Pb Pre-Columbian JADE OBJECTS COLLLECTION 1927 Ramon Mena MNA/INAH Ppd in US!!!
Pb CATALOGO DE LA COLECCION DE OBJETOS DE JADE( JADE OBJECT COLLECTION) Pre-Columbian MEXICO 1927 Lic. Ramon Mena. MNA(INAH) A softbound book entitled CATALOGO DE LA COLECCION DE OBJETOS DE JADE by Lic. Ramon Mena. Professor of the Arqueology Dept. Museo Nacional de Arqueologia, Historia y Etnografia(Printing Shop)Now the INAH) Mexico City, 1927, Spanish Text. 78 pages, 13 b&w plates(many with multiple objects) 553+ jades cataloged, 8-1/2" by 5-5/8" with original thin light green covers with a chipped spine cover lower and upper cover. Pages in text lightly browning from age; author Mena explains the basics of Jade in the entire world and then down to that of Prehispanic Mexico; the book catalogs objects from the cultures of Mixtec, Maya(Mayan) Quiche(Mayan) Nahua(Aztec and Toltec) Totonac, and Tzapoteca(Zapotec) I do believe ... morethat some items are mislabelled due to new information. Some were probably trade pieces and they were labeled by location in which they were found. I see one piece that is definitely Olmec but not labelled so. It is even known that the Mayas collected pieces from other cultures! Because of the use of thin paper and its age. This book is in delicate condition and must be handled with great care. This keeps me from scanning any interior pages, I think I could easily damage it by opening it and pressing it with the scanner top. The book is not returnable if you damage it so careful handling is advised. This copy has the top left corner and the lower right corner of covers with some light damage that does not affect the text. This a POSTPAID Lot in the U S A as are ALL of my Ebay Store Lots! About Colima Mexico: The state was home to a number of pre-Hispanic cultures as part of Western Mexico. Archeological evidence dates human occupation of the area as far back as 1500 BCE. With sites here contemporary with San Lorenzo on the Gulf Coast and Tlatilco in the Valley of Mexico. One period of the area’s development is called the Los Ortices ... moreera which began around 500 BCE. During this time the elements which characterize the pre-Hispanic peoples of Colima appear such as shaft tombs and a distinctive ceramic style called“rojo bruñido” or burnished red. The next phase called Comala, covers the time period from around 100 to 600 CE, centered on a site of the same name. Comala people would perfect burnished red pottery and develop representations of people and animals with skill and fluid lines. The best known of these figures are known as the“fattened dogs” The Comala site shows influence from Teotihuacan. Around 500 CE, another site in Armería developed along the river of the same name. The Chanal site was active from the 6th to the 15th centuries and was the main culture for the Colima area. Belonging to this culture was a number of smaller sites and most of the ones known and explored to date. After Chanal the largest related site is La Campana but most contain pyramidal bases and plazas with structures often containing rounded edges. Images of Huehueteotl and Tlaloc appear with this culture. Which may indicate the origins of the cultures that ultimately settled central Mexico. There is one other site cal

New Price - Unique, Wearable Pre-Columbian Beaded Necklace
This piece was found tucked away in my Grandmother's possessions and I have decided not to keep it as I have too many collections and cannot begin collecting yet another category. It is a very interesting necklace which I remember seeing a few times when my Grandmother wore it with a big. Chunky sweater. She explained that it was an artifact from pre-Columbian times which was obtained during her travels. I must disclose first that it has been restrung on monofilament wire(a clear plastic thread, sometimes used as fishing line) which makes it very stable and wearable. The necklace consists of both natural stones and man-made beads. I believe the beads are composed of terracotta of some kind. The man-made beads are done mostly in a reddish-brown color and two in a jade green color. There are two of the reddish-brown which are tubular and ... more101 small disc-shaped. The other two tubular beads are jade green in color. I believe the pendant to be natural stone. Although I am not an expert. It is round in shape and has a hole in the center and the color is a taupe with some reddish-brown. Each side of the pendant is of a different color and the hole in the center resembles the holes in the other pieces of natural stone. The measurement of this bead is about 1 3/4 inches in diameter and 2/8 inches thick. Please see the photographs as they are an important part of the description. The majority of the other natural stones are nugget shaped with some which are flatter and they vary in color from white to beige to taupe and green. There are 38 stones not including the larger round pendant. The piece is about 24 1/2 inches in length and hangs to about 12 1/4 inches when worn. All of the beads are strung symetrically which makes this a very wearable and attractive as well as collectable item. The stones and beads are all very smooth to the touch and holding it in one's hands is a pleasent tactile experience. It is in wonderful condition with no damage or repairs other than wear consumate with age. If you should have any q

Post Pre Columbian Spanish Colonial brass battle stirrup Peru artifact relic
This unusual lovely conquistador brass stirrup was made in Peru during the Post Inca period Spanish Colonial rule. It is a heavy item and it still has a bright sheen with some tarnish and minor scratches left from age. The metal stirrup with metal plate bottom provided protection in in battle and a stable platform when fighting. They may have been used in a ceremonial display or used during a parade or inspection of a local troops when they were dressed Notice the bar on top for the leather straps. From the saddle. The hole provided drainage. Interesting is the décor on the side of the stirrup of an Incan figure head. The stirrup bottom is flat with a triangular hole in it. You can see the colorfully dressed uniformed Spanish troops in their colorful array. Horses and all, on a parade ground or a brass stirrup as a ceremonial item or ... moregift. Really nice artifact and one usually overlooked as it was a post Inca period Colonial rule item. It does show the influence of the Inca artistic culture on the stirrup. Ca: 1850 AD Hand embossed with metal work. A great piece to shine up a room as décor and bring conversation about olden times in the Spanish conquest of the Peruvian people. Please look at pictures and contact me with questions before bidding Provenance: purchased from an antiquities/antique dealer. Ancient Pre-Columbian Artifact Tribal Man Person Figure Clay Pottery Ecuador
Up for bid is this great Pre-Columbian piece. It's exact age and origins are unknown to me. This piece was part of my now deceased Ecuadorian grandfathers personal collection. So its most likely from Ecuador as most of his pieces were. It measures roughly a little over 3" long x 1.25" wide. This piece appears to be intact with no chips or damages. Selling as is so please take a look at all of the pictures as they are serving as the main description. Ask and and all questions prior to bidding.
