WW 2 JAPANESE Military Parade Officers Sword with WW II Japan scabbard
This auction is for aN authentic WW 2 Japanese military Officer Parade/Dress sword with scabbard. The sword measures 35" total and the scabbard measures in at 33 3/4" and still in great condition. The scabbard shows some wear and has darkened as you can see. There are a few dents in the scabbard. But this does not prevent the sword from moving freely from it, and is removed easily. There is also a spot on the scabbard where there seems to be a small opening and can be viewed in the pictures. I have rubber and wiped some old firearm Clenzoil on the scabbard, but I have not touched the sword and will leave that up to the winning bidder. The sword itself is in real nice condition. The blade has some tarnish. But that is about it and maybe the winner will take care of that. The leather ring is in tact and present where the scabbard ... moremeets the handle which is tuff to find, and the wire handle wrapping is nice and tight. Up for auction is a high quality Japanese Samurai Sword from a family estate. It is one of four Samurai Swords I am listing this week. So please view my other auctions, as well. The Kashira(the handle end cap) is of metal construction in a black and gold design. The handle has pebbling front and back with the braided cover in very good condition. The metal scabbard is in very good overall condition. Measurements: The Nagasa(cutting edge) is just under 27 1/4 inches. A note found with the sword says the blade is"Showato" and another note says it is machine made. The wooden grip is covered in Ray skin and wrapped in twisted copper wire. The old Samurai Katana blade is with visible hamon, the original old tang was reshaped to fit to the Kyu-gunto hilt with its original worn out old copper habaki and seppa. The wooden scabbard, original to the sword, is covered with its original black lacquered leather with Kyu-gunto mounting with engraved brass furniture with two suspension rings. This is a Japanese sword wakizashi in shirosaya mountings. The blade is signed"Bishu Osafune Sukesada saku 備州長船祐定作" Shinogi-zukuri shape. Muromachi period ca 1550 era made koto blade. The blade is in old polish. Shows fine scratches, tiny staines on surface but no rust and in good condition. The temper line is deep wavy gunome with choji temper pattern throughout the blade and has deep temper at the point. The forging grain is itame-hada, shows tiny coarse forging but no forging flaw. The blade is mounted in ho-wood shirasaya mountings with sayagaki. No dent, no crack and in good condition. A WW2 Japanese navy( Kaigunto) Katana. Has a lacquered wood saya with doubles hangers. Scabbard fittings have lots of original color left. Handle has been broken and parts are included. Minus 1 menuki. Blade is 25 inches long and in excellent polish. Width at habaki is 1 3/8" Width at yokote is 13/16 and sori is 1/2 inch. Has a clear and cleanly seen hamon with a few really minor chips in the edge. There are no cracks and the sword is not bent. Not sure of the entire signature but katana mei made by Masa Hiro. There is no military stamp of any kind on it. Sword has a surrender tag done on wood with it. One unusual feature of this rig is that it has a stamp on the first(blade side) seppa that has"TEC" and a Navy anchor stamp inside chrysanthemum also. Japanese Naval officers parade dress sword with surrender tag
A beautiful example of a Colonial style Japanese Navy dress sword. It still has its surrender tag which is unusual to find on these. The hilt and scabbard fittings still have at least 80% plus original gilt finish. There is a family Mon on the grip instead of the usual cherry blossom. The guard has a folding edge which snaps onto a small nob on the scabbard to hold the sword in. The scabbard is made from a flawless fine shark skin and has no damage or warping. The blade looks to be chrome plated with a false Hamon and is absolutely perfect with no rust. Nicks, corrosion or peeling of the plating. The habaki is gilded and scored in the manner of a Katana fitting. Overall an extra nice example of this type of sword.

Hello& Welcome to my Auction. Here I have an early Edo-Period full-length Katana 37.5 inches. This fantastic quality hand-forged Japanese Samurai Sword. Forged in the early to mid 1600's, was signed'Tadayoshi' of the Hizen Province. Recently back from the NBTHK in Japan, and with a certification that the signature is gimei. It was not apparently signed by the original sword-smith- this sword could have been signed by a'Tadayoshi' student of that time, or by a long-dead Japanese salesman trying to get top-dollar for his wares. The blade is of exceptionally good quality, will accept a professional polish, and has no major flaws anywhere, as far as I can see. Please inspect the numerous color photographs included in this listing to assist you in this items' description. I have paperwork from the NHBHK in Japan. A ... morewell-fitted Saya(custom-made bamboo case w/bamboo pin to hold the Nakago) a Habaki(brass collar) a Sageo(silk scabbard) and a silk Sword Sheath included in this auction. At a full-length of 37.5 inches. This is a full-length Katana- a true, hand-forged Japanese Sword created c.400 years ago in feudal Japan. I do not know what that stamped symbol means at the Hamachi in the above photo. There is only very slight corrosion/light scratches on this blade. The signature is strong& clear. The blade is sharp. And shows a good, slightly wavering Hamon along its edge. I received the information on this sword from a Professional Japanese Swords Shop in Honolulu, Hawaii. They informed me that the blade is a quite good one, in very good, still polishable condition and was signed- likely c.400 years ago- by other than its creator. It is constructed of black leather with brass fittings which although the leather has now faded a bit. Does remain in healthy condition. This is a Japanese sword wakizashi in mountings. The blade is signed"Bizen koku Sukesada 備前国祐定" Shinogizukuri shape. Edo period ca.1700 era made blade. The blade is in old polish, shows aged light staines on surface but no rust and in good condition. The temper line is wavy notare temper pattern throughout the blade and has deep turn back temper at the point. The forging grain is tight itame-hada, no forging flaws at all. The scabbard is urushi lacquered scabbard. No lacquer loss, no dent, no crack and in good condition. The handle is tight fit with gold inlay birds motif fuchi/ kashira and popy seed motif menuki. Tsuka-ito wrapping is no cut. No loose. The tsuba is marugata shape copper rim iron tsuba with nice patina. A koto(pre 1600) Japanese Katana. 26 1/4 inches long and unshortened tang. Signed"BIZEN KUNII OSA FUNE SUKE SADA. Made with a wooden habaki attached to the handle. The blade is straight and has no cracks. Out of polish altho it appears the hamon is complete. It has a nice boshi. Some smallish nicks in the edge and a sword cut on the shinogi shows it was in battles. The very old shira saya has some writing left that reads"HEIRLOOM BIZEN SUKE SADA" then a word I can't make out. It also has" another word I can't see then MOTOICHI TAMURA. There is lots of otehr saya gaki but I cant make it out. A great candidate for polish!

Original WW2 Japanese late war Shin-Gunto Officer's Sword. Beefy blade.
Original WW2 Japanese Gendaito Shin-Gunto Officer's Sword This nice example of a Japanese officer's sword. The blade is out of polish and I cannot make out the Hamon(tempered line) Although I think I can just see a wide straight line. The tang is hidden under the handle which I cannot remove(I've tried but it's held fast) interestingly it's held in by two close fitting pegs which could mean it is an older blade pressed into service. There is no noticeable damage to the blade other than a few scratches. The cutting edge is clean and solid with little noticeable chipping or damage, there are a couple of nail catchers that you would expect from age. The Kissaki(tip) is complete and unaltered. This blade is in original condition and you would need to polish it if you wanted to bring it up to show condition. I personally do ... morenot like to tamper with this kind of sword too much as I feel it can affect the history of the item. The mounts are standard late war or'ersatz' and appear to be made from a Shirasaya(resting scabbard) which has been adapted for combat and painted black. I believe that these type of mounts would have been completely leather covered at one stage and carried by an NCO or lower ranking officer. The fittings are what you would expect from a late war Gunto, a bit rougher than the earlier war examples. All in all this is a good example of the type, it needs some attention if you desire to really bring it to life and would be a great sword to practice your polishing skills on. Please study the pictures carefully as all sales are final, ask any questions you may have and I will do my best to answer them. If you want a mint sword you are in the wrong place, this blade has fought through a war and has wear and tear to prove it. The term Shin-Gunto literally means new military and is a term used to describe Japanese military swords pre 1945.
