Then the lower case"a" is the date letter, however, I am not able to find this same combination without the City or Makers Mark, but would suggest, based upon the engraving, that this is from circa 1890's. The handle is wood and in very nice condition. Very smooth with no flaws. The pot holds 3 cups. The hallmark is stamped on the underside of the lid and there is nothing on the base of the pot. Cracrofts Toothpaste Pot w/Lid
For your consideration. An Antique Victorian Era Transfer printed Toothpaste lidded pot or crock. These pots were made in England from 1840-1920. It once contained Areca Nut toothpaste, warranted to be from the genuine“Cincalese” recipe& sold by John Pepper& Co. Chemists, London. The crock was made in the Staffordshire district and is transfer printed in black with the name of the product on the lid. What makes this piece so unusual is the advert printed on the inside of the lid for the soap made by the same chemist. Very few of these crocks were produced this way due to the added printing expense. An early form of clever cross advertising. The crock stands 1 1/2″ high and 2 3/4″ wide. It is thinly potted with a precision cut rim and a crisp. Finely applied transfer. The top side of the lid is excellent. Slightly crazed on the inside ... moredue to contact with the toothpaste. From a victorian house estate sale in Abilene Kansas. Don't have alot of information on this Teapot Set. Some of the engraving on the bottom of the pot reads Rd No 165419 Hard Soldered. Stands 13b3/3" tall on it's stand. The 3 legs of the stand are 6 1/2" apart. Both the Tea Pot and the fuel burner are clean inside, do not appear to ever bein used. The 5& 6th pictures show 2 places where the handle had some small silver or chrome flakes come off. On May-16-13 at 20:18:13 PDT. This is a wonderful old child's cup from the latter part of the 19th century. It was made by and has all the stamps from the Queen City Silver Co. It is encircled by a raised relief Dutch children's scene; a windmill by the sea. Children playing and herding ducks and geese, and a boat out on the water. It most definitely was used, there is a small dent on the base(photo 7) there is some plate loss, and there is a hole worn through on the skirt of one of the little girls(photo 8) This is a very endearing little piece and the wear only adds to its charm. The mounting is not fancy. It consists basically of a p olished plain yellow gold shank. And an 8-claw prong head which secures the diamond. It's beautifully inscribed with the initials"RFM to MJC" and I'm sure there was a date(which I would venture to say would be in the late 1800s. As I've sold rings like this before) that is no longer visible. The diamond is a n antique old mine cushion cut with a high table and open culet. It measures 5.4 x 4.95 x 3.10 deep. Which cal culates to.52 ct using a mm to carats conversion c alculator. The diamond has not been removed from the setting and weighed. The dia mond is graded as I color and SI-2 ... moreclarity. Up for bid is beautiful antique Victorian 10k yellow gold red coral cameo ring size 5. The cameo is a.75" side view carving of a pretty Victorian woman with her hair pulled back in the traditional Victorian manner. The cameo is firmly in place and is in very good condition. The sides of the ring are ornate with little flowers. The ring is unmarked but tested and is 10k gold. The ring has been worn and could use a cleaning. There are some tiny dings/marks on the inside of the gold band and expected wear but the band still hold its shape and is beautiful. The ring weighs 2.7 grams which includes the cameo in that weight. For auction is a beautiful Victorian pure silk pale pink cover/piano shaw l hand embroidered all over with gorgeous silk flowers. It fits the top of a double bed easily with the tassels hanging over and measures 150 by 139 no including tassels. These measure 18cm each side, would look good on a bed, sofa, chair or table. None of the tassels are tangled. And it only needs a gentle iron, it has some creases, it been unused for many years. The condition is excellent. Lovely soft silk, it is very clean, no bad odours, no signs of rust, damp etc. The embroidered silk flowers are all excellent no loose or missing threads. No holes. Victorian gold filled locket pendant engraved with the initials"LMM" This piece is unmarked for metal content but appears to be gold filled and it of that era. Circa 1890's-1910's. This beautiful piece is in very good condition with normal wear due to age and use, but it does have a lot of discoloration/metal wear on the inside.
