The dry fuel tablet stove was issued with dry hexamethylene tetramine fuel tablets that could be carried in the stove when in the closed position. The dry fuel tablet stove was generally carried in the bread bag along with other assorted personal items. Sorry for the poor quality photos. Flash and shadows make the stove look two toned when in fact the porcelain was in such good shape it was only necessary to re-porcelain the backsplash. It is ready for natural gas and can be changed to propane. This is a beautiful 61C. This stove is like new although it is 60+ years old. My refurbisher has been doing this over 40 years. Center connections for hot and cold water, heavy double seamless-drawn copper coil, casting and finish of usual Vulcan smoothness and finish. Rove diameter of base 8 1/2" Length of the jacket is 24" and consumption 50 to 60 cu ft, and weighs 50 lbs. As shown in the pictures. All parts seem to be there, some rusting in areas, the top pipe I could not remove so I will have to cut it for shipping and will leave enough to get the pipe wrench on it. Antique Old Metal Cast Iron Union Stove Works Grand No 6 Sad Iron Heater Stove
Due to the highly unusual nature and rarity of this stove I am accepting offers. So please feel free to make a fair offer. I would really appreciate offers due to the fact that I am not actually sure of this stove's true value. This auction is for a very rare Union stove works Grand No 6 stove Comes with everything shown in the photo. This stove is simply AMAZING! I have never seen anything even close to this nice from the Union Stove Works company. Or any stove company for that matter. After much research I have discovered that this is a sad iron stove. A sad Iron is a solid iron.well iron that you would have to heat up in some manner prior to using it. That is where this stove comes in. Notice the iron rust"stains" on the top. They are from a sad iron. The top and bottom are brass. This stove was obviously a high end product ... moreback in the day. It has 18"gemstones" on the front. And it is very ornately decorated with fine details. I do not claim that they are actually precious gemstones* There is a serial# on the copper tag on the side. It is 15885. There is some obvious rust on the grate and the insides of the stove. There is also some rust on the front and back side of the stove. I am sure that this stove will need some repairs and a cleaning before it could be used again. I will leave that up to the buyer. There is a crack on the left bottom front side. It starts at the left bottom edge of the door opening and continues to the bottom edge of the stove.
