This antique green metal nursery scale is unmarked but is very similar to American Family nursery scales. At one time there would have been either a metal tray or wicker basket on the top. The baby graphic is somewhat scarce. It is crisp and clear. There is a darkened area across the bottom. The scale case is sturdy. Intact, and not dented. There is paint loss and rust. The approximate measurements are 8 inches high, 6 inches across the front of the base and 8.25 inches along the side of the base. The scale face is glass and measures 6.75 inches in diameter. Antique 19thC Gold Miners Brass and Wood Apothecary Scale Balance Jewelry
This is an old antique Brass and wood balance scale. Possibly from the 19th century. The only hint as to the maker is the word"Germany" on the balance bar at the top. The wood case has two drawers and is perhaps made of walnut, with walnut veneer. Some veneer has chipped off and is discoled in the left rear section. Otherwise the wood has a nice warm patina. One of the brass trays has become separated and will need to be re-soldered to its arm. also the center brass column is not screwed to the wood case, it is loose. Otherwise, all the parts appear to be present, but will need a nice cleaning. The wood case is about 20 1/4" by 10 1/2" BY 4" TALL. With the brass scale the total height is about 20 3/4" tall. The scale weighs almost 12 lbs! The brass is heavy. A great old scale for restoration.
