These shelves were previously owned by a retired judge for Mercer county. This vintage bookcase is in excellent condition- all shelves have the original glass(wavy from time) original knobs, and all labels are present. The metal side bands are all present and genuine with no rust, and have not had the original patina polished away as some have. The oak wood shows an all original finish with a wonderfully rich coloring- it has not been refinished, or retouched in any way. It has all of the qualities and markings that make it a most desirable piece. If you've been looking for an original antique barrister bookcase, you'll recognize this as a pristine example- you won't find anything better. It measures 50” high, ... more34-1/2” wide and 11-1/2” deep. The shelves measure 14”, 12”, and 10” high inside. According to the labels, they are pattern #’s 709, 711, and 713 and are all “Grade 3298-1/2”. Great vintage condition, as shown, with minor scuffs from use. A couple minor chips on the veneer on the right side and a couple rings on top. I wiped it down with mineral spirits, but there’s a century’s worth of wax on it, so could use a good cleaning. Due to size and how fragile these are, I’m listing it for local pickup only, sorry. I always have several cases and dozens of sections, so the buyer will have the opportunity to add to or customize on pickup.

Condition: Used Location: Olathe, United States This is a great carved quartered oak barrister bookcase. Sometimes called a lawyers bookcase or stacking bookcase. This outstanding stacking desk bookcase ... moreis one of the nicest we have ever seen. It has leaded glass windows in the top two sections below the molded top. The carved fall board has a key that opens or locks the desk section. Inside are two strong desk lid supports and a nice set of pigeon holes with a single pencil drawer-fitted interior. The desk section sits above two full width drawers. The top drawer is shaped to fit the curve. The second drawer is carved to accent the fall board. Both drawers have original brass handles. The lowest section is an extra tall one with a"blind" door or wood paneled door to prevent breakage from feet. The entire piece sits on a molded base section. Quartersawn oak is showcased through the entire piece which is in excellent condition. I believe this case was made by the Viking Company. Overall dimensions are 34 wide, 15 deep, and 69 high. Although we have sold hundreds of interesting barrister bookcases over the years, we have never seen this model before. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. This set was actually in a Lawyer's office, just like you see it. Lycoming was a division of Globe Wernicke and I believe that these are all Lycoming sections. They will fit each other perfectly well, so you could add to your existing bookcase. This four section set measures 59 inches tall by 33 inches wide by 13 inches deep. The inside of the bookcase sections measure approximately 31 1/2 inches wide by 12 inches tall. The over all condition is pretty decent with some expected wear from age and use. I do see that one of the little brass knobs to open the one door is missing. All in all, this Barrister bookcase set was well cared for ... moreover the past 90 or so years. Has metal brackets at each end. These measurements are exact and they are: Wide- 34" x 10 1/2" Deep x 3 1/8" Tall. I took these pictures in both the shade and full sun so you could see both the finish and patina. Unfortunately the Globe Wernicke paper label is missing but I know for a fact this is a Globe Wernicke top and I will stand behind that 100% If you know the number and finish please let me know and I'll post the information so everyone can see. 34" wide. 69" tall, 12" deep. Three 10" tall D-8 1/2 sections, Two 12" tall D- 10 1/4 sections base and top. This is a completley original barrister fully sanded and refinished. Original brass side straps and handles polished and clear coated so will not tarnish. All original wavy glass. Only flaw is a burn spot on top. I did not replace the veerner becuse wanted to keep the originial quarter sawn and can't see anyway due to height of bookcase. No shipping pick up only. Located 20 miles west of Kalamazoo Mi. The finish is in need of some restoration but the wood and metal straps are all in good condition, and the oak has some fantastic quarter sawn graining. THREE SECTION BARRISTER BOOKCASE WITH DRAWER BASE IN SOLID TIGER OAK With our compliments we are delighted to offer you this three section Barrister bookcase. The top 2 section have old wavy glass in wonderful condition with no chips or cracks. The slide mechanism for the glass door on the middle section is missing, the base or bottom section is a Unique, Rare, Very desirable 4 drawer base. Its a nice clean high quality Barrister that measures 34" long, 12 1/2" wide(deep) and stands 48" tall. I have not found any makers marks or stamps but believe this to be a highly desirable Macy/ Globe-Wernicke bookcase made in the early 1900"s. I am no expert on antique furniture but do my best to describe the item. ANTIQUE OAK 4 SECTION GLASS BARRISTER BOOKCASE GLOBE-WERNICKE STYLE WITH DROP FRONT SECRETARY This auction is for a gorgeous oak 4-section glass barrister bookcase with drop front secretary. We date this bookcase to the early 1900’s as the barrister door mechanism is marked 1908(see photo) This bookcase is very similar to Globe-Wernicke style bookcases. But cannot find any label identifying the manufacturer. This bookcase is constructed entirely of smooth. Beautiful oak. It features 3 glass doors on the front of each section; the glass is intact with no cracks or problems to mar their beauty. The glass doors flip up and open/close smoothly. The finish is smooth and is not scratched. In fact. There are no surface blemishes, nicks, or scratches of any sort on the surfaces. This bookcase comes apart into 6 components: a decorative top. 3 separate glass bookcase sections, folding secretary section with cubby’s for storage and pedestal bottom, making it easy to move and transport. See photo of unit disassembled) The bookcase’s overall measurements are 57 inches tall x 34 inches wide by 11 inches deep(except the depth of the secretary is 14 inches at the widest point on the curve) The base is 5¼” tall x 34” wide x 11” deep. The bottom 2 bookcase units measure 11¼” tall x 34” wide x 11” deep. The secretary is 13¼” tall x 34” wide x 14” deep at the widest point of the curve. The top bookcase unit measure 13¼” tall x 34” wide x 11” deep. The curved top is 3” tall x 34” wide x 11” deep. The finish is golden oak with a satin(low-gloss) finish. It has had 3 pieces of glass installed recently! The wood strips that hold the glass in has been pieced together. Needs new wood strips to make it original! There are four units as well as a top and base. The units measure: 2 are 8-1/4 inches tall, one is 10-1/4 inches tall and one is 12-1/4 inches tall. Offering here an antique Globe Wernicke Sectional Bookcase Top. Marked pattern 141. Grade 299 1/2. Measures 34" long, the metal bands on the sides measure 11 1/2" long.
