1900's Antique Tin Ceiling Tile 24" x 24" Painted Antique White
This listing is for one antique 24" x 24" tin ceiling tile. This tile was removed from an old bank building in Escanaba. Michigan and dates back to the early 1900's. It has been professionally stripped, all the old lead paint removed, and repainted antique white around 10 years ago. It was painted with three coats of Sherwin Williams metal latex paint. This tile is in very good vintage condition. It does show a few scuffs. Scratches and dents around the mounting holes and some residue rust on the back of the tile from the stripping process. It measures 24" x 24" and has a fleur-de-lis border with a"pebbled" center. The center measures 16" x 16" I do have more of these tiles available in similiar condition. Over 100 year old Griffin Mythological Tin (Metal) Ceiling Tile 48" x 18"
Buy It Now and get FREE Shipping! I took down my last tins of this type. After this I will only have 3 griffin tins left. It's got a few nail holes where it was nailed up. In picture 5 there are a few more holes where a phone cable was nailed. Its got some rust here and there but not rusted through. Old paint is flaked off in a spots. It weighs apx 5 lbs. Tile is being removed from a 100 year old bank in Black Rock. Ar. Pictures are of actual item you are bidding on. June 16.1933 this bank was robbed by some guys that broke out of prison in May of 1933 in Lansing Kansas. When they broke out they took the warden hostage. I believe the robbers were Wilbur Underhill, Harvey Bailey, Jim Clark, Ed Davis. They took around $6,200.00 which cleaned the bank out. They also took the bank teller which was the only employee working at the time. The ... moreday after the bank got robbed June 17,1933 was the Kansas City Massacre. Our bank robbers were being sought after for the KCM. So they typed a letter to the G-MEN stating that they robbed a bank on the 16th in Black Rock, Arkansas and that there was no way they could have been in KC on the 17th. Charles Pretty Boy Floyd was later found to be the one who performed the KC job which killed some G-Men and Frank Jelly Nash which the Gmen were trying to deliver to court. Going back to the bank robbers Wilber was shot during a raid on his cottage on Jan 1. 1934 in Shawnee Ok, They shot him all up and captured him several hours latter in the back of a furniture store. He died in prison about 6 days after his capture. The others were captured and some spent time in Alcatraz.
