The bag features a cathedral frame and a chainmaille body with the European pattern& scalloped trim. The frame is decorated with natural and geometric engraving and it features an easy to use kiss lock closure on top. The locks appear to have had tiny(2.5/3mm) sapphire cabochons in the past; however. There is only one stone remaining. The remaining stone is also missing the tip but this is only noticeable when looking under the magnifying glass. The bag also features a ring on the back that is big enough to accommodate various chains. It is approximately 3 ¾” long x 2 ½” wide at the widest point. The diameter of the ring is approximately ¼” and the frame is ... more2" wide at the widest point. The frame of the bag is also marked with a Swedish triple crown in an oval for imports. S in a hexagon for silver. 935 for purity. And it is signed GH on the inside. Acid tested for purity and tests as at least.925 sterling silver. Total weight is 20.18 dwt. 31.39 grams. Except for the tiny stones. Which can be easily replaced, this bag is in excellent functional condition with nice natural patina and deserves a home where it will be treasured for years to come. Antique Coin Silver Sugar Tongs Thomas Purse MD, VA, SC. Ca 1800
This is a lovely pair of coin silver sugar tongs. They’re 5 5/8” long. The engraving is well done all over this unique design. And the back is mono’d Holliday. They’re in good condition. Weigh 1.1 toz. The mark is not well struck but it is certainly that showed in Catherine B. Hollan’s excellent book on Virginia Silversmiths. On page 631 mark b. you will see the same thickened trunk on the T. She also describes a pair of tongs with similar arms( but different engraved Monogram) Everyone I have talked to has agreed that this is Purse’s mark and not that of T. P of Paris. Ky. Purse worked in Baltimore 1795-9, 1805-10, and Winchester, Virginia 1799-1805 and finally Charleston, South Carolina 1810-22. I would presume these were made in Va, as the style is late 18 th century. But the new owner can decide. A great item for a collector! An antique expandable french coin Purse. The item is made of soft brown leather and is held by a nickel lattice concertina ring which expands to allow access to the contents. In the item there is also a small internal pocket. The neck is stamped with the makers mark of'J.M.Cie' and also marked with an old french patent mark' Bte S.G.D.G' The neck is in good condition with no dents or splits e.c.t mechanism fully functional. In good condition overall. The color in the design detailed at the front of the purse has faded over time. For your consideration a Victorian Antique STERLING SILVER CHATELAINE with 3 Chains. Each one holding something precious to the previous Owner some 125 years ago or so. It includes the pin itself which is marked Sterling and manages to have two either Serpent or Dragon Fish on either side of it. And also cut out Florals in the Center, scrolls on the Edge. It measures 3 1/4" x 2" The three chains hold a small coin purse. Crocheted I believe and decorated with marcasite or cut steel. The frame on the little purse must be Sterling too, but the inside of the frame so black I couldn't clean it off well enough to find a Sterling mark. It polished up like Sterling, and it Looks like Sterling,so it must be. The sweet coin purse measures 4 1/4" x 2 1/8" Then there's a lead pencil which may or may not still have lead in ... moreit. I see Sterling written at the bottom edge of it. Next a sweet little button hook which I have no doubt is Sterling too. But couldn't see the mark. COLLECTIBLE SOUVENIR BEADED WHIMSY COIN PURSE, BEAUTIFUL
Up for offer is an absolutely beautiful beaded coin purse. So many patterns and beautiful color. I believe the base is leather with dark blue velvet on the outside and a faded blue cotton on the inside. Black beads edge all around and I think some of these may be missing. The flap has a snap for closure. Scalloped pattern edges on flap and main purse front and back. The back has a male face profile in headdress. All beads. Flowers and twig like flora found on both front and back. I can't adequately describe the use of color beads to make such a lovely purse. Look at those pictures. The purse measures 5" tall by 6" wide at fullest. This coin purse was probably done by one of the tribes in the Iroquois Nation. This is a Wonderful Vintage 1921 Coin Purse with President Harding on the Front of it in Brass and when opened it has a local Advertisement of Golden Rule Ref. Co. ~ Golden Rule Oil Co. ~ Wichita. Kansas ~ We Make And Sell Blue Ribbon Gasoline And Oils! The coin purse itself is made of leather and it in good condition, it does show it's age, but you have to remember this is from the 20's. The only damage that I can see is on the celluloid that covers the advertisement inside the coin purse, on the left hand lower end it has a small tear in the celluloid not the paper underneath. This is quite the coin purse and would be an Absolute Excellent Item to Add to Your Collection! It measures 3 1/8" across and 2 1/4" tall. Vintage collapsible pink leather rawhide rosette coin purse RARE
This would make a perfect gift for your vintage Valentine Collector. Very rare rawhide leather pink collapsible coin purse in a rosette design. This was my grandmothers and may date back to the 40s or 50s. There is no makers mark that I can find. Purse still folds up in excellent condition. There is coin residue on the inside left from many years of carrying around her pennies. As indicated in photo 2. I'm sure that can be cleaned but I am no expert in rawhide or what can be used to clean it so I will leave that up to you.
