The total length of the sword blade is 19 3/4" 15 1/8" cutting edge. As you can see in the photos most of the handle is missing. The black scabbard is also missing parts and has about a 3" crack. The blade has some nicks to the cutting edge. Still somewhat sharp. This is an exceptional Japanese ceramic vase that was made by Fukagawa Seiji of Arita. This company has been a purveyor to the Imperial Family for over 100 years. The vase is decorated with a kendo men(helmet) Shinai(sword) and sakura(cherry blossoms) It's pale blue in color with a gold gilt rim. The bottom is signed and has the company's Mt. Fuji& river trademark. The condition is 100% mint and comes in the original kiribako and includes papers from the maker too. The box has slight warping but nothing that affects the value of the set. This vase was probably used as a trophy at a major shiai. It's large, measuring approx. 24.5 cm(9-5/8 inches) tall. It weighs 1969 grams. This is an estate find. I know very little about Japanese swords but will do the best I can to describe it. It is about 35" overall. Blade is 21.5" Has a black laquer scabbard. Show a tempering or hamon line. The tang appears to have been shortened but there is a signature or some writings on it. It has two charms on the handle, horse figures on the end. The guard is loose. Offered is a an old WW2 Japanese knife blade. This was found with other USMC veteran uniform items that I have listed. The blade is signed on both sides with Japanese characters. Measures: 7.75" with tang included. And the blade itself is 5" long. Shows overall age, but not abused(see photos) I did not find the handle, it still might show up in a box. This is a Japanese Meiji army office's Dress Parade Sword. This type saber is Meiji time period ca.1887 made and carried till WWll time period as parade saber. The blade is chrome plated blade. In original polish, no rust, no stains and in excellent condition. There is no bend, no nicks, no crack and no cutting edge. The scabbard is chrome plated heavy metal scabbard with, shows some oxidation and rust on surface but no dent, no bend. The handle is cherry flowers engraved brass D guard handle. The wire handle is missing some wire and is loose. The blade is 27 3/4, and the hilt is 5 inches.

Japanese Naval Sword with Provenance and Shipping Crate
This is a Japanese Naval Officers Sword that was sent back to the United States from the soldier that was overseas. I am not an expert with Japanese swords. But I do believe to have one with the shipping crate as well as the Name, Rank and Serial# of the soldier is quite rare. Also the original shipping address both to and from as well as the shipping stamps and shipping invoice are still present. The sword is about 39" long complete. The scabbard is black laquer with the gold color accoutrements. It does show some wear from rubbing against the officers pant leg. There are some small chips of black paint missing but you must really look for them. The handle is green wrapping with a black colored underlaying over the wooden handle. Both I would say are in very good condition. The Mon is present on both sides. The blade is not signed but ... morehas the anchor within the circle mark with the inspectors signature in black paint. The blade is just under 29" long(cutting edge) There are no major flaws on the blade. Such as niches or cracks. The temper line is straight and visible and the point, is still sharp. This is a really nice collectable and will add to anyone's collection.

Leyte Airborne captured WWII Japanese ARMY Officer's PARADE Sword non samurai

The blade is 32 1/4" Overall 39 1/2" The blade is in very good condition, it has an etched wavy temper line the wire and horn are near perfect, no damage, scabbard is in very good condition for the age, some light wear and a couple of slight dents(see pictures) A complete, example of a WWII sword. Genuine Japanese swords are getting hard to find, so many were destroyed during the conflict. With the fancy temper it is clear the owner wanted to own the best. There is a"Certificate" giving the owner permission to have this Japanese saber. It shows the unit is 457th F.A. Parachute. Part of the 11th Airborne. Japanese Bronze Sword Guard 'Tsuba' - Oriental Design
Lovely quality bronze Tsuba adorned with gilt& silver coloured decoration. The piece is decorated with a scene depicting an oriental design. This Tsuba is part of a private collection of these that i have recently bought- all are offered on eBay at a low starting bid and no reserve. Please view my other listings in my eBay shop. This particular one is of excellent quality as seen in the photographs. The tsuba is usually a round or occasionally squarish guard at the end of the grip of bladed Japanese weapons. Like the katana and its various declinations(tachi, wakizashi etc. tanto, or naginata. They contribute to the control of the weapon(the right index finger of the fighter typically touches the tsuba) and to the protection of the hand. The tsuba was mostly meant to be used to prevent the hand from sliding onto the blade during thrusts ... moreas opposed to protecting from an opponent's blade. The chudan no kamae guard is determined by the tsuba and the curvature of the blade. The diameter of the average katana tsuba is 7.5 cm- 8 cm(2.953 inches- 3.15 inches) wakizashi tsuba is 6.2 cm- 6.6 cm(2.441 inches- 2.598 inches) and tanto tsuba is 4.5 cm- 6 cm(1.772 inches- 2.362 inches) During the Muromachi period(1333-1573) and the Momoyama period(1573-1603) Tsuba were more for functionality than for decoration. Being made of stronger metals and designs. During the Edo period(1603-1868) there was peace in Japan so tsuba became more ornamental and made of less practical metals such as gold. Tsuba are usually finely decorated. And nowadays are collectors' items. Tsuba were made by whole dynasties of craftsmen whose only craft was making tsuba. They were usually lavishly decorated. In addition to being collectors items, they were often used as heirlooms, passed from one generation to the next. Japanese families with samurai roots sometimes have their family crest(mon) crafted onto a tsuba.
