The cylindrical neck is fitted with an impressive broad rib decorated German silver hallmarked mount with a hinged cover. Surmounted with a silver ball finial. The surface of the cover is embellished with two contemporary engravings of‘v.Bieberstein’ and‘v.Etsdorff’ The 800 standard silver mount is ornamented at each incurve below the ribbed decoration with further contemporary engravings of‘v.Vierech’ v.Wintsky’ v.Ochs’ and‘v.Lauts’ below arched convex fluted decoration. This antique claret jug is fitted with a plain angular handle. The lower portion of the glass body of the jug is embellished with reeded style cut decoration in addition to a star cut base.
