This is an old Rosary. All the beads are present. The Crucifix is done in the pectoral-style and is lightweight silver-tone metal with some sort of black inlay(I do not believe it to be wood) With a silver-tone Corpus. Centerpiece is manifestly very old and displays an image of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel on one side and Our Lord with His Sacred Heart on the other. Beads are black wood. This unique piece was found among other antique religious items cherished for many decades in the Buffalo. NY region. The centerpiece shows the true age of the rosary and probably dates to the 1800's. The cross is not original. You may change the cross to something more appropriate if you wish. Condition: Overall the original pieces are in great condition. The ebony wood seems a little dry but this could be from age. Magnificent Antique Bloodstone Rosary Huge Gemstone Beads& Hallmarked Silver 19th Century ~ from France 82 Grams! This fabulous 19th century rosary has gorgeous beads of genuine bloodstone. A deep green gemstone speckled with vibrant red spots. It's complete and original, with 59 huge(8-15 mm) hand-cut and polished round beads. It's very rare to find these rosaries in the larger sizes, much less with a matching bloodstone crucifix. ● Fine French rosary made circa 1850-1880 ● Has rare matching crucifix carved from bloodstone. With silver corpus, backing plate& INRI scroll ● All the pater beads have fancy openwork silver caps(all matching. And bloodstone therefore held special powers. It's known as the Gemstone of Martyrs. It was very popular in Victorian-era jewelry. I photographed this wonderful devotional in both artificial and natural light. To give you a better idea of how rich the bead color is. In one photo it's shown with a quarter, for scale(quarter is not included) Condition issues: ● The cross is cracked just below the crossbar. See the last photo. The crack is hidden by the corpus& backing plate. The cross is held in place by the silver backing and rivets. And not in danger of falling apart with respectful use. ● The connector is"puff" style. They are fairly lightweight material with natural inclusions. And appear to be hand carved rather than molded, with slightly varying sizes and shapes. For that reason I've concluded the following: ● The black ave beads are horn(from domestic livestock) Natural in color(the color goes all the way through) They're not heavy enough to be stone or gutta percha, and too early to be Bakelite. ● The blue pater beads are either real gemstone material such as lapis or sodalite. Or horn dyed to mimic them. One has a chip at the hole where it appears the blue color isn't just an applied surface coating. But when I say"lightweight. don't let that fool you. This is a very high-quality devotional, well made by expert artisans and well cared for over the decades. About all the metal: The crucifix. Connector, and sturdy chain have no hallmarks and I haven't tested them, but they may be silver(probably low grade) There's no corrosion or plate wear, so they're solid metal, and not steel or plated. Antique Ornate Glass Rosary w Filigree Crucifix & Mysteries on Center Medal
This beautiful rosary appears to be very old. The center medal has the Mysteries of the rosary and what days of the week to say them. They slide out from behind the medal. The Pater beads are capped with filigree also, some tarnish on them and the chain, I didn't attempt to polish.No damage to the glass beads, truly a lovely rosary. It is 22 inches long.

This is a wonderful old antique Rosary. Mother of pearl beads. Blue enamel, patinaed golden metal, white& blue enamel crucifix. It realy is stunning and extremely well made. On the back of the crucifix it is signed Lourdes. I have shown both sides in the photos. The crucifix is 1 1/2" long and 15/16" wide. The drop is just under 7" long. The neck opening is 28" long. 1830 antique rosary center, crucifix and st francis medal
Up for auction! A beautiful antique Catholic rosary crucifix. Rosary center and a St Francis medal! The crucifix is an ebony inlay. Outer brass exterior. If you look at the feet of Jesus, there are(2) nails, one in each foot. This is how the crucifix can be dated to 1830 or earlier. This crucifix is 2 1/4" long without the bail. The center piece is rare! If you look at Mary. She is facing down, or on the rosary, facing the crucifix! This changed around 1850! The center piece is 3/4" by 3/4" The St Francis medal is 3/4" by 1/2" Notice the skull! This is the"momento mori or"remember that you are human" Very popular in the 1800's& before!
