A beautiful MISSION STYLE hanging lighting fixture. Blue and white w/mission style flower design. In very good condition. There is some minor wear down on some of the design. The flowers are burnt orange. Green, and gold. The glass shade measures 28" around the widest point and slants down to 25" 7" from the opening to the medal piece on the end. The opening opens to 12 1/2" The metal fixture that holds the shade is 6 1/2"tall. Original sticker on the inside of the ceiling piece. Reads Progress Lighting, Div. made in the USA. Mission Bowl ~4 x 12+" - Late 19th/Early 20th Century
Early Mission Basket Dimensions: ~4 by 12+" Circa Late 19th to Early 20th Century The deep bowl with tapered sides woven primarily in sumac. With well executed eight pointed star. What appears to be a single dark signature stitch on bottom near where base transitions to side. Basket has a nice overall dimension. A deep bowl form, and a pleasant patina denoting it's graceful aging. Clearly not one of the'new' baskets you find circulating on the market as vintage. Numerous interior tuck stitches demonstrate it's Mission tribal group authenticity. The basket is in good shape overall as illustrated in the images. Multiple locations of stitch loss at rim. Some ethnographic wear and a small area of paint on the base, possibly where an old collection inventory number was previously placed. What looks like one small dab of glue ... morewhere there was a break through the top rim coil. What appeals to me is the minimalist start with a clean sumac field. Surrounded by a finely executed eight pointed star that was expertly woven, of uniform symmetry and well centered on the deep sidewalls of the bowl. Executed by an experienced weaver. The stitch quality is consistent throughout until the rim transition. Visually pleasing.
