Vintage The Jennings & Griffin 8" Chairmaker's Draw Knife
This style Drawknife has a blade designed like a knife blade rather than the usual chisel shape type. These are sought after by chair makers because they reduce tear-out when shaving spindles and legs. They are difficult to locate. This one sharpened up beautifully on Arkansas stones. It appears nothing more aggressive has been used as the blade retains it's full shape with no nicks or rust as the pictures display. there is only minor superficial pitting that is no where near the cutting edge. Interestingly the handles appear to be chestnut with slightly different skew detail on each. They are both factory judging by the cap peen which is identical. Outstanding tool for the craftsman.
