Stone Carving from Santa Domingo mid 20th c. alleged pre-Columbian
This Stone Carving was acquired in 1966 in the hills of Santa Domingo. The carving was alleged to be very old and we bought it not from a shop. For there were none, but out in the middle of'no where' from a native who appeared from over a barren hill with a sack holding a couple of rocks. We didn't understand him well. We were camping in the open. but he pulled this carved rock, along with another from the sack to sell to us. He somehow communicated that they were really old, though communication was sparse. We bought them and he disappeared, and we didn't see anyone else for several days. We carried our alleged ancient carvings back to our home and between them, they brought my husband and me remarkable, good fortune. We fashioned a stand for each sculpture. It is now time to pass them on to another collector of good fortune. ... moreIt's a stone carving& heavy, about 12" tall.

RARE Authentic Pre-Columbian Peruvian Textile Artifact Human Figural 43"X25"
This is a AUTHENTIC priceless textile that really should belong in a museum that came to the US in the early 70's. It is Grandfathered in. I purchased it from a AACA Member who got it from an old reputable Dealer in Tucson. Arizona. It measures approx. 25" x 42 1/2" was found on the Northwestern coastal area of Peru. I believe it is from the Chimu Culture and dates to about 1000 A.D. The air is so dry on the west coast that textiles and perishable items don't rot. The threads making this cloth were first hand spun from cotton or coconut, then woven together into a cloth on a back- strap loom. Then the images were hand painted with natural dies in a batik-like& resist dying fashion. Surviving burial cloths like this always have a few darkened holes stained and damaged from the imperfect burial practice. There is a couple ... morepieces of an unpainted cloth-authentic from same period that is sewn to the back of the piece to patch a hole. There is 2 rows of 4 warrior figures holding weapons& 3 Flying deity figures holding weapons in the middle. Here is an email that I received from the person I got it from& I will include a printed copy with the textile: John. You are fine on the cloth and it came from a legitimate dealer who will back me up if it ever became necessary. I tried to reacquire the provenance info. while I was in Tucson, but no record of who they bought if from could be located. The guy I bought it from is really sick with Cancer, but the store has an extensive and very educational web site that was put together as a public resource by the other Owner Ron, who holds multiple doctorate degrees in both Archaeology and Anthropology and vast knowledge also in Paleontology. I bought the cloth from his brother Richard who is pretty sick with Cancer and who is going through the treatments for Cancer right now and kind of out of commission. Ron is probably the most knowledgeable person that I have ever met in these fields. The guy is a walking computer with vast experience and knowledge.

Very interesting Pre Columbian pottery vessel art with serpentine legs and serpent faces rimming the top of the vessel though the faces almost look simian. Colors still strong but they are still strong. there are areas of paint thinning minor pitting of paint and uneven glazing such as black clouding of vessel. I purchased this from Artemis Gallery and it comes with a COA. A kind of unusual pattern from Nicoyan area of Costa Rica. Interestingly the COA from the original buyer comes with this as well. Pre-Columbian Nayarit Warrior Figure, West Mexico
Pre-Columbian Nayarit Warrior Figure. West Mexico Click on these links to view larger photos: 1- 2- 3- 4- 5- 6 A Pre-Columbian warrior figure from the ancient region of Nayarit. West Mexico, circa 200 B.C. 300 A.D. This Ixtlan Del Rio type measures approximately 4 1/2" tall by about 3 1/2" wide, and depicts a seated warrior. Because some figures of this type are seated. Which is an impractical position for someone engaged in physical combat, some scholars suggest that these figures more likely represent shamans engaged in spiritual, rather than physical, warfare. Ethnographic data also supports this theory, since these figures are almost always facing left- the direction inhabitants of the region believe is symbolically associated with malevolent spirits or misfortune. He is shown holding a staff or club in an offensive position, ... morelooking slightly toward his left, perhaps engaged in shamanic, spiritual battle with unseen forces. His face bears a fierce expression, mouth shaped as if vocalizing or blowing. He is also wearing ear and nose ornaments, a pointed hat or helmet, and a shield on his back. Interestingly, the surface of the shield is dimensionally patterned with raised areas similar to that of a turtle shell. Such objects were created exclusively to accompany the deceased in the deep shaft and chamber tombs for which the ancient cultures of this region are known. Condition: Intact overall. With restoration to very minor loss at the lower tip of the staff and to the bottom of one foot. Some chipping and minor loss at the top of the hat. Otherwise, expected weathering, wear, chipping and abrasions overall. Sediment, mineral and Manganese deposits remain, attesting to the age and authenticity of this example. Provenance: Former C. Thomas private collection. Florida, USA. Assurance of Authenticity: All items offered by Riverbend Gallery have been carefully examined and deemed authentic and ancient. For added assurance. A CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY will be included for each applicable purchase. Fully
Nayarit Seated Figure with Bowl, Pre-Columbian West Mexico
Pre-Columbian Nayarit Seated Figure with Bowl Click on these links to view larger photos: 1- 2- 3- 4- 5 A Pre-Columbian seated figure from the ancient Nayarit region of West Mexico. Circa 200 B.C. 300 A.D. Measures approximately 7 3/4" tall. This figure is aesthetically appealing due to it's subtle, abstract form and restrained features. It depicts a seated female holding a bowl in her lap. Perhaps suggesting a relationship to the production of the alcoholic beverage, Pulque, known from these ancient regions. Production of Pulque was an important symbol of status within this ancient culture. She is shown wearing a large nose ornament, arm ornaments, ear ornaments and a headband-like head dressing- all also indicative of significant social status. Condition: Intact and in excellent original condition overall. With only minor restoration ... moreto part of one arm. The original surface decoration is mostly obscured now by heavy Manganese and other mineral deposits, which are evidence of thousands of years of burial in the Shaft Tomb environment. Provenance: Former North Carolina. USA collection. Assurance of Authenticity: All items offered by Riverbend Gallery have been carefully examined and deemed authentic and ancient. For added assurance. A CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY will be included for each applicable purchase. Fully guaranteeing the item to be ancient and genuine. VTG POTTERY BOWL, MYTHICAL CREATURES, COSTA RICA CHOROTEGA, PRE COLUMBIAN STYLE
You are bidding on this large vintage Chorotega Bowl from Costa Rica. Made by Indigenous peoples. It is decorated with 3 jaguar, or mythical heads, along with traditional archaic motifs. This is circa 1950‘s- 1960‘s, as was told by owner. She is in her 90‘s now, and recalls visiting Costa Rica during this period. Pre Columbian reproduction Muisca double jar pottery artifact Art vessel
This interesting piece is a Pre Columbian reproduction of a Muisica double jar effigy vessel complete with aging appearance including manganese deposits. It is a fairly large item. Solid and rather heavy. The color and markings are intense making it a great show piece. I purchased this and a few others that are made by modern artists doing Pre Columbian style vessels. This even has mineral deposits scattered over it. I like a few of these from the artistic standpoint and I can get nice Pre Columbian decor for much less than original that are artistically done. I have priced it as a reproduction well done. The Muiscas were a more loosely organized confederation of peoples than say. The Incas, Aztecs, or Mayans with pottery starting about 1500 BC. PRE COLUMBIAN ECUADOR POTTERY FIGURE JAMACOAQUE AUTHENTIC
PRE COLUMBIAN ECUADOR POTTERY FEMALE FIGURE JAMACOAQUE This an authentic pre columbian figure from Ecuador from a private collection and not a reproduction. It is a light beige clay color with remaining blue paint highlights on the headdress. It is a female figure with a knee length skirt standing on bare feet. There is also damage to the toes on the inside of one foot foot. Not evident from the front is a small cavity behind one ear. The figure appears to be completely solid with no firing hole. Vessel Figure Shaman Huari pre-columbian
Vessel Figure Shaman coast north From Peru. 850 A.D. Huari Culture. size: 7" inches private collection I am re listing this fine vessel Huari because it authenticates and offer you a Coa. I'll say what are the reasons for this is authentic. First I want to tell and know that connoisseurs and collectors will understand. One piece pre Columbian mostly are old in appearance, but not all is depending on where they are found, we can see many pieces of the Nazca culture and huari almost new in appearance the reason is because they are coastal and desert areas, there is no fungus in them, of course there wear. or depending on if I were to just such a ritual. this piece huari has a new appearance but can see that at the top of the head wear of natural paint. Along the way is made burnishing and how was is an old technique, otherwise I could ... moreobserved time and experience I have, symmetry and weight of each piece, the sound of this old clay ovens used and used wooden llama dung and other vegetables, sewing clay. the old sound is a dull sound of the firing of each piece, and the sound and the current technique for making false is very different because currently uses electric furnaces, can explain much more with the whole experience and the vast collection that I have in pre Columbian Peruvian art, I am very suspicious as a connoisseur of ancient art and seller can get a negative feedback. Without saying a word of this, I wrote and explain and do not hear anything, then I have made known to EBay to revise the negative feedback that is unfair. I thank all the buyers who trust us. We have much experience in Peruvian pre Columbian art. I am willing to answer any questions and publish it for all to see. Thank you thanks for your bids and purchases for all our buyers. only accept paypal payments otherwise please communicate before making a bid. all my items are guaranteed Authentic or money back
PRE COLUMBIAN AUTHENTIC ECUADOR OWL BIRD POTTERY FIGURE
PRE COLUMBIAN OWL FIGURE FROM ECUADOR A rather realistic pottery owl figure. Authentic pre columbian and not a reproductionl. From a private collection. It measures 4 inches high and is 2 1/4'inches across the chest. There is a 1/2 inch hole in the top of the head that seems to large for a firing hole and may suggest this is some kind of container. There are also two larger round circles on the back that suggest the possibility of a handle. The figure is hollow from the top to the bottom. It is free standing and has the head looking at a downward angle. Very detailed eyes and beak with two circles on each side of the head suggesting something is missing. It has two complete wings but part of the tail is missing as well as a portion of the feet. The color of the clay is light tan all over with scattered deposits. There is also a small ... morecrack under the base of the tail n the back. Even with this damage the figure is quite complete and in one piece with no repairs. It was in with La Tolita and Jamacoaque fragments but I cannot possitively identify the culture as I am not an expert.

Archaeologists have dated many of their signature"venus" figurines to as early as 5000BC. The artwork of the Valdivia is remarkably well crafted for its time, comparable to later art. Famous"Venus" Figurines Scholars believe that the Valdivian's thrived mostly along the coast in circular plaza communities. Where the houses huddled in a circular town arrangement around a central communal place, where burials often were made. Within the burials are the evidence of the many splendid sculptures that the Valdivian's have left us. A huge variety of the Venus figurines have been unearthed. Each with its own unique features, tailored to real individuals, with distinctively detailed hairstyles. Cultural Significance Most range from four to twenty cm although some are several feet high. Most are females standing in a straight position. With accentuated breasts, and pronounced shoulders and upheld neck, with arms held together as if holding some kind of sacred offering gesture, perhaps frozen in a kind of ceremonial pose praying for plentiful rains
