This sweetie measures approximately 15 inches tall by about 11 inches across at the widest bottom part. It is plumped with new premium fiberfil and the back is from the backing of this same crazy quilt. The backing is a deep wine colored fabric. I believe taffeta, but maybe a heavier silk.just not sure. What makes this fabric so interesting is that it has white raised intertwining circles which appear to be painted or stenciled. This kitty proudly showcases some large white pond lilies with their green lily pads. The embroidery is detailed and lovely.there are even some gold chenille worked stamens. I've tied a black velvet ribbon around the kitty's neck and have added a beautiful butterfly pin.easily removable if you wish to wear it or give it as a gift. The butterfly's wings are Mother of Pearl encased in a gold tone metal. The dimensional eyes are white faux pearls.sweetness! Antique Lightning Pattern Quilt Top Red & White 44 X 88
Beautiful Antique Quilt Top 44 X 88 I love this very unusual quilt top. It was one of my favorites. I am thinning out my personal collection of quilts and tops as I don't think I'll ever get to all of them! This one is unusual in that it's very narrow. Back in the day they made quilts to just cover the top of your bed. The beds were also smaller then. There is enough length to cover the pillow top. Of course you could modify this quilt top and make it larger if you like. It's made in a stair step pattern or lightning bolt pattern I believe. It is machine pieced. Very sturdy measuring 78" x 91" with each block measuring 12" x 12" and each plate measuring 8" across. This top is in wonderful condition. All but some age spots that can be removed using cleaner for antique textiles and linens. For auctio n is a beautiful quilt in subdued pastel tones. In a wedding ring pattern. Quilt appears entirely hand-stitched, but may have been partially machine-made. Item is signed Marion Nims( Brown 1935 on reverse. Measurement is about 77 x 90 inches. Condition is excellent. No apparent wear. There is some light soiling on reverse only. And a small stain which has a very very slight bleedthrough on the front(see last photo) Near-perfect in my estimation. Shipping is based on location. Item will weigh about 5.5 pounds packed. Mennonite made, Double pink and over dyed green antique quilt. It has triple chain quilting and 1 1/4" grid quilting. There is a large quilted feathered wreath in the center. Nicely hand quilted at 6 stitches per inch. Light pencil marks visible. Machine bound. It has a GLORIOUS chintz backing with sailing ships. Sea shells, coral, birds, and butterflies. The fabulous back: There are four panels of chintz fabric. The original fabric would have a 24" selvage to selvage. This Quilt measures 81" x 78" This quilt comes with a picture of the maker. Heirloom Antique Vintage 1800's HANDMADE SIX STAR QUILT 68 x 88 IN W/ PROVENANCE
When I first saw this stunning star quilt. I was struck by the beautiful straight line tiny stitches. It must have taken hours to make. When I unfolded it, I found a hand written note pinned inside. It reads"This quilt was made by Josephine Budd Bessette in the early 1800. Wife of Alex, mother of Arthur, Mary, Frank, Georgiannie, Oscar and Eugene. The material in these diamond shape pieces to make 6 stars a partially handwoven and dyed from berries and roots. The calico pieces were from her children baby dresses to make up this beautiful hand pieced and quilted quilt. As told to me by Georgiannie daughter of Josephine Marie Bessette daughter of Oscar Bessette. I'm no quilt expert, but this quilt looks to be in very nice condition for its age. There is some color loss in the green pieces. Looks like there was a small repair done on ... moreone of the corners, shown in the second photo. There is some slight darkening on the white, and what appear to be some storage stains on the back. The quilt measures about 68 by 88 inches. I would describe it as a medium-weight quilt. 1930's "Pansy" Antique Applique Quilt
1930's"Pansy" Antique Applique Quilt Far& near I sought Utterance in a thought A garden ever blooming. Just for you; So flowers that will not wilt I stitched into a quilt. My treasure-trove of memories for you. Josephine Day Mickelson Pretty pansies fill this quilt that was made in the 1930's ~ made with 100% cotton even the blocks& border was pieced by hand ~ measures 80" x 70" Pansies of all colors are appliqued to a crisp white backing. Bordered in light green(The backing is true white but my poor picture taking skills make it look a little bluish! There are blue pansies, green, pink& peach, orange& purple pansies, each made with a light& darker shade of the same. You'll see a couple different greens too that make up the leaves& stems. Each was appliqued with black thread in a small ... moreblanket stitch. I didn't see any loose threads. It's in very good condition with no rips, tears or holes, no fraying. There are a few stains& yellowing near the top& I've pictured those for you. See the last two pictures. There's a lot of quilting here ~ the border is quilted with single feathers. All of the solid white blocks are quilted with feather wreath medallions& all of the flowers are quilted around. Nice& tight even stitching with 7 spi. Antique Applique Quilt~Unique Pattern w/Provenance Pioneer Quilters With busy fingers but with voices gay. They quilted treasure troves for you& me. No time for idle thoughts. Then, thrifty souls, Their quilts would live in pictured history. Irene F. Cohen Wow! This is a very nice quilt that has been in the Milligan family of Cambridge. Ohio for many, many years. The Milligans were some of the first to settle that area. The last person in the family to own this quilt was Marian Milligan(April 24, 1911- December 14, 2003) It is believed that her grandmother, Carrie B. Cameron(October, 1863- 1913) made this quilt; or at least the applique. Carrie was also the last known family member to have possession of their family bible, according to my research. I also had to research this very distinctive applique pattern but found nothing remotely ... moreclose. Women oftentimes made their own quilt patterns& I think this is one of her own designs. It resembles some of the old thistle patterns. Four huge blocks of this design fill the quilt ~ Dark turkey red blossoms. An overdyed green& yellow print for the stems& leaves, and cheddar-colored centers. all expertly appliqued to a beige unbleached muslin-like cotton fabric. The quilt has never been laundered; you can still see very light pencil trace lines. I don't want to tell you that I know for certain that Carrie made this quilt simply because the binding is newer than the rest of the quilt but then there are strips of old sugar bag fabric on one end on the back side. It may be that this was a quilt top that never got completed or Marian or her mother, Blanche Burt Milligan(born December 10, 1891) completed it? None the less, it's beautiful. It measures 83" x 82" is in very good condition with no rips, tears or holes. You will see though, that there is browning around all of the applique, darker in some areas& lighter in others. A large variety of feedsack and novelty cotton prints make a wonderful combination together set against a charming floral backdrop. The back is a floral print and is brought to the front for the binding. Sweet old primitive quilt! Measures 78" x 64" Hand-quilted. There are 11 popped seams along with one small tear in the body of quilt. See pic. The main issue with this sweet quilt is the binding. Off white cotton muslin backing fabric with hand applied dark blue cotton binding. Thin summer weight cotton batting. This is a WONDERFUL quilt for fabric lovers of all ages. It is a medium to heavy quilt due to the weight of the fabrics and batting used. I just can't tell you how beautiful this quilt is! WOW! The fabrics used are all 100% Cotton feed sacks and vintage prints. This could be all FEED SACKS as I a m not an expert. The cotton fabrics used are all high quality and in great condition. It has no flaws and I don't feel it was ever used. This has a long long life of use ahead. Very rare to find one like this. The overall size is 78 X 80 inches. The top has been quilted with a medium to heavy cotton for batting. The backing is pieced in a another quilt pattern that I am not sure of the name. Vintage Quilt Top -1880's or Earlier Pineapple - Turkey Red - Poison Green
You are bidding on this old quilt top that dates back quite a few years. It came from my stash of old quilting items that I have collected for over 30 years; it is time to thin out my collection. Most came from estate sales of quilters and seamstresses. This top is is an old one. I put 1880 or earlier as the date. The green fabric was made in the old double color dyeing process that was used up to around the 1880's. A fabric was dyed yellow then indigo was over dyed on it to give it the green color. One of the components used in the dye as arsenic. There are old stories of people wear green clothing and dying as a result of the arsenic absorbed through their skin, hence the name poison green. The top was originally hand sewn but someone went around some of the flowers and top stitched them. The top looks like it was washed at one time, ... moreit shows some wear from being handled. I see one very tiny tear in the green fabric and some age dark spots. The green is uneven in color as these over dyed fabrics usually are unstable and will change color over time as seen on this top. It is in outstanding condition clean with lots if thick lush fringe. The Columbus Ohio Art Museum notes in a 1995 publication that there are only 26 known Meily coverlets. In 1834. Meily received a patent for a weaving machine which was described as a type of machine never before used in America. I find a thin spot on one side(pictured) and some missing stitches. A bit of fringe loss on the sides. There are 4 big stars and loads of little ones. The indigo fringe is dark and lush. Coverlet measures 77 x 95 without the fringe. POSTAGE STAMP ~ 9 PATCH QUILT ~ c.1880 ~ INDIGOS ~ 5 BORDERS ~ Needs TLC Here is a real postage stamp quilt with tiny squares. 3/4" on a side. Indigo with tiny stars alternate with a pink and white calico. There are five borders with wear to the binding and in a few spots on the outer most frame. And on the surface of on a handful or so of the calico squares. No holes through but two of the large white squares have damage(perhaps a cat clawing? They are shown in the closeups. Piecing and quilting is all by hand. This quilt has been hand laundered and is thin and clean. It measures 77" x 75" Do let me know if you need more photos or have any questions. Antique Vintage Primitive Diamond Patterned Quilt from the early 1900s: Pickens County. Alabama This quilt was made by my great aunt who was born in the 1880s. It was worn out when I inherited it. I had it hanging in the house for many years. Out of the sun. Please see photos for details, but I'm amazed at how bright the red and orange colors still are after 100+ years. Miss Nina was obviously not the best seamstress, which makes it more sweet. But she could cook the best cupcakes on this earth. She was still baking even after she went blind. I'd keep this sentimental old quilt, but it will just languish in an attic and needs someone who loves old primitives like this to enjoy. I've priced it very low and will pack it with care. I've never washed this quilt and it has a musty smell if you stick your nose in it. It's about ... more73x85 inches. It's always been in a non-smoking environment and I see no water damage on it. Antique Quilt Hand Stitch Hand Applique Cotton 80" x 65" Tans Cross Pattern
Antique quilt is in pretty good condition considering it's age. Quilt is very old. There are some areas of fabric deterioration specifically the tan stripe. I can identify 6 area where the fabric has shred from age. The last 3 photo's show examples. The last two were taken at night so fabric color is not as good, photo for the purpose of showing the tears. I can provide additional photo's if you message me through Ebay. This quilt was purchased an an estate sale and we were told all quilts at the sale dated from the mid 1800's to the 1930's period.
