These molds are the only components that are ever re-used in the casting process. All other components are re-created for each casting. The Wax Positive. Once the molds are done. The insides are coated with layers of wax. The halves are then bound together and wax poured inside to complete the wax image being created. Once the wax has cooled. Antique Candelabra Brass Marble Base Late 19th or Early 20th Century
Late 18th or early 19th century candelabra with four candle holders. I believe this was originally part of a garniture set. The base has etched marble with brass stylized feet. There is a crack in the marble on the left side. The top may or may not be original and fits loose. There is some bending on the bobeches. Here is a nice lamp made from an old clarinet retired and made into unique lighting by the player/owner. It's from the estate of the owner. And he had it in his office. It's a three-way switch, works great, stands 35.5" tall(without shade, that's the measurement to the top of the harp) LAMP SOLD WITHOUT SHADE, too expensive to ship with the shade, not worth it. The clarinet has a crack in the wood near the bottom, see photos. It's a very handsome piece with moving parts and a sturdy base made of marble and wood. Here's a stunning Art Deco nude lady metal statue on marble base from San Francisco Estate. Circa 1930. She is holding a round glass plate or disk. She can also hold a mirror. A ball, clock, etc. or she can be made into a lamp or she can display jewelry or other special items. She has many uses, and she is absolutely exquisite! This deco lady is in a kneeling position with one leg stretched behind her. She is has a wonderful deco hairdo with hair band and flowers, and both of her arms are up in the air. She is holding a round flat red glass plate or disk. The deco lady is made of some kind of metal with a gold finish- a magnet will not stick to her. The round plate is made of dark red glass with one smooth side and one textured side(see picture) The base is made of two pieces of marble- white over black with beiges and brown marbling. ... moreVery striking. The overall measurement is 15" long, 4" wide, and 11-1/2" tall. The glass plate measures 5-1/2" wide and 1/4" thick. It fits nicely in the two slots on the inside of the lady's hands(see picture) There are no signatures or manufacture marks that we could find, but she is quality. The condition is amazingly very good except one large chip on one corner of the marble base and maybe a few normal nicks on the edges(see picture) There are no chips, breaks or repairs on the nude lady statue or the glass plate. They are in excellent condition. The lady is bolted to the base, and there is green felt on the bottom to protect your furniture. She is quite heavy, and weighs approx 10 lbs. The estimated value was $450.00 to $650.00 according to the estate. Our reserve is only $175.00. This fabulous deco lady came from an estate in San Francisco, and is vintage. Antique Marble Clock on Wooden Base-Made in Germany-Early 20th Century?
This is an original vintage clock made primarily of marble(I think) surrounding the clock workings and on a wooden painted base. There is a mother of pearl type cover to the center of the Roman Numerals on the dial. Also. There is a key that allows you to wind the clock at a hole in the face- it is like an old skate key and winds to the left. It does work and keeps time, losing about 5 minutes or so every couple days. I could find only one marking on the clock that says"MADE IN GERMANY" in tiny print on the metal rim below the Roman Numeral VI inside the glass face. The size is 15" long(base) by 9-1/2" tall and 5-1/2" wide(base) It is very heavy weighing over 10 pounds. The look of this clock makes me think it is from the Art Deco period but I cannot substantiate this other than via my instincts. My notes on this ... moreare completely non-existant so any other expertise/suggestions available here on EBAY would be gratefully appreciated. Condition is very fine although there is natural wear and tear over the years(mainly to the paint on the wooden base. This item is from a small private collection of primarily African tribal collectibles/art(also includes a few North West/Canadian/Eskimo/Asian pieces/US Art Work-paintings and lithographs) Most of the African material was collected in the 1970s and represents varies tribes from the Cameroon. It measures 14 inches or 36 cm high. The base measures 5 by 10 3/4 inches or 12 by 27 cm. The bronze is mounted on a marble base and held to that base by studs and nuts. The bronze shows the athlete competing in the ancient Greek Olympic sport called the Pankraton. The Pankatron was what we would call today a martial art sport and was an all out affair without any real rules. It is the forerunner of both wrestling and todays boxing. The nude athlete is in a dark. Very rich, greenish bronze patina or color. He stands on a variegated black marble base. The condition of both the bronze and the marble is excellent and all original. This has classic simple lines solid bronze sculpture set on a piece of 1" marble. It looks like a Native woman carrying a container/ basket on her head. She has a neck piece and her hair has a braid coming down one side of the figure. Stature stands 7" tall and is fastened to a 1" thick piece of marble. Beautiful patina, unfortunately I don't know much about this piece, I can tell you it looks and feels like a piece that would be in a collection of important bronze works. It is stunning. c 1850-60 original mid victorian kerosene oil lamp wheel cut decorated with grapes.
