ANTIQUE MEIJI JAPANESE ARITA YAKI IMARI WARE PORCELAIN PLATE DISH CHARGER, BOAT
For your consideration a beautiful Arita yaki(Imari ware) dish made during the Meiji Era(1868-1912) Probably in the late 1800's. It depicts a beautiful scene of a sailing boat gliding amongst stylised waves on a backdrop of Japanese pines. Two large chrysanthemums and other flora appear to burst in bloom and the sails boast an intricately decorative design of two roundells covered in abstract motifs on a background of stylised floral patterns. Arita ware was made in the town of Arita in southern Kyushu. It is most commonly known in the West as Imari ware since the many pieces that were made for export were shipped from the nearby port of Imari. The pieces made for export often featured overglaze using red and gold and other pigments. This dish uses the traditional blue and white sometsuke cobalt oxide underglaze that has been in use in ... moreJapan from the earliest time of porcelain production. And would have been intended for the domestic Japanese market at the time. It is in overall very good condition with one very small chip on the border that is almost imperceptible from the front(but can be seen from the back) There are some light surface scratches. 8 Antique Japanese Edo Period Imari Handleless Tea Cups Bowls
Here is a set of eight antique Japanese porcelain handle-less tea cups. They are decorated with under the glaze blue on the interior of each with a double ring design and brocade design at the top and a key fret variation on the exterior foot. Along the outside are overglaze enamels in green. Aubergine and red with black depicting what appears to be a early rose blossoms. There is some minor loss to the enamels otherwise these cups are in excellent condition, no chips, cracks, damage or repairs. They measure around 2& 1/2 inches high and 3& 1/4 in diameter at the top, these are wheel turned porcelain and vary in size from piece to piece. Items will be shipped USPS Priority Mail. Orange/Gold/White Imari Style Pagoda Plate
You are looking at what I think is a Imari plate in orange/white and golds. It measures 10 1/2 inches across. I have not been able to figure out the maker's mark which is a shield with looks like it might read SGC with a w under it. There is a number 7 next to it and a pattern number 2514 painted on. A couple of nips along the rim and it does have a little crazing on the front. But no chips or cracks.

Superb Antique Meiji Period Japanese Imari HUGE Octagonal Bowl Dragons Oceanic
This week I am listing some very high quality Antiques items. All items were picked up from Various Estates in Maryland near the bay area& pennsylvania near the Lancaster area. Be sure to check out my other listings through out the week. This is one of the finest if not the finest quality Antique Meiji period Japanese Imari Bowls. Octagonal in form very large& very deep. C ompletely hand painted in polychrome golds. Reds, greens, blues& other colors. The interior has various panels of various Japanese forms and medallions. There are two red square panels with decoration& two panels that looks like a religious form as well as two fi erce dragons. two fish or serpent figures. The center base of the bowl has a large winged bird. I believe a phoenix or something similar. The exterior is then beautifully hand painted in blue& ... moregold on the bright white surface with a 360 degree oceanic seascape view. With various trees, shrubs, boulders, waves& huts. The bottom has a deep thick raised ring foot with with various blue painted bands around the inside& outside of it. No markings that I could find. It is in excellent museum quality condition. With no chips, cracks or repairs. I noticed a few very light crazing lines in the bottom on the inside glaze. Along with some very minor gold gilt paint wear. An absolutely Stunning mid to late 19th Century piece. I don't think it is older than that. It measures an incredible 12-1/4" from side to side& 5-1/2" tall. The center has an intentional crackle glaze(like those found on Satsuma pieces) and the outside is decorated in a contemporary version of Imari patterns. This bowl is probably from the 1970's. It is in excellent condition- no chips or cracks. The center has one very tiny pin sized glaze burn from the kiln original to production as shown.
