New York City Circa 1920-40 Item# 130001OTY27 This ... moreis a French Louis XVI Style Antique Writing Table or Desk crafted in solid mahogany and mahogany veneers by Jacques Bodart. Inc. The desk retains the original photograph from when it was retailed by Jacques Bodart, Inc. during the first quarter of the 20th Century, noting this as#1681. It is a gorgeous piece, the original gilt highlighted tooled green leather preserved in remarkable condition, framed in well patinated molded mahogany over five drawers. The desk rests over four tapered and stop-fluted legs with square brass caps over each leg and terminating in plain brass capped feet. Jacques Bodart. Inc. crafted very fine reproductions of Louis XVI 18th and 19th Century antique furniture, marketing these to interior designers and decorators around the country from their showroom in New York City. This is a simply outstanding selection, only more so due to the fine patina and character developed throughout, perfect for home decorators and those passionate about original French designs. Measurements: 55 1/8" wide x 28 1/4" deep x 30" high; wings are 12 3/4" across when fully extended. 21 5/8" deep. Condition Report: Nice patinated and almost certainly original surface. Sunbleached on the front and sides, color well preserved in the back. Very minor dings and abrasions here and there throughout, including minor blemishes and stains to the leather top. No key. Any obvious flaws I mention below. These are vintage and we are not experts; so it's possible we missed something. You get: Shootber marble- yellowish swirl with airbubbles and debris inside. A darkened scrape area on the outside. Measures approx 1" across. blood red and black/brown. And milk white solid colored marble. 2 round defects on side either chip or made that way. Measures approx 5/8" 3 marbles have intential stuff inside which makes them appear glittery in some parts. There is one small solid red. Another unique item from Indelible Curiosities Antique Oak Fraternal Masonic Voting Box With 69 Total Black White Clay Marbles Description: A very interesting antique oak Masonic voting box with two lids fastened with brass hinges. One side for the voter to choose a black or white speckled clay marble representing which way he is voting and the other to hide the results until the voting is finished. A wonderful highly collectible piece. Inside the box through the center are two tin painted slides for the clay marbles to run through. One slide is painted black(for the black marbles) the other white. There are 38 white and 31 black clay marbles. Clay marbles were most commonly produced from the mid 1800s into the early 1900s by which time a way to inexpensively mass produce glass marbles had been invented causing a dramatic decline in popularity ... moreof the clay marble. The marble in the center has the figure of a Frog. There is a small air bubble on the right side and bottom of the figure. It measures approx 1 7/16" 1.449" and is slightly out of round. I have listed these 3(Antique-Vintage) marbles as they are"a piece of history. All of these have met their hey-day so if you are looking for collector marbles. These would not be for you. If you want to show your children or maybe have a classroom discussion about the way old marbles were made, this would be ideal. The marble to the left is an old German hand-made cane marble which are highly collectable. This one has huge cracks, chips on it but you can still tell the intricate detail of the cane inside. I believe the green marble in the middle to be an old German melon ball. It is battered but somewhat whole. The last marble(dark reddish maroon colored) is an M.F.Christenson& Son brick. It has swirls of thin black lines and I believe this producer stopped making marbles around 1917. These are 2 antique handmade German Bennington marbles which I acquired with a large group of clay marbles dating back to the 1890's-1915 era. I am not a marble expert and this is an educated guess. I measured these with a composite digital caliper and the brown Bennington measures approx. 85-89" in diameter depending on which area of the marble you measure. This large Bennington is out of round like most Bennington and has hit marks. A few chips and typical wear for its' age. The blue Bennington measures.65" in diameter. It's in pretty good shape and you can see where the heat of the furnace caused the color to variate. These would be great to add to your marble collection! FYI THE RESERVE ON THIS IS CRAZY LOW. SO DON'T LET THAT DETER YOU! Near Mint. All 60 Marbles. It is a rare find to get one of these original J Pressman boards with all original pieces. You have the originals box with the instructions on it. The original wooden hand nailed board which appears to be like new, the original bag for the marbles and all 60 original marbles. PLUS one of the voting boxes they were all found in, a I.O.O.F. Independent Order of Odd Fellows) an early part of the Freemasons, voting/ ballot box. We purchased three(3) I.O.O.F. ballot boxes dating back to early 1900s from a lodge that was shut down in the 1960s. And we're kept by one of the former members for years, until his death. So we believe these are handmade, date somewhere between 1890-1920s(we believe) and are in very good shape. I believe they are clay, earthenware, ... moreand a few are crockery(blue and colored stripes mixed into the white. and thesis one of those boxes, approximately 6" x 7" x 10" in size. It looks like walnut. Has window inside. Only the marble slot has a small piece damaged, otherwise looks good. You are bidding on item in the pictures. They are all basically the same except 7 were hand blown glass(black) and the other 23 were machine made. And are mostly white. CONDITION: Very good. Just simply need to be cleaned.
