This is a very nice compact by the company Coty called"Sleigh Bells" The Ad. reference for this dates to 1942. It is a goldtone with red accents compact with bells hanging across the handle. The case is signed and it in very good condition with a few minor age spots. The interior mirror has some discoloration to the silvering of the mirror again due to age. The interior is in nice condition with the rouge(no puff) that still reads lightly"Coty" The powder well is empty but has its signed puff. It is 3 3/4" x 3" x 3/8" in size. There is no box. Here we have a nice set of 31 Antique sleigh bells on the original leather strap. They make a Wonderful sound. They mesaure Around 82 1/2 inches long. These could still be used on a horse today.All you would have to do is add a metal buckle. The holes the buckle fit threw are all ready punched. Leather is still quite frim for its great age. We had them hanging on the side of our door way for years. The Grand children use to love to play with them. They used to call them Santa Clause Bells.

Brass Swedish Sleigh Bells on Leather Strap Harness
For your consideration is these Brass Swedish Sleigh Bells on a leather strap. There are four brass bells securely attached to a wide. Solid double leather strap. The bells are in two sizes- 2 1/4" and 3" There is some pitting, tarnish and corrosion and there are some breaks or cracks on the bells near and around the slit lines and one of the smaller bells has some major damage as show in photo 4. The leather strap is 17"L x 2 1/4"W and in very good used condition. Even with the breaks on the bells, the sound is resounding. The maker and age is unknown. FYI: Swedish style bells usually meaure 2-3" in diameter. Their size gives these bells a much louder. Deeper"Clanging" sound. A distinative feature of the cast Swedish bells is the narrow slits that are cut into each bell after it is cast. Traditional Swedish ... morebells are cast brass. They have a distinct ridge around the middle and a graceful tulip shape. They have a loop base that allows these heavy bells to be securely attached to the strap. Many are made in America. Antique. All original sleigh bells on a leather strap, that came from Maine. The two large bells on the strap are apprx 3" And the smaller are apprx 2 1/2"in diam. The bells have minor scratches. 5 have cracks or are beginning to crack, patina, and other minor signs of wear(as seen in photos) The leather strap is in good condition. The round bells graduate in size from about 1-7/16" to about 2-1/4" The other two bells are about 2-1/8" acrossed and about 2-1/2" acrossed. This item up for auction is a set of 5 vintage Harness sliegh bells in great condition all the bells ring fine no dings chips nice shape need a clean up. These bells were attached to a 1860s Springer wagon. That was built in Chicago driven to Minnesota and sometime in the 1960's my grandfather went to Minnesota and brought here to california on a trailer. So i beleive these bells are of the same age. Here is a strap of 21. Antique, brass, sleigh bells. They range in size from#1 to#15. The number of sizes is as follows: 15-1, 13-1, 12-1, 11-3, 10-1, 8-3, 7-1, 5-3, 4-2, 3-3, 1-2. These bells have tabs, which makes them easy to use in a variety of ways, unlike the bells which are riveted to their straps. The bells, which I am selling, were originally attached to a leather strap. That strap has been reinforced with a canvas strap. There is damage to the number 15 bell, as well as a#3 and two#5's. Shipping weight is 8 pounds. Shipping is a large, flat-rate box is $18. If I remove the bells from the strap, I can ship in a medium box for $12.35.

They are stamped forming one piece from heavy sheet brass and all have two throats(slits) The conical base is inscribed with"PAT. OCT 24. 76& MAY 14. 78" that's 1800's) Stamped bells have a higher or shimmery sound. Nice patina, did not attempt to clean, will leave that to new owner's discretion. They are 1 3/8" bells. The leather strap is very worn, would need to be replaced with suitible one. They could be a door hanger, added to a wreath, or in a western room as added motif.

4 Beautiful Antique Bells - Cow bells, Sleigh Bells
These are REALLY NICE bells! They are solid. Smooth, heavy brass- they weigh 13-1/2oz. The large bell is 3-1/2" x 4-3/4" The middle two are 3" x 4-1/2" and the small one is 2-3/4" x 3-3/4" The clappers are very heavy and I don't think they are brass or lead. There are no mold marks and I want to say they are bronze. There is some rust. But they are not corroded at all. More like tarnished. I think they look great the way they are, but of course they could be polished. There are no maker stamps. I try to make all my photos as true as I can. Used. Vintage and antique items may have small discolorations under magnification. I usually ship within one business day. I will always try to be fair on shipping cost. And will combine when possible. Old leather strap 8 vintage metal harness sleigh bells primitive horse antique
I can't find any maker mark on these. I think these are iron though. Not brass, but I am just guessing. Hopefully you can tell from the pictures? One of the photos show a flaw, I think it happened during the casting. You can see the leather strap is in pretty tough shape. It is still one piece right now. There are 8 bells and all of them have their little balls inside for making their jingle. 1" bells on a strap that is about 21 1/2" long.
