which published some religious books. The front opens and the back is on hinges so both sides open. From auction records. This very unique and Gothic style antique chair was found hidden all the way in the back of my floorless attic amongst many other strange and old treasures. Wish I could say more about it's history. But unfortunately the only thing I know is that this chair is pretty mysterious. It's a beautiful piece overall, and in bright lights, a gold-ish color shines in the brown wood. This auction is for an amazing Arts n Crafts period inkwell made of hand hammered copper and brass. With original hinged lid and fitted glass insert. The item consists of three separate parts, including an undertray, the domed and lidded well cover, and the glass insert. The tray measures 6 inches square with curled edges and four dimple feet. The original patina can be best seen on this piece. The fitted circle where the glass insert sits, as well as the area where the domed cover sits, are shinier than the area that was not covered, showing how much oxidation has occurred over the years. The glass insert measures 2-5/8 inches in diameter, and is ... more2-1/4 inches tall. The bottom has a ground circular foot. There is a shallow flake off the edge of the foot. The inkwell cover measures 4-1/8 inches tall and is 3-7/8 inches in diameter at the base. It has a hinged ball lid. The hinge is connected with a thin piece of wire. All of the finishing nails in this piece are hand hammered copper. In fact, the entire piece is hand hammered. It is in excellent condition, with a fabulous patina. It measures 45.25 inches tall by 8.25 inches square at the base and 6.5 inches square at the shaft. Overall it is in decent condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. Unmarked, back is a painted off white color. Everything appears original. Was built in to a dining room corner so the base has nail holes from the applied floor trim. Here is an attractive antique Victorian or Edwardian small box. Possibly in beech or satinwood, with a hand painted shield to the lid. The box has a lift off lid which fits well. And has an attractive burr pattern in the wood to the back of the box. I have not yet been able to identify the shield. But it has two keys and a sword against a red background on one side and three tudor roses and and two chevrons on the other part of the shield. This may have been made as a small cigarette box. As it has a curved base inside to aid in removing the contents, but would, of course, also hold jewellery or other small items. It is in generally good condition. With with a small light surface flaw to the rear of the lid- can be seen at the top right in the final photograph, but it does not extens through the wood and doesn't affect the rigidity or ... morefunction of the box. One of the nicest panels I have ever sold! May have been made by the famous furniture maker R.J. Horner. But not certain. Circa, 100+ years old. Wood appears to be walnut. It has a wonderfully framed, bevelled, center recessed panel. Inside has dramatically 3 dimensional carvings. Middle head appears to be a roaring lion with mythical griffins to the left and right. The gothic style heavy(approx. 2 3/4 lb. bronze door plate is ready to be used with any fitting lock and doorknob. It has a light patina which we have purposely left as is since some people prefer it this way. It is approx. 14" in height, 3" in width, and stands out from the door approx. 1/2" The lock hole is approx. 4 inches from doorknob base(center to center. There are 4 holes for mounting. As can be seen, this was designed primarily as an outside escutcheon.

This spectacular 1870s-80s smaller centerpiece stand measures7” tall x 9 ¼” across the top x 5” diameter base and boasts a 3 ½” full round seated female greyhound or whippet in the center framed by 3 gothic columns. The base is decorated with embossed dog portrait cameos/roundels alternating with naturalistic fruit and leaves and the top boasts a lacey gothic open work border trimmed with delicate little ball pendants. It is signed on the bottom. REED& BARTON and has very fine plate overall with some spots of tarnish, old polish residue and some polishing scratches.
