Antique, ceramic,London Chemist's toothpaste Jar crock pot lid
You are bidding on an antique. Ceramic, under-glaze-transferred L ONDON Chemist' s toothpaste container or"pot lid" as they are kn own. The lid was produced for the London Company of"Lewis& Burrows Ltd" which was located in New Oxford St. LONDO N. This particular design was used slightly later in the company's history.from 1900-1910. It feat ures the Co. monogram towards the bottom of the lid face. And a sprig of Areca nuts to the top of the face. The Areca nut(a Middle Eastern palm nut) was believed to have astringent and hygienic properties in this time period. And so was used in the preparation of the paste! The lid is in pretty good shape for over 100 years.just some very s mall areas of wear on the edges and a scratch line at about 9-10 o' clock which is not easily noticeable. The lid measures 2 5/8" ... morein diameter and the base is a good fit. Only the shade of it. Is a little more creamy than the lid, but not a big deal. Overall a nice little memento of pharmaceutical history! FOR VIEWERS WHO MAY NOT BE FAMILIAR WITH THESE DELIGHTFUL LITTLE JARS.THEY WERE USED BETWEEN APPROX. 1840-1920 TO MARKET VARIOUS PRODUCTS WHICH CAME IN A PASTE FORM. AFTER WWI THEY BECAME OBSOLETE AS MORE MODERN AND ECONOMICAL FORMS OF PACKAGING REPLACED THEM. THE RECOVERY AND COLLECTING OF THESE OLD PIECES HAS BECOME A POPULAR. WORLD-WIDE HOBBY, AND A QUAINT REMINDER OF A BYGONE ERA. BE ASSURED, YOU ARE BIDDING ON A GENUINE AND AUTHENTIC PERIOD PIECE. Overseas bidders are welcome. Antique Stoneware: Crock/jar w/ Cobalt Decoration, 1 Gall?
Beautiful cobalt decorated stoneware crock. It has fabulous decoration which looks like leaves on a vine. It also looks like hearts. It is marked on the front and I believe it to say West Troy Pottery. It measures 7.5 tall and 8 inches across the top. It has a couple of OLD chips on the front and a couple of very small flea bites on one ear. There is also a tight crack on one side. There are lots pf pictures. None of this distracts from the appearance. This stoneware crock is not in mint condition so if you are wanting mint please don't bid. This is an old utilitarian piece and used as such. All sales are final. Insurance is included in my shipping charge. If it seems high. Please don't bid. I have this packed professionally and shipped ups so it gets there in one piece. Otto Lewis was the first potter to locate here with many firms being formed soon after. George Satterlee opened the Fort Edward Pottery Co. in 1859. Michael Mory joined the firm in 1861 to form Satterlee and Mory. J. A. C. W. Underwood ran a pottery firm. Which opened in 1865 and closed in 1867. Haxstun, Ottman& Co. ran it from 1867 to 1872 on the site of the former Underwood Pottery. In 1872, Haxstun withdrew from Ottman and the firm became known as Ottman Brothers. In 1875. A pottery opened on the corner of Broadway and Argyle Street under the ownership of Haxstun and Company. Later it was purchased by the Tilford Brothers, who were succeeded by George S. Guy. The Fort Edward Stoneware Association was formed in February of 1883 by a group of pottery manufacturers. In 1892, the Hilfinger Brothers purchased the Guy Pottery, which was to remain in operation until 1941. Unlike the former stoneware manufactures, the Hilfinger produced earthenware pottery from native clay.

Antique Vintage Salt Glaze Brown Crock Jar 1 1/2 QT Wax Seal
Up for bid is a antique brown crock salt glaze jar used for vegetables or fruit. The lid was sealed to the jar with wax. Such jars date back to the 1200's however this one is probably from the 1800's. This jar is 1 1/2 qt. capacity. Stands 7" tall and is 3 1/2" across. You couldn't ask for a nicer piece for it's age as it has one small chip and wear along the rim and another chip on the side, each about 1/5" and some glaze is missing at the bottom, appears to be a manufacturing flaw. Otherwise there are no other cracks or other chips. This would be a great addition to a collection. Please take a minute and look at my other listings which are varied and different. I will combine postage I have considerable inventory I need to consolidate and doesn't help that I keep adding to it. I particularly like the 1940's ... moreand 1950's but do list other items so check back. If you find something you like remember I will combine postage. I do send parcel post in an attempt to keep shipping cost down but if you want another type of shipping let me know.

Antique Unknown Missouri or Illinois Stoneware Crock - Notched Band Marked Rim
For sale is an antique stoneware crock. I have not seen a similar one before. It has a band made up of small notches that go all the way around the crock. Also has a backwards 4 and another line stamped into the rim. Appears to be about a 4 gallon crock. Not in the best shape- has a large y shaped crack on side and some other narrow hairlines on sides. Some cracks on the bottom as well. Some small chips or pock marks on the side walls and interior- I assume these are flaws and not created by the firing process. Found at a sale in wright city Missouri, I assume it is a Missouri or Illinois Pottery Piece The brown on the inner walls is dull or matte. Not the gloss like one usually sees Click on pictures to enlarge for more details Shipping is FedEx ground to lower 48 states. Can not ship to po boxes Missouri residents must pay 8.35% sales tax

Antique Lord Stoutenburg & Co. Chicago Illinois Stoneware Salt Glazed Crock IL
This is an Antique Lord Stoutenburg& Co. Chicago Stoneware Crock. This is a cool old crock and it really shows it's age. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find any information on this company. I did find a bunch of Stoutenburg genealogy information but nothing that led to this business. There are a couple of hairline cracks and one major repair to this crock so please inspect the pictures very carefully. It has a couple of minor chips out of the top lip. It is quite obvious this crock will not hold liquids and cannot be used for canning or sauerkraut but for a collector, it would be a great find as I have yet to see another like it. It measures 10 1/4" tall x 5" in diameter at the top x 6 1/2" in diameter at the base. Thanks for looking! Questions welcome.
