We have a"Double Wedding Ring" Quilt and a"Tree of Life" Quilt. The romantic Double Wedding Quilt(c. 1930s-1940s) is created with a colorful variety of printed and solid cotton fabrics. Scalloped edges, and has white backing. The earliest published example of the"Double Wedding Ring" quilt is a pattern in the October 20 1928 edition of Cappers Weekly which credited it to Mrs. J.D. Patterson of Wellington Kansas. The"Tree of Life" Quilt(c. 1940s-1950s) featuring hand pieced trees with appliqued branches and pointed roots are beautifully executed in floral printed fabrics on white blocks, on a pale yellow background, with white ... morebacking. The"Tree of Life" pattern is said to indicate belief in eternal life. This pattern is traced back to early settlers of the New World who were inspired by the"Tree of Life" design that was common to oriental rugs and converted to a quilt pattern. The favored fabric for these old quilts was a calico in green tones with a darker green or brown fabric for the trunk. While the foliage was always a patterned fabric to show the variation of the light and dark of the tree, while the trunk was always a solid fabric. The largest quilt is 85" x 63" Both quilts are in very good to excellent condition, showing minor wear and staining. Excellent additions to a vintage quilt collection. Absolutely georgeous HANDMADE stitched and quilted QUEEN sized. Bright white/cream background with vibrant multi colored squares that are approxiamtely 2.5 inches each. Made by Grandma in the 30's or 40's. Bright vibrant colors are best seen in the photos in the cleaning bag. Light in the bedroom was not as bright. But needed to fold it out so you can see the entire quilt. Georgeous variety of fabrics used. Quilt is white on reverse. There is a close up of the inside folded over for detail. Spectacular stitching! There is a small stain. Which is blood that did not come in cleaning over the years. There is a close up of the stain, which is faded, but present. Westmoreland Milk Glass Old Quilt Block Spooner Mkd Ex
This is a heavy tri-mold white milk opaque glass spooner in the Old Quilt Block pattern made by the noted Westmoreland company. It measures 6 5/8 inches tall by 4 3/16 inches in diameter across the top. The body measures 3.75 inches across the center. The pedestal measures 3.25 inches in diameter. The different measurements are due to the flaring at the top which narrows slightly to the body which then narrows to the pedestal. It has the"WG" mark embossed underneath- WG began being used in the late 60s. It has been previously owned. It is in excellent condition- no chips. Cracks, or scratches. Offered is this charming Czech crystal bridge club snack set in Depression Glass colors of pink. Blue, green and amber. The little bowls take the shape of a club, diamond, heart and spade. The bottom of each dish features a diamond quilt design while the sides are paneled. Each little dish is about 4.25 inches long and about 3.5 inches wide. The height is about 3/4 inch. This green depression glass candlestick was manufactured by Imperial Glass Company in Bellaire. Ohio. The Diamond Quilt. Or Flat Diamond, pattern was made from the late 1920's to the early 1930's. Measuring approximately 4 1/4" across the base x 2 3/4 high. With the opening at nearly 1" across, the candle holder is in excellent condition. This is a real beauty. And will accent well, your sofa table, buffet, or even antique dresser on the candle platforms. These holder is uranium glass. And glow under a black light or purple laser. A nice vintage small pitcher that is light blue over white cased satin glass. It is a diamond quilted design and is unmarked but probably made by Mt Washington Glass. It measures just about 3 3/4 inches tall. It is about 3 1/2 inches from the tip of the spout to the back of the handle. The base is slightly under 2 inches wide. There are no tears or stains that I can see. If anything. There might be a minor discoloration on the lighter patches due to age. The squares were hand sewn together. Up for bids today is a fabulous ANTIQUE VINTAGE entirely Hand Pieced Quilt Top. I called it a cutter because there are a few areas with tears. But overall it is in very good condition. It certainly can be repaired. I believe it to be 100% cotton. Most of the fabrics look like Civil War fabrics to me. I base this on the reproduction fabrics that are on the market today. This top is certainly NOT a reproduction. But genuine. The size, very approximately, is 96 inches x 96 inches. Look at my other quilt listings. I will be happy to combine shipping where possible. Rare Vintage African American Black Folk Art Yo Yo Quilt Pieces Doll w/braids

The doll is handmade from pieces of material called yo yos. Which are typically found in what is known as a yo-yo quilt. The doll has a stuffed, cloth covered head. She's wearing a red checked hat which has a jingle bell attached. Her hair is braided. She has sewn on eyes, nostrils, and mouth, with painted cheeks. The doll is in wonderful condition with no damage, which is rare considering the age. An example of this type of doll can be seen featured on the front cover of the Dorothy Hammond price guide(1984-85) for $200.00. I've included photos of that book for you. Judi Warren received her MFA in Printed Textiles but has only been quilting since 1981. Saying that she wasn't very good at applique in 1981. She reminisced about sharing a room with applique teacher Helen Kelly. Working on a project she described as looking like"a brillo pad wrapped in rubber bands" Judi says she approached Helen for some advice and asked"Take a look and tell me what I'm doing wrong. She says Helen responded with"How much time do you have? Since that episode Judi has practiced her skills. Her latest endeavor includes a book on fabric postcards. Even in an increasingly high-tech world we still send postcards" Judi says of the fabric postcards she makes by piecing. Applique, and using Wonder-Under. They are quilts to be held in your hand rather than slept under, to express what you feel and ... morethink. Postcards explore themes of nature, history, travel and architecture. They act as sources of inspiration and enable us to transform and recreate our world in our quilts, to make a personally satisfying fabric representation of our experiences. Judi feels that the postcards should capture the essence of a place rather than be a photographic copy. We are quiltmakers. Not cameras, she says. To this end she wants us to look at postcards and pictures for inspiration, and material to be interpreted, rather than slavishly copied. In choosing materials for our postcards. We must take a fresh approach to looking at color and value, and the properties of the patterned fabric.
