Antique Stieler's Hand Atlas map of the South Pole dated 1869 and published in the 1871 Hand Atlas. Other than a small water stain at the bottom center edge of border and minor discoloration around border the map is in good condition with no tears. Holes, stains, marks, or other defects. Measurements are 16" x 13 1/2" excluding border. Total size is 18" x 15 1/2" This map is hand painted and provides detailed information on items like exploration routes from cook in 1772 to moore in 1845, ice packs, icebergs, sea lanes, etc. A lot of info on this map can be found if Stieler's Hand Atlas No. 42a is entered into a search bar. Description: This is the U.S. Geological Survey’s stunning full color geologic map of the Moon’s fascinating and mysterious Aristarchus region. Deep in the dark expanse of the Ocean of Storms(Oceanus Procellarum' Sits Aristarchus Plateau, pocked by Aristarchus Crater, the brightest large formation on the moon, visible to the naked eye on the northwest(or upper left) of the Moon's near side. This mysterious region is the site of more‘transient lunar phenomena’ than any other on the Moon. Transient lunar phenomena are temporary obscurations, explosions, or color changes on the surface. This auction is for an ORIGINAL(not reproduction) 1960 U.S.G.S. LUNAR RAYS Map of the Moon. It is about 98cm x 144cm. This map was prepared by Robert J. Hackman in 1960 in preparation for the Apollo 11 Lunar Landing Mission. The map represents the near side of the moon. It notes craters. Seas, mountains, and especially, Lunar Rays. This map was created based on photographs taken at Lick Observatory in California. This map is in great condition since it has been rolled up in a tube for years. Never been folded. Some tattering/wear on bottom left corner of map. But no tears or rips. I am an individual(not a map enthusiast company) So don't typically sell maps, however, I have 7 to sell in the series. Importing, gold production, navigation and other economic statistics between the colonies in North and South America and Great Britain and Europe. Also included is one chart relating to the French East India Company. This is an early AUTHENTIC hand-colored Western US map of what I believe is present day Yuma and Tuscon Az extending north toward Phoenix Az. The map is entitled" Reconnaissance of the Zuni. Little Colorado, and Colorado Rivers. Made in 1851 under the direction of Col. JJ Abert, Chief of Corps Topographical Engineers by BVT, Capt L. Sitgreaves, T.E. assisted by Lieut JG Parke, TE and Mr. MH Kern, drawn by RH Kern 1852. The size is an impressive 49" wide x 27" high and if matted and framed would be a nice edition or cornerstone conversation piece, especially for someone living in Arizona who appreciates early western history. Does NOT include any frame. The condition of the map is fair to good considering it's around 160 years old. The map is printed on thin paper(NOT the heavy type canvas backed type paper) and is rather ... morefragile. The buyer would want to quickly get this map in a frame to preserve it. 1911 Steilers Hand - Atlas w/24 Copper Engraved Maps Goth: Justus Perthes
You are bidding on See Atlas/ Steiler's Hand Atlas it is a Antique- USED Book. It has browning due to its age. The HC is slightly worn but still in pretty good shape. There is a brown stain looks like a water or fluid of some sort at top of inside seam starts at map 17 and carries through to map 20 it does not affect the maps. The inside seam on some of maps are starting to separate. The book is a hard cover written in German it is A hand atlas that is a supplement to the Justus Perthes Atlas. It was edited and designed by Hermann Habenicht. It has 24 colored copper engraved maps and is 127 pages containing Nautical Notes& Tables from Erwin Knipping. The book measures 7" X 4" and is about 1/2" thick. There is a signature inside on page 2 in red ink I cannot make it out completely. Please see Photos.
