The centers of the bowls and lids have a three friends of Winter pattern(pine, prunus and bamboo) They are all in excellent antique condition and have honorary Ming Chenghua marks on the top of the lids. Most of the pieces have typical pinhole and glaze burn marks/flaws as shown in the closeups- typical for everyday Meiji period wares from Arita. Additionally, there are a few very tiny chips to the rims that are underglaze and original to the time of production as they were glazed over before being painted. There are 6 panels of which three are of birds on an oxblood background with lots of gold and the other three are of chrysanthemums on a very dark cobalt background. The unique center is made up of flowers, leaves, and gold. 22K gold can be found within the plate and along the rim. There are 3 blue floral designs on the back of the plate that are equally spaced apart. This is an imari ceramic sakazuki(sake cup) It dates to the late Edo era(c. 1860) And is an appropriate size for a serving of Japanese sake. The size is also appropriate for Japanese sencha green tea. It has a very detailed hand painted design of chrysanthemum blossoms, bamboo forest, and temples by the river located around the outside(see pictures 3-5) Written on the bottom is" Senzan-zou. the location where this sakazuki was made(see picture 12) It measures 2 3/4" across by 1 5/8" tall(7 x 4.3 cm) Having been in storage most of its life. Antique Japanese Arita Imari charger plate 14 5/8" excellent
Japanese Arita Imari charger very well done. Measures about 14 5/8" in diameter and is in excellent condition with all paint intact and no chips. Cracks or repairs. There are several pinholes that are natural to the creation of this piece and can be best seen in the 5th picture. I have no special knowledge of Asian porcelain or antiques, but I have been told that judging by the three rings on the outside of the the bottom rim/foot and one on the inside, and by the fact that there is one single kiln spur in the center, this plate was probably made in the late 1800s to early 1900s. Japanese antique LARGE Arita bowl ko Imari lovely distinctive excellent cond!
I became a fanatic antique collector while living in Japan and traveling extensively. This is a ko-imari or OLD imari bowl. Measures 11.5 inches across by 4 inches tall. Don't get hung up on whether it is Arita or Imari, I traveled that whole island when I went down there, rented a car and drove the circumference just to understand what was going on, I visited the Fukugawa kiln, and saw a lot of little mom and pop kilns and roadside stands where the people are selling their own ceramics and porcelain. What I discovered about arita and imari is that one of the two is where it is made(the town of Arita) and the other is the port that it was shipped out of(Imari) The coloring o this large bowl. If you are familiar with the regular rich Imari colors, are quite muted, more along the lines of Kakiemon on this bowl, and the lack of refinement ... moreon the technique of this bowl peg it to the Edo period, most likely 1800-1850. There are a few glaze drips, a little bit of wear, please see the photos. It is large and really really lovely. No chips or cracks that I could see. Please check our other items. For your consideration are six bright and lively bowls from Tiffany& Company in the Imari Pattern. Each is rimmed in gold and features gold on the outer décor. One bowl has a small chip just under its rim that measures a half inch by a quarter inch. There is some wear of the gold on the rims of two bowls. Nippon Chip & Dip or Appetizer Plate w/ Attached Bowl. M in Wreath. ?Imari Style
This is an absolutely lovely bowl with attached underplate for crackers and dip. Or appetizers with a condiment bowl, or just for display. Whatever you choose to use it for, it is a great collector's piece. Marked"Hand Painted. Nippon" with the Green"M" in Wreath mark, it looks to me to be the Imari style. It has black accent trim, with an ivory, almost pale yellow background with beautiful gold detail. The gold gilding on the rim of the plate does show mild wear. There are 3 tiny pinprick yellow spots on the interior. The interior of the bowl is white. There is a?stress hairline fracture on the underside between the two ridges. It does not go all the way through, as you can not see it on the front/top of the piece. Please see all pictures and in close up to evaluate this lovely plate and bowl combination. Large 45.5" Vintage Imari Style Porcelain Floor Vase in Blue, Orange, White
Up for auction is a elegant very large orange blue and white floor vase. It is decorated with scenes of Asian life-landscape. People, animals, birds and fish. It is truly magnificent. The vase stands 45.5" tall. The ruffled top is about 14.5" wide. The bottom is about 11" The widest section of the vase is 17" I do not see any markings on the vase. I do not see any chips or cracks. There is a red HAN( Japanese stamp in red ink) at the center of the bottom. The HAN says, SHIBATA TO-KI" It means" Shibata Pottery" Shibata Imari is a well-known, traditional Japanese Pottery, and, in general, Imari-Yaki( Imari Pottery) is known as of" excellent quallity and, because of it, expensive pottery" Please look at all the pictures closely before you bid on it. This is a vintage Japanese hand-painted porcelain tea plate of Imari ware(Arita ware) Which was made about 30 years ago. 7" diameter and in perfect condition. All overglaze colorful pictures and patterns are completely hand-painted. It's excellent. Imari porcelain is the European collectors' name for Japanese porcelain wares made in the town of Arita. In the former Hizen Province, northwestern Kyushu, and exported from the port of Imari, Saga, specifically for the European export trade.
