A Beautiful Chinese Blue and White with Iron Red Dish Kangxi mark but probably 20th Century Of saucer shape. This dish is finely painted in underglaze blue with a mythical horse, probably Longma or Tianma, picked out in iron red enamel, leaping over the waves of a foamy sea. The reverse of the dish has the border repeated with three more horses. The dish has a six character Kangxi mark(1662-1722) well written, although I do not believe it is of this period and so I am cautiously cataloguing it as 20th Century. This is an interesting piece that I picked up. It was among some Kangxi and Qianlong pieces with one or two Republic pieces. The small butterflies are Famille Rose and I've not seen that on actual Kangxi Month Cups so am presuming that this is a later Republic Period piece. The painting is delicate.The porcelain is superb quality and the mark to me appears faultless. Nevertheless I can't say that it is Kangxi but you can see from the quality that this is no modern copy.
